Anyone Else Getting Sleeved Tomorrow?
VSGKasey replied to nikkilee03's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The gas pains are gone pretty much as of the second day, day 4 and I almost feel like myself again. Good luck everyone with a speedy recovery, this is going to be an amazing journey! -
Well, I am SLEEVED!!! It honestly doesn't feel much different at all! I did have a hiatal hernia they had to repair, that was very uncomfortable for the first 2 hours after waking up, and the gas felt like something was sitting on my chest, but that has improved with every hour. Walking around and sipping Water to burp was the best relief. I am home now, on my couch watching TV. I will try to update my video blog journey today to describe more fully the experience and go show my incisions but I am just so thrilled. I'm happy to be a member of the club and I already don't miss my old stomach!

Swelling above incision - Post op help!
VSGKasey posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved Monday and all went well. I am not really sore anywhere anymore except over one of the incisions. It isn't hot or red, but it's swollen and hurts to touch. I was seen by the nurse yesterday who confirmed its not internal bleeding but that it looked to be swelling and she said this can be normal since its by the incision they take the stomach out through which can be the most irritated. Did anyone else experience it? It hurts when it's pushed on or when I'm using my stomach muscles to sit up or stand. Just looking for some piece of mind. Kasey -
Swelling above incision - Post op help!
VSGKasey replied to VSGKasey's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks so much all! I have a complicated medical history with lupus and blood clotting so I know I'm a little more paranoid than the average person about how my body reacts. It helps to hear others experienced similar symptoms! -

The gasses are incredibly uncomfortable. I had a hiatal hernia in addition to the sleeve and when I woke up I hurt a lot in my chest from the gasses. But, within a few hours of walking around and burping the pressure let up and I was more comfortable. I am sipping water constantly, I am home now after staying the night last night. Even though I'm very sore still I'm more excited than ever! It's over and now all I have to do is heal and listen to my docs and my body and all will be well. Can't wait to work on the first few days of the rest of my life! -
Anyone Else Getting Sleeved Tomorrow?

I'm in Washington state too! And I am tomorrow morning at 11 am. I am STARVING because its been 12 hours since my last meal and another 12 hours until surgery so it's torture right now, BUT I know it will all be worth it. I am scared, anxious and oh SO excited! Tomorrow can't happen soon enough! Everyone update after you are through! -
Agreed, I had a nurse ask me that. I'm at 39% BMI and 235 pounds, that's 100 pounds more than the doctor says is my healthy BMI, if that's not big enough that's crazy! But yes I don't think anyone would go through this, nor would the doctors perform it if there was absolutely no reason. Come on people! But I just shrugged it off and said "thanks".

the final countdown...
VSGKasey replied to makemyownluck's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am up tomorrow morning also, I can relate to it finally feeling REAL! I have been talking about this for months but it seemed like a million years away. Now it's less than 24 hours and I'm nervous, excited, and ready to be over the surgery hump and back to healing. I have a history of blood clots so I'm on the shots and will be edgy until 2 weeks have past, then I'll know the greatest danger is over for me and I can enjoy moving on! Cannot wait for this next phase of life!!! -
Two days to go and feeling wobbly
VSGKasey replied to Sydney Susan's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Mine is on the 29th as well! We're sleeve sisters, lol! OK so I'm with you on the wobbly part. To the point of doubting my decision. I have a BMI of 39.9, about 90 pounds to lose so not a ton of weight, similar situation to you. But I too love entertaining, going out, being social and am a little afraid that will change with the surgery. But I'm trying to remember it's going to change how I eat, not stop me from eating all together. And if the trade off is that I am healthy, confident, and a good role model for my 3 year old daughter, I know that I must do this. So I'm just carrying forward and counting the hours until it will be in the past and behind me!!! -
Pre-Op and nervous with a slight cold!
VSGKasey replied to VSGKasey's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine is now definitely a cold but I spoke to my nurse, she said as long as there isn't any swelling in my throat, no chest congestion and no fever and I can somewhat breathe out of my nose I should be okay. Crossing diners this is the worst of it and that I can heal in the next 72 hours! -
Pre-Op and nervous with a slight cold!
VSGKasey posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello- I'm new here, my surgery is 4 days away and the last two days I've had a scratchy throat and a little popping in my ears. No coughing or nasal congestion, but I'm worried what will happen if I get more symptoms? Will they postpone? I think I might stave off this cold and will be drinking airborne until the day of surgery hoping to keep healthy. Also, I'm very scared of the surgery itself, it's become more real to me as the days approach. I keep telling myself I have had 3 surgeries in my life as well as given natural child birth, this should be a cake walk! But alas, I am still scared. Excited for the future, but worried. Any advice would REALLY help me out! Plus... I would like to meet my first fellow sleeve friends. . I'm 28, HW 240, CW 231, I have a three (almost 4 year old) daughter who is my best friend and who I'm hoping will also benefit from this surgery by learning a healthy way of life. -
