Sounds like you are familiar with the cycle. In my 20s when it started, I was very traumatized and really thought it was horrible. I am almost 40 now and definitely have a tempered perspective. In the grand scheme of things, things definitely get worse.

Almost 3 Months With Pics And My Head Not Cut Off
ChaoticBliss replied to gamergirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is so great working together to be healthy together. You guys are so blessed. And you are making fantastic progress, keep up the good work! -
Follow your doctors plan and make sure you get Water, Protein, and Vitamins. I have a family predisposition to hair loss and this is my 4th rodeo in a "shedding " phase, so I was mentally prepared. Not everyone experiences it I will keep my fingers crossed for you. Thanks!!! I need all the kick I can get!

Ohhh RJ, I know that must have been so difficult. I am hopeful that I should not have such an extreme situation, but if I have learned anything, your beautiful profile picture proves that this too shall pass. Thanks for being an inspiration. Sympathy or no

Thank goodness you are okay. I have noticed that I have not been paying attention to my fluid intake like I should an I am only four months out. By 8 months I can see how easy it can be to become distracted and lose focus. Thank you for the reminder! Now take care of you!

Reasonable private pay doctor in US.
ChaoticBliss replied to chibabyy's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
The Woodlands TX here, I self paid and it was right at $15,500 My surgeon only got $5000 of that. The hospital was $8500 cash, the anesthesiologist was a deal at $1250 the rest was the preliminary fees (psych, nutrition, initial consult) and the blood work / radiologist. The hospital pathology gave me a 50% discount if paid within 30 days. I chose the surgeon and hospital based on stats and ratings so I was fine with paying a little more and was completely happy with my entire experience. -
3 month freak out
ChaoticBliss replied to ChaoticBliss's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
thanks for the advice. I have done a lot of reading and that is the reason I even recognized the subconscious chatter. Recognizing it is definitely the first step. -
Has anyone else run into this? I am right at 3 months and have lost 40 pounds. That puts me 30 pounds from goal. I have had steady two pound a week loss after the first month or so and all in all that is really great stuff. Everything I could have hoped for! So why am I freaking out a little. I mean I have lost 30 pounds in a year, but these few short months makes it feel a little surreal. I worry about excess skin, but not really, if that makes sense. I haven't hit the hair loss stage in force but I am dreading that. My subconscious just started screaming in the background. This is so fast, maybe you should slow down, you have lost so much so fast. My husband even noticed I was eating bigger servings. I realized my subconscious chatter was causing me to eat more. I expressed to him what was going on in my head and he said he could tell something was up. I currently weigh just under where I have spent the majority of my adult life. I think the prospect of actually surpassing it is a little scary to my psyche. I worked through that for about a week, I didn't lose that week, but I have since gotten back to my normal portions and am losing again. I think I am addressing the subconscious triggers that have surely helped with my strugglers all along the way. I was just wondering if anyone else had run into something like this along the way.

My doctor doesn't want me to have the sleeve :(
ChaoticBliss replied to AutumnPunkin's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
There are so many success stories with gastric bypass. My sister in law had hers 14 years ago and is happy and healthy today. It requires a shift in thinking, especially after years of gearing up for the sleeve. But if you trust your doctor, you should certainly consider it. If not, get a second opinion. Either way you are in control. It just may take a little while to wrap your head around it. -
Wow! Thank you so much for the update. Congratulations on your success and new lifestyle. When did you transition from tracking everything to just habit? I would live to get to that point someday, but I am not certain old habits wouldn't rare their ugly head.

Unbelievable charge for VSG to my insurance
ChaoticBliss replied to Bridget312001's topic in Insurance & Financing
At self pay my total out of pocket was right at 15k. That's all the little bills and pre op qualifications etc. They still made money on me. That really shows how out if whack insurance is. -
Little backstory. My husband is the only person who knows I had surgery. So I had a funny thing happen today. I was helping update my grandmother's antivirus on her computer and was about to head out when she asked me if I wanted this jar of pills. She tells me that they are "green coffee Beans that doctor Oz says will help you lose weight". She proceeds to tell me that before she got sick ( she is well now) she was taking them to lose weight. But since she lost 15lbs from being sick she didn't need them anymore. People... My grandmother is 89 1/2!!! This is what they mean by LIFELONG journey. I graciously accepted them as she knows I am trying to lose weight. But wow, that is realization.

ChaoticBliss replied to MumtazG38's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey just ran into this thread. Congrats on your surgery. I sure hope your issues are settling out and your progress is positive. I would fall into the lower bmi category I am 5.5 1/2 and my top weight (day of surgery) was 215. I was having bouts with high blood pressure and irregular heart rate. I am 7 weeks out today and have lost 29lbs. I am very happy with how everything has gone and am so grateful to have had the surgery. I can eat just about anything, sugar gets to me most (yay!). For me this was not to get model skinny, but rather to tip my hand in the battle against my weight and to aid in healthfulness and longevity. It's a marathon not a race and I plan on going for a long long time.
