Does having a baby ruin your sleeve and weight loss?
jacquelynn.mclean replied to Comfy_Blue's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
Get an IUD. No sense in making the hubs miserable too. Lol But my doc said that having a sleeve wouldn't be that big of a deal as opposed to the bypass. I didn't gain any weight but the bub was over 8lbs. If you can help it, don't get pregnant. It sucked having to be paranoid about my intake and wether or not the scale was moving in the right direction, etc. -

4 months post op and I'm pregnant
jacquelynn.mclean replied to cdunn's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
I got pregnant 2 weeks after being sleeved. During the pregnancy I lost about 50lbs. Some of the docs were worried because I was so ill and my food intake was limited. Just eat right when you can. Usually the baby won't go without because it takes from you and whatever you have stored. I ended up with an 8lb, 8oz perfectly healthy boy. There's not AS much to worry about with a sleeve compared to the bypass. And don't let them tell you that because you're sleeved you have to have a c-section. I've heard if people being told that. -

Does having a baby ruin your sleeve and weight loss?

If this were a competition, I think I'd win. I messed around and got pregnant 2 WEEKS after surgery. Boy was I angry. I ate what I wanted, but less of it. Sadly, it was not all weight loss friendly. But now that my babe is 4 months old, I'm struggling to keep my weight moving in the right direction. It sucks so bad. My pregnancy wasn't planned at all, but I wish I had been closer to my goal weight. I still have about a hundred to lose. -

pregnancy after sleeve
jacquelynn.mclean replied to jaymzee's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
Not sure if I was having ovulation problems...but I lost a little bit of weight and immediately became pregnant after surgery. Not intentional, but it was pretty quick. -
Like no morning sickness great? I'm supposed to be getting the shots but haven't started yet.

Are they like starbursts? Just not fruity?? Cause I sure need some of THAT.

The fact that none of your issues make their list is crazy. But I have heard of some people gaining weight so that they qualify under the BMI. sometimes these insurance companies lose sight of why this surgery is needed and works so well. I hope you get approved, without drama from BCBS.

Raleigh, Nc Sleevers?
jacquelynn.mclean replied to Susan 2.0's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'd be the first one to say that Raleigh is just as bad as Durham...the only difference is that they don't put all of Raleigh's business in the news like they do with Durham. And Cary, Apex, and even Holly Springs may not be that diverse, they're nice, quiet bedroom communities if you have a family. Just depends on what you're looking for. -

Questions for women who got pregnant after being sleeved

I was sleeved April 2013 and got pregnant a little too soon after surgery. I don't have anything to share with you now, but I will let you know! -
Raleigh, Nc Sleevers?

Most of the larger cities here in NC are pretty progressive. The smaller towns you might have SOME issue in. I'm biracial myself so I tend to been more keen on these things. My parents never had any issues in Raleigh and I see plenty mixed race couples in Durham. You do have to be careful on the area of Durham you're looking at, as well as Raleigh. But Durham is a beautiful city with lots of cultural activities year round. Cary and Apex are a little more quiet, but not as diverse as Durham or Raleigh. -

Durham is nice, you just have to be careful about the neighborhood. Briar creek is nice, but pricey. Cary and Apex are nice too. -
Struggling, two weeks post-op
jacquelynn.mclean replied to Museum-Mama's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I don't have any amazing words of wisdom but I will say this: I doubt the weight you're gaining is fat. It's probably you retaining water since you got pumped full of fluids at the hospital and are staying hydrated now. -

The only group I have found is one that meets for the County employees here in Durham. We should probably make our own where we all get together and hang out. Or maybe meet for lunch...at a sleeve friendly place or a park where we bring our own lunch. LOL -
Looking for a replacement for my lifelong diet pepsi~~
jacquelynn.mclean replied to vicki s's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I've had carbonated drinks lately...I was sleeved 4/29. It's not so much it stretching the sleeve, it's VERY uncomfortable, bordering on extremely painful. With that said, it'd be smarter to make your own drinks.
