Happy Birthday to me!
SeaGirl replied to Beach Lover's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Happy Birthday! Congratulations on being the new you! I know what you mean about being able to shop in stores you never could before. I hope this includes some nice birthday gifts for yourself! Enjoy your day! -
People don't recognize me!
SeaGirl replied to MommyofFive's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For the last few weeks, my husband has sat in the car and looked right at me waiting for him to drive up and pick me up. I wave, and he startles a little. He just doesn't see me. He calls me "Slimbo" now, which I think is sweet ( and much nicer than "bimbo"). Hahaha. I'm down 51! -
Some days are great, some are more of a challenge as I adjust to being sleeved. Overall, I have been able to eat everything, but not much of anything. I have great energy and am happier about everything in life than I have been in years. Tuesday, I had a headache, craved BarBQue as I drove up I-35 in TX (every billboard was for BarBQue or Jerky), and my head hunger was nuts. Weds I was back to being satisfied and grateful, not nutty. Goes to show that takin it one day at a time can really help. Tonight I walked with my hubbie and I wasn't winded or sore! Down 45-50 lbs since end of June. Makes moving the bod much easier. Loving my sleeve!

I would call it liquid. No real protein either. I would put some Unflavord protein powder in a bowl and see how it goes.

3 months out.....Grazing or overeating......
SeaGirl replied to PGee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just ate, didn't think it was too much, or too fast, then I got super uncomfortable, super slimey. Eventually I coughed and spontaneously hacked up a foamy mess right onto the carpet....YUCK! Gotta do it differently. Time to sslooooowww down. This is the first time that's happened. Hope it's the last.. -
Trouble Sleeping since Sleeve
SeaGirl replied to DMH's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the same deal early on. I would fall asleep easily and wake up with my legs jumping, and almost spastic. This went on for at least a month postoperative and seems to have resolved. I will get my thyroid checked though. I don't want to be hyperthyroid. This is the first post about this I've seen, so I didn't relate it to surgery. -

This is great! What and accomplishment. You look amazing! -
Hey Diamond, I was sleeved 8/6 too. we are sisters! Glad to meet you. I'm down from 230 heavy wt, 221 day of surgery, to 183 this morning. I was feeling down because in 2 weeks I've only lost 2 lbs. my mind is screwing with me... So I tuned into VST for some encouragement and support. So glad to have this. I have a huge list of things to be grateful for. Thanks everyone for being out there. I'm not eating much, am good about using MFP to track, and sometimes I sit down to track because my mood is low and I'm sure I ate too much in that day, of course to find out that I didn't. My mind is really doing push ups to try and keep me sick in this battle. Deep breath. It's going to be ok.

Excellent. I'm so happy for both of you! Isn't it great to feel great? I'm lovin' the sleeve and can't wait to get more weight off. Thanks for sharing your success with us.

10/11/2013 Will be my Two years out from Surgery
SeaGirl replied to Boo2011's topic in Rants & Raves
Queen, you must be heartbroken and frustrated beyond belief. I don't have any experience with this, I'm only almost 9 weeks out, still, I read this and I'm really concerned for you. Have you talked to your endocrinologist? Your surgeon? -
I have lost weight and my pants still fit the same
SeaGirl replied to beauty29's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was a total sausage! I am in smaller pants now, but the jeans I'm wearing today fit when I was 20 lbs heavier and are just feeling loose now. I figure my hubbie will say something about it next weekend. These are my favorite boyfriend jeans by Tommy Holfiger. Go figure they don't make this cut anymore. Next.... -
Surgery 8/6. Down 36 lbs since surgery for a total of 45 with preop included. Thrilled!

Oh excuse me i didnt know the food police worked here!
SeaGirl replied to kim2002's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is really helpful in prepping for next week when I go visit my family. They are all watching me and haven't seen me since surgery. It'll be ok. I'm a big girl now and I'm truly happy today in a million ways. What I eat can be their issue, it doesn't have to be an issue for me. . -
Ok. I'm late, which you will learn is very normal for me. But I'm in. I'm going to strive for 100, today I worked out with my trainer for a solid 50 min but didn't have a pedometer on. So I'll get out and walk. Right now I'm home cleaning all of my clothes out of my closet and waiting for Comcast to fix my football channels. (sorry that's totally off topic and could turn this amazing thread very negative). I'm Carolyn, I live in the North Denver suburbs. It's snowing a little today, but we have a few months of good riding in Oct and Nov, so I'll be out on my new bike. I have Plantar Fascitis that I thought would resolve after surgery, but it's still troublesome. I work in Austin and it's getting cool enough there to get outside and walk. Great thread and I'm thrilled to find such an upbeat and supportive topic! Butter, hope you heal up quickly. I'm glad your wife is participating. Getting the family healthy is an amazing biproduct of having surgery.

Of course, it's only natural. i spent 35 years losing the battle. some times i think its not working. then i step back and evaluate....In pre-op and post (just 7 weeks) I'm down 40 lbs and am impatient. The last month it feels like its coming off really slowly. However, the weight is coming off and it's without cravings, moodiness and sabatoge. I'm truly grateful I was willing to go thru with surgery. Best wishes to you.

No, another surgeons office told me the plan I have will only cover the sleeve if my BMI was greater than 50! I went to Mexico.

Hubs and I have been out and split meals twice. I'm amazed at how conscious he is of how much is on the plate and how much he could eat now. One meal we had Mexican. He ordered a combo. All I wanted was the chicken from the burrito and a spoon of Refried beans. The chicken was so tough, I told him I wouldn't eat it. He gave me the beef out of what was left of his taco and offered to order more for me, which I declined. Dinner was 12 bucks. I was elated! He was happy to get to eat Mexican. We've split since and really enjoy this new perspective.
