Feels 2 good to B true ????
Indigo1991 replied to laurab136's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Of course you deserve this surgery and all the benefits it will bring - like having loads more energy, not being out of breath or sweaty, lol! I started pre-surgery at 223lbs, 5'2", 207lbs on day of surgery (26 April), now 145lbs. So even lower BMI starts can be successful :-)))) Good luck, I know you will achieve your goals of being happy, healthy and loving life - feel the same myself! -
Another NSV today....I am dumbstruck!
Indigo1991 replied to RJ'S/beginning's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
RJ'sBeginning, I have read your posts about the story of your sleeve, what you have been through. The fact that you are here and thriving is amazing and inspirational in itself. So I am even happier to hear that you are seeing your weight loss so clearly now - wearing smaller clothes makes all of us feel good and you deserve it. As LipstickLady told GamerGirl, go out and try on a few clothes, feel good and get some practise in for spending your hubby's cash :-)))) I am so pleased for you... -
Thank you all so much! I am going to leave it a couple of days, then text him to say no thanks and that I am dating elsewhere - no details but enough to let him know I am not available. Won't mention G3.... Love all the comments about telling him I am finding my spark/chemistry elsewhere, lol! Reading them, what a nerve he had saying that to me - but I wouldn't take that from anyone now.... Thanks again x

Wow! Congratulations on making an amazing start in such a short time. Looking good :-)))) -
A little NSV.. or two...
Indigo1991 replied to Madam Reverie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Madam R, I can't wait to see the Christmas pics ha ha ha! I I feel I am already dressing like that, lol, knee-high suede high heeled boots, shorter skirts and cleavage. Was at a black tie dinner last night with plunging frock - was described as "smoking hot" by guy 15 years younger..... Ooh! Six months ago, I would have said I would continue to dress like my granny but I think I am making up for many lost years with my refined hooker look. )))) -
A little NSV.. or two...
Indigo1991 replied to Madam Reverie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
According to my dietician, your brain and your eyes will eventually get it together and you will see your true self.... But for now, it's pretty fan-bloody-tastic when you get the size wrong - and it's too big. Spent years buying the wrong size and it was always too small... I was a UK 20-22 at the end of April, now a 12. Not sure when I will get used to it but I am loving it. :-)))) So you work it, girl, and enjoy, it will just get better and better! -
Sleeve vs bypass
Indigo1991 replied to tglastchance's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Talk to a surgeon who routinely does sleeves. He or she can explain the risks and the advantages of the surgery with the benefit of their experience. I chose the sleeve as many others did because it doesn't involve operating/rerouting any organ other than my stomach. I ate too much so making it smaller to hold less food seemed logical. No problems and no regrets. Keep researching until you are happy you have enough info on the mind of surgery and the surgeon before you decided. Good luck! -
My height may play the factor in which procedure I have....=/
Indigo1991 replied to native_brunette's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What a lot of nonsense! Find another surgeon - if he actually believes this, who trained him??? 5'2" and very happy with my weight loss.... -
Went to the recycling centre today. They have huge metal bins for you to put clothes in for recycling. There's a chute door high up and you reach up and pull down. It's pretty stiff and you need to really pull down on the handle with two hands to get it open and stuff the clothes in. I have done this on many occasions in the past. As a short person, I jump up to catch the handle, then use my weight to bring it down. Not done it for a couple of months though. Today, l jumped, grabbed the handle and pulled, And pulled. But i just ended up hanging there. Eventually, i jumped, grabbed and it came down. Then went straight back up at speed with me hanging on for grim death... It actually went beyond where it usually sits, so I was literally left swinging in the wind. The man who came to help me down could barely keep a straight face. He then opened the chute and I threw my stuff in. His suggestion as he walked away? "You need to put on a bit of weight before a wee thing like you tries that again..." I could have kissed him :-)))) It's the things you could never have dreamed of happening that make being sleeved a joy every day.

Arts137, am sure you meant no offence by what you thought was a throw away humorous comment. But this isn't just an American site, it's global. And, for some of us, the Irish potato famine isn't something to joke about in this context when so many died. Just thought I would say....

Nearly a goner...but so happy!
Indigo1991 replied to Indigo1991's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
SassyTink, you are right, don't remember the last time anyone looked at me like that!!!! I looked too big and solid for anyone to worry about me doing myself a mischief, lol. Beach Lover, this is right up there at the top of my memories of this incredible journey in the last six months. Alongside wearing my first dress since 1990, having my first date in 33 years and my 22 year old son's comment (not having seen me for a month) "omg, mum, you've got legs and I really mean LEGS!". Love my sleeve !!!! -

Approved for Surgery - Now I'm Freaking Out
Indigo1991 replied to LynRN's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you weren't a bit concerned about what you're going to do, I would be worried you didn't know what you are letting yourself in for. But you've done your homework and got yourself a great surgeon. You know the risks and what might happen. For the majority of us, we get through the surgery with the usual bumps in the road - gas pains, reaction to anaesthetic that passes, sore incisions, find it hard to lie down, need to take acid inhibitors, struggling to get liquids, Protein in and so on. Many people sail through the surgery, others get one or more of the previous issues in combo. The first two weeks are the worst but things improve. Some people suffer serious things like a leak or a stricture (or other complications from surgery) but, thankfully, those appear to be rare. So we all balance what might happen with what we hope for from the surgery. For me, it was better health, a longer life, to get rid of my comorbidities as a result of losing weight. I felt I had run out of options so, despite my fear, I was more afraid of what might happen to me in the long term.... Despite the bumps in the road, I have not one regret. The sleeve has delivered everything I hoped for and many other good things I couldn't even imagine. So go into your surgery with a bit of fear, that's natural, this is major surgery after all. But balance it with hope that you are doing something good that will address the reasons why you are having this surgery in the first place. Hang in there, you are not alone, just keep posting and you will get the support and reassurance to get through. Very best of luck!!!! -
Driving?

Ps good luck on Monday, hope it all goes well!!! -
I'm almost 6 months out, loving my bones but my girls are having the same discussions that yours are, lol. My deflated bum is more of a problem as sitting on my tailbone gets pretty sore - trying to build muscle to get a bit of non-fat padding going. I didn't think I would bother with cosmetic surgery for my boobs but given that I am rolling and tucking, I've decided to have them reduced and lifted in the New Year. After that, I will happily live with all the other wrinkly, droopy bits ))))

Is it legal to strangle someone while on the liquid diet?
Indigo1991 replied to Roo101769's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Of course you can wring her chicken neck .... you would be putting her out of her misery cos she sounds like a right miserable besom ... But I love mazzers120's suggestion - I would adapt it by making it little pieces of fish and spreading it around her, including taping it to the underside of her seat. When it gets smelly, you walk by spraying air fresher and just looking at her without saying a word.... -
Mmmmm, shortbread..... way better than deep fried Mars Bar...

And don't you look fantastic, HoosierGirl!! On the home straight now :-)

Just noticed that your ticker is showing your weight in pounds not kilos.... Should you be losing weight with a BMI of 14, lol???!!!! -
Yes, it will get better. First couple of weeks are tough, physically and mentally, but hang in there because as with everything, this too will pass :-) And it will be so worth it. For now, rest, get used to the new way your body works, keep sipping your liquids, follow whatever plan your doc gives you, take your pain meds and start to move around. Keep it simple and don't stress... Any questions, search this site and you will find someone who's been there before you and has help and good advice to offer. Don't suffer in silence. When you start to see the benefits of your sleeve, what you are going through will fade from memory. Good luck and congratulations on joining the sleeved side!

Hi and welcome to the site! Am assuming you are not American as you were sleeved on 5/10/2013 - not 10/5/2013, lol! You have had a great start to your new life, good luck going forward. -
10/11/2013 Will be my Two years out from Surgery
Indigo1991 replied to Boo2011's topic in Rants & Raves
Back to the OP, listen to Laura-ven and PDXman. Go back to basics and, with the greatest of respect, stop eating round your sleeve. You and it are a partnership - it can only work if you do your bit. So try eating dense Proteins, eat slowly and chew well so that u can get more in. If after an hour or two you think you feel hungry, drink liquid. Sometimes we can confuse hunger with thirst. Eat three meals and if you need to, three small Snacks and get back to having a structure to your eating. You can do this - if you choose to. You are in control - if you choose to be. You know how to do this, you have just let things slide. So forget what you did yesterday and decide to take things a day at a time and get it right. Good luck, no more beating yourself up, eyes front, lol !!!! -
I'm Afraid of Bread...
Indigo1991 replied to AmandaRaeLeo's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Love the name of this thread! I can eat pretty much anything so choose to stay away from bread, rice, Pasta etc. If I want to keep losing at this stage, I have to stick with Proteins. But my nemesis is cake. Every kind. I desperately want to like it and on occasion - like a birthday - I want to eat it. But every time, my sleeve she say NO after a couple of small mouthfuls... Now this may be a good thing long term but given all the other crap I could eat but choose not to, why is it that the only thing I would love to eat I can't???? -
strange reaction to great news

Congratulations!!!! And I lmao at the "fat brain" comment! Apparently it takes time for our heads to adjust the picture on our self image so until that happens, trust the scales - and they say you have lost am AMAZING amount of weight. Enjoy your success, your brain will say "wow" soon....
