Has anyone spent longer time on liquid diet then what the doctor suggests?
jacquelynn.mclean replied to JessicaAnn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
NUT = NUTritionist -
In looking for a gym and thinking about working out, I've been thinking about joining Curves. Outside of the issue of their hours and the lack of showers at their facilities...does anyone use them? hate them? love them?

Dehydration?
jacquelynn.mclean replied to jessica bowling's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is what my doctor recommended. Not getting enough Protein won't kill you...but not getting enough water will. -
How's my may 1st sleevers doing?
jacquelynn.mclean replied to kristy26's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had surgery the day before, on 4/29, and I am still quite sore on my big incision where they took the stomach out. I stopped taking pain meds on Wednesday but I'm still pretty sore. -
Has anyone spent longer time on liquid diet then what the doctor suggests?
jacquelynn.mclean replied to JessicaAnn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor had me (and other patients) on what they call "full liquids" for two weeks post-op. That was basically protein shakes, milk, and soup that can fit through a strainer. Then "soft foods' like yogurt and mashed potatoes after two weeks. Starting those things after a couple of days scared me...I wouldn't have been anywhere ready. I can't imagine that staying on liquids longer will hurt...I would think it'd only help! -
Post op day one- OUCH!
jacquelynn.mclean replied to kmschneiderpac's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It does get better. I spent four days in the hospital and was miserable. Once I got home I started doing MUCH better. Its cliche to say "no place like home" but seriously...there isn't. The pain might linger, but it's easier to get comfortable at home. -
Losing weight pre-op, then insurance doesn't cover the surgery
jacquelynn.mclean replied to Ree's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You could also just not do that great on your weight loss. Not that I would encourage insurance fraud, but I'm sort of encouraging diet fraud. -
I can eat 3 Popsicles (sugar free) in one sitting?
jacquelynn.mclean replied to Kellylynn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I love popsicles!!! I get the sugar free ones and eat the red and orange ones like it's my JOB!! -
Have you been checked for diabetes?? and I second the suggestion of seeing a podiatrist. Hope you get some relief soon.

I was going to post about not having a cycle like anorexic chicks don't have cycles...but someone beat me to it. I was sleeved on 4/29 and started mine the other day. The flow was INSANE but it's tapering off now. If I get to skip periods for a couple of months because of my weight loss then I am completely okay with that.

Is this someone that you're married to? That's just nonsense. And hateful.

Ideas for what to tell people?
jacquelynn.mclean replied to BriDawn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Only some of the people at my job know where I've been the last two weeks. You could just tell people diet and exercise and leave it at that. Or you can tell all of it, been a "sleeve evangelist" and talk about how great it is. Either way, people are going to talk about you. It's just the nature of working with catty women. But whichever way you go, own it and be proud. -

jacquelynn.mclean replied to Aaronmadeit's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm amazed that it has taken you this long to feel a difference! It's clear that you've lost a TON of weight in those pictures!! Keep up the good work. -
Before and After Pics
jacquelynn.mclean replied to Roserie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
All of these pictures are amazing. I took my before pictures the night before surgery. I looked at them yesterday and I wanted to just cry. I seriously cannot wait until I can post my own before and after pictures and be as proud as you guys are. -
I'm trying to find a low cost, cash pay option for a sleeve. I've seen where there is a clinic in Mexico that charges about $8k but would like to find a US option. Anyone know of a place??

So with all this talk of cheating on your pre-op, I have a confession.
jacquelynn.mclean replied to LipstickLady's topic in Pre-op Diets and Questions
There are several "after surgery" cookbooks. Check out one or a couple of those and see what they say. Might give you some new ideas and make the beans "sleeve friendly" -
When people usually stall on their weight loss, they "go back to basics" with their diet. Someone above said go back to a Protein rich diet with non-starchy vegetables and you might see some movement on the scale. I've also seen people say that their weight loss stops when they don't eat enough and eating more will restart it. Have you been able to talk to your doctor about your concerns? What is he/she saying about doing Jenny Craig?

jacquelynn.mclean replied to LipstickLady's topic in Pre-op Diets and Questions
I'm still trying to figure out where you "cheated." You can talk to your nurse, but I don't think there are going to be many issues. -
If your trying to cheat aiready. Your notvready
jacquelynn.mclean replied to tlah's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you're going to preach perfection, please use the spell check and proofread for grammar. You have no credibility. -
When can we drink soda
jacquelynn.mclean replied to amielou26's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
And since we're making parallels to addiction and recovery, it should be noted that relapse is a part of recovery. Just my two cents. -
And take pictures of it. LMAO

Embarrassing question....
jacquelynn.mclean replied to Stacey79's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm six days post-op and started mine today. It sucks. Badly. -
Anybody else get them?? Know how to make them stop?
