Did ur spouse stay at hospital
karpouzian replied to huligoo's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My wife probably will, my children will be with my in-laws, and my mom, all of whom will be at the hospital at least the day of. -
I think it would be considered a 'full' liquid, so if you can do things like yogurt 5 days out, you should be ok, but ultimately, speak to your nut or doc

Anyone have him, or have heard of him?

Just curious if anyone had high blood sugars with him, and how was it handled? -

I need some supportive words (Diabetes)...
karpouzian posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know I've been complaining about diabetes lately, but this is killing me. I thought I'd test out the liquid diet today in an effort to lower my blood sugars, and... Diabetes sucks... I don't get it. All I've had today to eat is something with 8 grams of carbs, 30 calories (sugar free popsical), and water/sugar free Protein, and I'm still running high sugars. If I don't have this surgery soon, I'm going to die from diabetes... And I probably wont have the surgery soon because my sugars are high. /cry -
Well, I've tried a 'practice' liquid diet today... It went very well, and I was never starving. I had Protein Jello, some G3, some egg drop soup/broth, and I found out one thing. If I don't eat, I don't drink as much - this is something I DEFINITELY need to work on, as I know I'll need to stay hydrated post-surgery. Except for the bottle of G3, I didn't have any sugar/carbs except for the broth, and my blood sugar still didn't drop below 121 I'm doomed.

I take glybiride, and bydureon (injection)... -
Good luck with your approval. For some, that is the biggest barrier!

I want to ride my bicycle, i want to ride my bike...

Do larger men prefer a seat with nothing to... Interfere? I've been riding a bike lately (first time in YEARS) and it hurts the gentlemen. -
Well, I took a slow meander (a quick 20+min) on my new tricycle, on one of the several paths by my house, and I'm EXHAUSTED! My wife got worried when I came in from the ride, cause I was panting like a dog in heat, and my legs were a little wobbly... I hear people say it gets easy, I just don't believe it.

probably just worrying over nothing, but...

I struggle with my blood sugar, and I'm worried that after my labs, my doc will delay my surgery for at least three months... He's slightly ocd, and wants everything to be perfect, but a liquid diet for two weeks will reduce my sugars quite a bit... /sigh -

I'm a be on my liquid diet on the 4th that would suck

Cigna's new approval process
karpouzian replied to PGee's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I must have made my appointments far enough apart because I was approved... I would have been so ticked otherwise because it would have meant three more months of waiting as my appointments were Jan Feb and mar, and I'm just getting approved now -
I will keep up with it, I just whine a lot

I'm scheduled for my pre-op testing, and some of the tests are in the cancer ward! Should this make me nervous or concerned?

10 things I can't wait to do
karpouzian replied to Dualstarr's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
In no particular order 1. Be able to play outside with my four year old for longer than 5 minutes. 2. Not tell my wife for one whole day that it is too hot! 3. Buy clothes from wal-mart (wow, that sounds like I'm one of 'those people') 4. 'Experiment' with my wife 5. Go swimming without a shirt on. 6. Do any kind of non-sedentary activity for more than ten minutes. 7. By clothes without an x in the size. 8. Enjoy thing like going to the zoo, fair, museum, outdoors, etc. because I enjoy walking. 9. Fly a kite by running. 10. Not be tied to the couch/computer chair all evening. 11. Sit down in my tub, and not move to one side to let the Water pass. 12. Take a long relaxing shower and not get out after 5 min because standing hurts. 13. Have underwear that fits right. 14. Not be self conscious about having my picture taken. 4. I want to have clothes that reflect my style and not what I coud find that would fit me. (Stolen) 16. Not be embarrassed to post my photo on a weight loss surgery website (how stupid is that?) I'm sure I'll add more... -

Where do people find they can buy vitamins the cheapest? Wal-mart or some other type of online retailer?

Do they delay your surgery? Ys, every surgeon is different, etc., but did anyone experience this?

"Don't mess with what God gave you!" and other crazy comments
karpouzian replied to LOSINGLOOSEY's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
>"You could lose this weight if you really wanted to...you just need to have more discipline, not surgery!" Have YOU ever gone on a month long liquid diet? >"You shouldn't mess with what God gave you - he gave you a big stomach - that's what you should keep!" No, He didn't give me a big stomach, I gave me a big stomach. >"It's all just a fad....hopefully, you'll 'come to your senses' before the surgery!" It's a fad that has been going on for 30+ years. How are your bell bottoms? >"Why would you want to do that - you could just go to Weight Watchers and get the same results!?!" If it would have worked the first six times, I may believe you! -
They received my information last Tuesday. It has been through a couple of phases, they say it takes 5 business days, but today I got told Thursday or Friday... The waiting is just getting so tough now that I'm so close to a surgery date. I know, I'm a whiner
