Ladies: How many of you pre-surgery got the "Are you pregnant" question?
abranewme replied to GirlOnFire's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I HAVE AND IT PISSED ME OFF. Why? Because I was having a difficult time getting pregnant and required Assisted Reproduction Therapy to do so. Finally my dream of having a child came true and i have been blessed with a son. Thank you JESUS! I was on hormonal replacement much of the beginning of my pregnancy in the form of suppositories to keep my pregnancy ( something I suspect made weight matters WORSE) so when I finally WAS PREGNANT guess what many folks asked next? ARE YOU HAVING TWINS? Grrrrrrrr His pediatrician suspects he will be uber tall like 6 foot 4! He looks 3 or 4 in the height department but he's only 1 and I am LOVING EVERY MINUTE OF HIM! Handsome too!!! God will provide if you pray hard enough! Only took 7 years but I'm not bitter! -

Yes we are!!!!! ^^^^^ Sometimes it's good to have vicarious fantasies of revenge without necessarily carrying them out! I UNDERSTAND -
YES. Not so much freaking out but really weepy holding my 1 year old extra long, imagining me picking him up from school fit and ready to play ball or run with him. I scheduled the surgery after his 2 yo birthday this July at the end of the month. Checked my fasting blood sugar today and it was 125... Just ANOTHER CONFIRMATION I am doing the right thing for my health. For those who do not know 99 and below is normal. I had gestational diabetes complete with 2 types of insulin I had to take 4 times a day. It seems to be coming back to kick my but however I WON'T ALLOW IT!

Any sleevers with narcissistic mother?
abranewme replied to mariadt's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes and she was 4 feet tall and always 100 pounds. She would try to feed me to stay bigger than her at times. Always in competition with me. BTW I am adopted and my birthmother is dead so I am speaking of my adoptive mother. She now has Alzheimer's and some days has no idea of who I am. I love her STILL as this personality disorder was a torch her OWN MOTHER passed down to her. I'm free of her judgement due to the disease and now understand all the dynamics of why she was the way she was and I find comfort in this. I suggest you reveal as little as possible of your journey to her as you're damned if you do or damned if you don't. Set boundaries! This book is awesome and the website has many video snippets you may find helpful. Best of luck on your journey! http://www.willieverbegoodenough.com/ -

Folks like that MAKE ME SICK. They tend to be miserable in their own lives and believe it or not may have had their OWN STRUGGLES WITH WEIGHT in their childhood and feel justified as adults now they are thin to pick on other people who are now overweight. Be careful if you do. Have a thick skin on... Have a few slick responses PLANNED if they come for you like: I might have been fat but UGLY IS FOREVER! LOL Most importantly LOOK HOT!!!!!! I bet they won't even recognize you and will try and hit on you! That's when you drop the bomb... YOU DON'T REMEMBER ME? LOLOLOL if I could be a fly on the wall! -
It so true how when overweight we have to be UBER FUNNY OR CHARMING or up our fashion sense and makeup skills to get respect and sometimes approval granted to someone just naturally beautiful and skinny!
-
You are RIGHT... I never even CONSIDERED THAT! I won't blame myself... Geeze I sure hope THAT does NOT happen to her. WOW! She may go to extremes to keep up with my weight loss never even crossed my mind! Wow just wow!
-
Justtobreathe Oh my I am so sorry to hear about your situation! Well I have decided not to tell her I have an actual surgery date and I am going through with it. i will blame the weight loss on diet and exercise so SHE feels more secure and I don't have to hear her jealous commentary. My husband is super supportive thankfully. I don't want to hear her back handed comments as she uses useless methods of weight loss that don't work over and over out of fear of me having the surgery. She was bulimic at one point and I never judged her. It would be nice to be afforded the same courtesy don't cha think? If she tried to qualify I can see how an eating disorder could stop approval. But she never even considered it as an option for herself.

I do I do I dooooo! LOL! My Dad who had claimed in the past: I've let myself go! anyone who made slick remarks about how big I was getting or straight up asked if I was pregnant!
-
Ironically this person I am speaking of is one of my best friends! I have only told 4 folks. Two of which live with me and all are super supportive except her! She talks about how I could die. Mind you I told her I was only CONSIDERING it... not my final decision to do it. think its threat to her if I become thin as she remains plus sized. I don't want to lie and omit details but I am feeling like I may have to so I can remain positive. If she continues to obsess over it and continues to badger me I may have to be firm with her. This is something I want to avoid.

B. Being I. In. T. Total. C. Control. H. Honey Look at it this way LOL I love the comment above^^^^^ on the money!!!
-
Wow GREAT JOB!!!! You look amazing!!!

So have any of you had folks in your immediate circle disagree with your decision on getting surgery? I'm dealing with a close girlfriend who turned into a detractor. It's saddening and I am avoiding giving her any info regarding details of the surgery. I just don't need the negativity right now. I am so glad that I found other women on this forum who are going to the same thing!
-
TOTALLY!!
-
I would look for another psychologist even after that bastard approves you. Why? Just to have someone in network you actually LIKE to talk to. I'm so sorry you had that experience. This weight loss experience is physically trying but the mental can be even more trying... You need support aside from this forum. Some folks are in it just for the money not for your well being. Keep on keeping on!

I have a tentative date for July 26th! Passed my psych did all my requirements except the blood work and nutritionist! They will submit soon. I am so excited and not worried about approval at all

This just cannot be happening! So upset !

Talked to my new primary physician and he will test my levels and give Synthroid if I need it thankfully! It's a tiny pill.. No biggie. My fear is INSULIN AGAIN... I hated sticking myself with the blood sugar monitor as well as those syringes... Not fun!!! Hence the surgery. If I have to do Synthroid after the surgery I'd have no problems with that. -
Good looking out... I will be having Dr. Ewing doing mine. His credentials are amazing. I'll tell you how it goes!

I was going on a kiddie choo-choo train ride with my 1 1/2 year old and got stuck with him in my arms getting off and almost FELL. I went home and cried in the car ride home from being MORTIFIED. That day I looked into this surgery. I hope and pray to God it's the answer to my weight issues once and for all.
