brendani reacted to lilyrose in July 2013 sleevers
Oh I'm so hearing you about your knees. My knee, one in particular is so bad at the moment. It's 9.15pm here and I'm lying in bed with a heat pack feeling very sorry for myself. Dr thinks that it will improve once I lose weight. It's really freezing here at the moment as well so I don't think that cold weather helps
I think that over here in. Oz land things must be done a lot differently as overhere we don't need to do the sleep study, not all people have the endoscopy. When you go and see your surgeon he gives you a date for surgery then and there, you do need to go and see a dietician, you can normally get in the next week to see dietician.I didn't need to see a psychologist either. In saying that though I did when I had my lap band so maybe that's the reason why I didn't have to again. Also in regards to insurance company, I just give my surgeon all my details and I don't need todo a thing. My friend just booked his surgery last week, he does need to have an endoscopy tomorrow and is going to see dietician next weeks. He's booked in for surgery 3 days after me.. It's funny how different places have different rules.. Anyway I'm going to call it a night, sweet dreams, take care and chat soon and I'll also spraying for you guys as well. Please let me know when you have a date.. I hope soon xxxxx

WOW Misty that is fantastic!!!
I'm still going strong with the pre-op day 2 was better and I hope day 3 is even better still. I go and see me Dr today for a last check up before surgery monday week. Then I get to pay for my sleeve this Friday!!! It's becoming VERY real! Kinda getting more nervous but still VERY excited to start my new and healthy life. I have told everyone I'm having this done and their all behind me which is fantastic! Only my sister is funny about it, but we all think she is a bit green! Lol. So I just don't talk to her about it.
Keep up the great work everyone. Oh Brendan, I have been going through the same mind problems but everything I read from here puts me to rest. I know it's hard but just think, u'll live a longer and healthier life!!!

Brendani, I can't add any more sage advice than the others have already given you except to say if you want a 'Man's perspective', have a look at some old (pre Christmas 2012) and then some recent photos of Joe Hockey(April 2013)...he was sleeved over the Christmas break and he has lost 'heaps'..he leads a 'nomadic' life backwards and forwards to Canberra, and he has succeeded as you will.
You can do this, just hang in there and keep talking about any concerns. I'm sure there will always be someone who can help you out.
Best Wishes
Michele

Lissa, definitely still up for a road trip to BrisVegas.....Deano you are on single guy duty lol. Some time in July works at this stage, June is going to be work crazy.
Brendani, it is natural to be afraid and scared of how this is going to affect your life. I can only tell from my experience but I know the fears I had pre-op (and they were huge) seem like such a waste of energy.
I am coming up on 2 years (well in Sept anyway) and my life is so normal. I travel, for work and personally, eating hasn't been an issue for a long time. Most people don't recognize the amount I eat as being anything abnormal now. I drink, and sometimes too much, my social life has kicked up a notch and am drinking probably more than pre-surgery. I don't endorse drinking too much but I choose everything in moderation now.
In regards to energy, after the initial recovery period I have more energy to do everything, early on I was sustaining twice a day work outs and not feeling a reduction in energy levels. Nowadays I work out 5-6 times a week, and feel weird if I don't do it.
The first 6 -8 weeks are hard, adjusting, fatigue etc but it gets better and oh so quickly. I was actually travelling internationally at the 8th week.
It is normal to be afraid, just trust in the reasons you are doing this and that you have made the right choice for you.

Hi brendani. We will be sleeved in the same week.I am booked July 3rd and-like you- am waiting on a "just in case" endoscopy. I have started using Protein Bars for Snacks and trying out the optislim shakes and soups.Thought it would be good to get into the mindset as this will be the last diet *ever* once my tummy has healed.Yay!

Thanks mate. Everybody wishes everybody luck (I do it too) but the reality is once you have this tool there is no luck. There's some hard work (a reasonable amount) and staying focused - but no luck required!
As far as being an inspiration goes, if your numbers are similar to mine and looking at my results makes you know that this is really achievable - I think that's great.
All the best,
Deano

You're killing this Misty!
Just finished with Dr Nolan. Ordered a blood test and gastroscopy (being thorough). Tentatively booked for July 5.
Feeling a little apprehensive again but really can't wait to get this underway. Decision is made now.

Took a second walk just now before lunch I has half am optislim Soup. I'm about to have a fruit juice ice pop. The worst thing is when I get some air down my throat when I swallow too quick and I get a pain in my shoulder.

Totally agree with Kelli about the gurgling. Mine was in the beginning, I would hear all types of noises, now just the odd noise escapes but never been a problem in public and have never experienced reflux...in fact, I have had no issues at all and wouldn't hesitate in a heartbeat to do it all over again! My only regret is I didn't do it years ago. I am in a really good place in my life and I honestly could not find this place before my op which has allowed me a total change in mine and my families lifestyle.

Hi Brendan and Tash, several of us on this thread have experienced a bit of a gurgling noise in the beginning but it disappears after a while and it seems to have a lot to do with timing of drinks and eating. It's never been an issue for me in public and it's nothing to worry about. The best thing I can suggest is try not to over think everything. By all means do your research, then trust in your decision.
