hi bubble . my niece is from bally connell in co, caven . she is going to brussells to dr. de brun to get banded on 11 september. she is getting the 4000 package, they are also going to replace my daughters band on yhat day. she got hers with acs who seem to have been very bad. the brussells group are trying to fix all there mistakes. you can email them at frederik.sernells@ecfs.be. he will be in dublin for band fills and appointment on thursday 4th sept. good luck

well my daughter got her band done in acs. had similar problems to u but she found out about a crowd from belguim who have a monthly clinic in dublin. they will take u for fills. they charge 120 and they will put in up to 4 mils at a time if needed. they are very nice. i think it would be worth checking them out. my daughter is very happy now

I think your right, you can't be friends with an x not for the first while. you need to get over him and the only way you can do that is not have him in your life. I know you still have to meet because of your child but keep that civil and quick. It is going to take awhile to get over him as he was a big part of your day to day routine for a long time and no he's not anymore.

Hi All, Went to see Fredrick today and it's official my band is leaking. It will cost between two and four grand to get fixed in Brussels. My appointment is for the 11th of September. Bit upset about it all. Sorry Elsie was a bit shocked when I came out and wasn't very chatty. I knew myself my band was leaking but them actually confirming and telling me I needed an op to fix it upset me a bit. Made it seem real I suppose! Can't believe I paid 10k for and band and probably another 4k to fix it.... I doubt the hosital group will want to know.

Ailbe, You'll be fine... you already have lost a ton of weight and probably looking fab! You'll have the men falling at your feet!

I think I've a bit of a problem, I've had great restriction in the band for about 6 months, any time I feel the restriction going( ususally takes a few weeks) i get another fill and i'm grand again. Retriction usually goes very slow and even though it's going I can only eat certain things. Over night my restriction seems to have gone. I was out with my friends on sunday for the dub match and we went for food and as usuall i could hardly eat... then monday i was able to eat like I've never had the band. I even managed a whole mac chicken sandwhich meal and a cake straight away after (i Know i shouldn't but it's been so long and knowing i could i just couldn't resist). Could I have a leak and is it serious if I do? Does it mean i need a new band? I rang acs to book a fill but was told they haven't got a surgeon at the mo. Unsure what to do.

Well done Ailbhe, I know how great that feels. Try not to get to carried away with buying smaller sizes cause soon they'll be to big for ya!

Hi Simone, I don't really think supplement fibre is a good idea, I tried it myself. I find if i eat weetabix and proper brown bread soaked in soup, this really helps. Much healtier

yes i totally agree, I find i still try and force feed myself sometimes till i'm overful due to comfort eating, the only thing is i don't get the same comfort out of eating now as I cant eat as much, I cry alot more now which i suppose is a good thing as I didn't before. I do think councelling is a good Idea for some banders. I was very slim growing up and didn't over eat or even crave food, I started putting on weight when i was pregnant and never lost the baby weight and gained even more weight after she was born due to comfort eating. I suppose the issues i developed from the time I got pregnant till I got the band were never really dealt with. So even though we're fixing the effects we're not really fixing the problem. Hope that makes sense.

He was actually cool about it, asked how much weight I'd lossed and said I looked great, then he told me that he used to be really over weight too! which was great cause I felt less concious then. All's going well we met up again on Sat and we're going to the cinema tomo night.

Don't worry, the weight will come off it just takes time. I'm banded 10 months and still haven't reached my goal. Sometimes i can't believe how much I lost cause it's usually only a pound here or there and some weeks i don't loose but it all adds up. As for food getting stuck in the port, i still have that problem and avoid food i know will get stuck like red meat, chicken and bread.

today I went on a lunch date with a guy i met last weekend, he kept asking me if i wasn't hungry cause i hardly ate so in the end i told him the truth about the band. How do you deal with this? I'm open about my band all my friends and family know.

yes I find i'm in a bad mood more and i think it's cause i used to comfort eat when i was sad before and now i can't comfort (not properly anyway). I think you need a new addiction like the gym, unfortunatly mine's shopping. I've read other post on this site where people have become addicted to something else, maybe you should check them out.

What time on the 8th are we meeting. Think my appointment is at 11.30am

I'm booked in for a fill on the eight of May and they never even told me they moved. Think i'll ring just to confirm. Do you know what i don't get, my cousin who is the same age as me is about 22 stone. She knows i have the band and how much it cost an all but still hasn't got it done or even talked about getting it herself. I know it's not a problem with money. I just think it's very strange and sad cause she'd be so much happier if she did it.
