Hi all I am 5 weeks out now. We are headed out if town tomorrow and I am wondering if cooked veggies like squash and zucchini are ok now. I have had eggs, tuna, fish, and all have gone down really well. Also, when is a salad alright?

How long before you all started working out? I am 3 weeks post op yesterday and feeling great. Incisions are healed and closed, tolerating my diet very well and have had no problems. I started riding my bike a few days ago but just wanted to get others input.

Monday will be two weeks post op. says I can have eggs then, seems kind of early to me just from what I see in here...what does y'all's second week look like? I have been doing great on yogurt, pudding, and those foods. Paranoid to try new things :/

I'm sure! I read somewhere people eating eggs the first few days and I couldn't believe it! In my mind I will much better when I can get some protein and nutrients in. -
I was sleeves on Monday, so this is post op day 4. I am on clear liquids until Tuesday when I see the dr. Have done great so far. I'm really tired if sugar free Popsicles and broth. A friend brought up going to get snow come ice and they have sugar free calorie free carb free flavor toppings. Do you thjnk this would be ok? Not much difference than Chrystal light is it?

Pillow or Stuffed Bear?
startingtolivenow replied to ShariM735's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I guess it just depends on each case, but I didn't have an ounce of pain other than gas pains. Wishing that for you. Walking was simple too, I think I walked slower Andorra painful after a normal birth. Good luck! -
Quick question

Ok thanks for your thoughts. I will def stay sugar free! I'm a rule follower!! -
Hi all, I was sleeved today and the only pain I am having is gas. Im having a little nausea associated with the anesthesia. My dr doesn't offer anything for gas excep walking (which I have been doing all day). I brought done gas x strips with me, is there any harm in using them on day #1?? This gas is awful. Any of y'all use the gas x strips while still in the hospital?? Thanks!!

Great info! I am feeling better today, not near as much gas pain. I slept well and now I'm waiting to do the barium swallow. Then we will see what liquids I can tolerate I am not sure, but I actually think I am hungry, like legitimately hungry...my stomach kind of burns like it does when it's growling you know?? Who knows! -

Ok thanks for your info . I have myself been wondering how the gas gets from your abd cavity into your intestines to be expelled. Just ready for it to happen, any ideas when to expect it? -
I am on day 3 of the liquid diet and I am having very and dry mouth even with all the water. Is it alright to chew a piece of sugar free gum?

Hello everyone. I have been following the forum now for about 5 months when I started the process of this surgery. I wanted to make sure I was a canidate and that my insurance covered it (It does!! 100%!! no deductible even). I have been approved and my surgery is scheduled for June 24th. I am excited, but at the same time very scared. I think because I have failed so many times at this battle my mind has a hard time believing this is it...make sense? I have to start my pre-op liquid died the day I go in for teaching on the 11th, but I am going to start a pre pre-op diet today. My hope is to go through the withdrawls from sugar and cokes now rather than post op. I fear that if I do not do this now I will associate the withdrawl from food with my surgery and mistake it for a problem post surgery. I worry about the complications of surgery and if I am having terrible withdrawl from food I will assume something is wrong. Do I sound like a fool?? I just want to eat clean and healthy with no sugar, cokes, or gluten until the 11th when my liquid diet starts. Any advice or thoughts on this from someone with experience? I do not want to "eat while I can" I want to get my head in the game now so that I am not stuggling as bad mentally once the time comes. Thanks for your help!
