Hey Michelle, I left from a tiny reginal airport, I was about an 1hr and 15 min early, when I checked in and went through the security line and still waited for 45 min to board. But if you are leaving out of Dallas, I would probably be between 2 and a half to 3 hrs. just in case. Remember no liguids on carry ons, not even water, my wife had to throw away hairspray and hair gel(not to happy with me). Also if you have any liquids they have to be in a quart sized ziplock bag, and no more than 3 or 4 oz. I'm proud of you, you are going to do well, I have a good feeling, talk to you soon. Danny

Hey Michelle, your going to do great!!! My expierence was awsome, It went so fast, I swear I landed in Monterey(my phone worked, called Alltel they had an international plan), they picked me up at the gate(nice car), straigt to the hospital(checked in), I met the nurse(all the pre op was done),met the dr. and the anestiologist, went straight to surgery, all this happened within 2 hours, was back in my room at 10:30 pm, my wife sais I was pretty out of it, about 1:30 am, I got out of bed and started walking(just like they say), I met 2 other nice women who had the procedure done that day, they were both doing well, but I never fell back asleep, I would watch the 3 english channels, a little apple juice, ice chips, and water. Every half hour that night, I walked, with very little pain, I guess you feel very bloated with soreness in your belly, like you did 300 situps. It's been over 3 and a half days, I can look at food, No cravings, that is a miracle in its self. The hotel was nice(Shereton 4 points), it connected to a nice size mall(Liverpool), so I walked a lot. Sleeping on my back, thats been a little bit of a challenge, I took some liquid tylenol for the port pain, it has helped a lot, been using the gas strips(need I say more). Probably the most embarrasing thing, I'm not constipated, I have direahea(Thank god for my wife or toelet tongs), she has been a savior. I was eating that sugar free hard candy, but I recommend to stay away from it!! Monterrey was very industrialized, it was not very clean, but overall, I felt very safe. You will see more billboards in monterrey than anywhere you will ever go, if the room you have channel 5, 23, 29 are the english ones! Please Michele, walk as much as you can, when you wake up from surgery(you will be very groggy, you will be in and out, at that point I was thinking, This was the dumbest thing I have ever done, but after you get over that groggy part, everything seemed normal. Plus I was on a mission: WALK, WALK, WALK, WALK ETC.. I hope I do not go through bandsters hell, I am so full right now. I did get a little heart burn, 33 yrs. old never had heartburn, kind of weird. I love being banded, I feel like I have discipline, I hope we all can get together one day, you guys have been the best. I wish you the best of luck and I will pray for all of you. Danny

I got in last night, everything went well, my mexico expierence was wonderful,Dr. Zapata is incredible, the hospital was super clean and modern, the room me and my wife stayed in was huge, along with the bathroom, I could actually fit in the shower. I'm having a little port pain, I guess it is more of a discomfort, my stomach feels like I did about 300 crunches, sore but very tolerable. It's been 3 and a half days, I've lost 14lbs, I feel like I am shrinking, I can't say enough about the support everyone on this site has given me, if it was not for my wife and you guys I would probably still be reading all these threads,not answering any of them, and say maybe next month I'll have surgery, it is time for change. I have a lot of reading to catch up on, you guys are lightning typers. My 3 words a minute, just doesn't measure up. I love all these ladies, everyone of you are so kind and warm to me, and have helped with so much support. Although my estrogen level is peeking, need a little bit of testostrone in this group. This group is wonderful MEN ask them any questions you can think of, they are very informative. It's Saturday(noonish), here at work, catching up, since I have all of next week off, so excited, I leave Gainesvill FL at 10:40, fly to Atlanta, 1 hr layover, fly to monterrey, land 3:15, do all the preop tests and have surgery that night, fly home on thursday, rest the week end, back at work Monday, to give all of you my expeience. 3 more days , and a new journey begins. I am so up for the challenge!! You guys posted a question about 20 pages ago. Why are you fat and our you embarrassed? Yes I am embarassed, I hate going out in public, I always dress baggy, trying to hide my body, it even makes guys self consious. Asking for a table( I like Booths, just don't fit), My wife loves me, my family loves me, my friends love me. That should be enough(maybe for some), My whole life whats up big guy? You must of played football, I hate to feed you! It seems like I here this daily, I wish one time someone would say, whats up normal guy! I have not always been fat(Husky), I'm 6'0 305lbs actually gained 20lbs in the last two months, I don't believe I have stopped eating since I knew I was getting banded(Not to smart, but it sure tasted good). I graduated high school in 1991 from a small town I weighed 225, just a little belly 32 levis, now I'm in 42 levis, looks like one of thos big ole beer bellys, I promise you it is not beer(don't care for the taste), I got married in 2001 was about 270 for the last 6 years been on every diet, and been pretty faithful to the gym. I just love to eat that good ole fried southern food, including all those homade deserts. I'm one of those clean the plate club members, then I'll clean my wifes, daugters, etc., That desire of eating everything is so strong. It seems like when I'm full I have to strech it. Well all of these desires are going to stop. Because I'm taking charge of my life, My little girl(Callie), my wife(Leila) and our future baby(Feb 17,2008), just found out this morning, mean so much to me, that I am going to get healthy for them. Hey Michelle, I know what you mean by that overpriced flight, 2 days after I made my flight, my wifes flight was $400.00 more, but I think it will be worth it, well maybe(she is pregnant) , maybe I should of went bymyself, just kidding you know us guys are the biggest babies!! Hey Dini, I'm glad you are feeling better, this group is amazing, you all are so funny. I'm half Irish, half Polish, I guess a dumb drunk!! Just kidding!! I visited Ireland when I was 15-16 Iloved it,I got to kiss the Blarney stone. Can't wait for my surgery, July 9th, I have some good news for the group, I found out yesterday, that my wife can go with me, I was a little scared and nervous. Dr. Zapata in Monterrey Mexico, I am so happy, I'm going to start a new life, be a healthy Husband and father. This was a tough descision, been thinking about this for months, I am traveling alone( a little nervous), but I'm a 33 yr. old man, I need to quit whining. All those pre existing conditions that run in my family(obesity, type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure,strokes, heart disease), maybe I can beat these, I'm 305lbs. hope to get to 180lbs. and healthy. No Michelle I'm using Dr. Zapata, He is a Guru they tell me, I have been doing so much research, I just can't wait. Do you know anyone who has been banded? I have 2 close friends, one of them used Rhumbaut, praise everything about him, the other one used somebody in Gainesville Fl, Hipp I think, every thing seems well for him. Pandagirl, I have yet to be banded, July 9th to be exact, I have 2 close friends who have been banded, 1 has no problems at all, he exercises, eats 3 meals a day and chews his food, he follows all the rules and never pbings, and has lost over a 100lbs, my other buddy, does not listen to any of the rules pbings alot, but he eats whatever, doesn,t exersise and still lost over 100lbs, I'm going to follow all the rules, I want to be a healthy husband and father, it is going to take dedication and hardwork, take care and good luck, Danny
