I need to get myself under control weight wise and feel this is my only option after weighing myself and seeing myself near the 300 mark. I am a mother to 4 adult children and want to live long enough to be there for when they have grandchildren. I have a wonderful partner who mentioned that I look into lap band surgery cause he cares about me and is worried about my weight that just keeps creeping up. I was hurt when he mentioned it at first but then realized that he is correct and he is doing it out of love and concern. So I immediately this past month started researching the lap band but just didn't feel right about it as I am paying out of pocket for whole thing and feel that it is too expensive afterwards with fills and chances of it slipping or eroding or after 10 or 15 years needing to be replaced. I feel more at peace getting the gastric sleeve due to fact the money is up front and then no more out-of-pocket costs with it needing to be replaced or filled etc. Since I have to pay for this out-of-pocket from my retirement fund....I am going to Mexico to get it done as it is 1/4 the cost of getting it done in my area.
