    100 mile challenge

Once again I didn't get in a bike ride today but I did get in 2.67 miles walking. That puts me at 85.7 for the month. My goal for the end of the weekend was 90 miles. I will definitely be riding tomorrow if I want to make that. Great job everyone! We are almost there! Keep up the great work!

    tortilla 5weekspost op.

I did the exact same thing the other day. A small tortilla, a slice of turkey deli meat and a slice of swiss cheese. Rolled it and popped it n the microwave for 25 seconds. Tasted awesome!

    100 mile challenge

It seems I may be slowly coming out of my stall. I have increased my water and protein intake as well as changed a couple other eating habits and I have actually been loosing 1 pound each day for the last 3 days. I will take it! I am now back down to my lowest weight. Time to keep kicking it in gear! Have a great day everyone and drink that water!

    100 mile challenge

WHEW! I did it...broke the 10 miles mark today for the first time and I am whipped! I did a 2.56 mile ride this morning, walked 3.41 miles today as well and I just finished a 20 minute 5.4 mile ride on the recumbent bike. That put me at 11.37 miles for today and a grand total of 80.5 miles. I have to admit, I am amazed at myself and where I have come from to now. This challenge is awesome and exactly what I need! Thank you BTB and everyone else for the motivation!
  13. Great job!! Keep up the great work.

    100 mile challenge

I just finished a 10 minute 2.56 mile ride on the recumbent bike. My goal today is to do something I haven't done yet. Break the 10 mile mark in 1 day. My best so far was 9.39 miles this past Monday. Time for a little push! My overall total now stands at 71.7 miles. I want to challenge everyone to try and push yourself a little further than you usually go today. I hope everyone feels as good as I do! Have a great day everyone!

    100 mile challenge

Well, had a crazy busy day today so no bike ride today. But, I did manage to get 2.75 mile walk in. That puts my total so far at 69.1. Holy crap! If you told me 2 months ago I would be doing this I would have died laughing. Thanks BTB for the challenge and thanks everyone for the motivation and encouragement.

    100 mile challenge

Thanks. I went in today for my 1 month follow up and everything went great. Even with the stall I was down 2 pounds since my visit 2 weeks ago. That puts me down 47 pounds down since my pre op appointment on 8/12 so no complaints here. I spoke with the Dr. and we also think I may be holding some fluid since being taken off my BP med which may have had a diuretic. I will be checking with my Cardio Dr. tomorrow about that. I know it will pass and like I said before...it will NOT slow me down. Just a bump in the road.
  18. I understand the temptation, but it is best to be strong and fight it. I don't dare even go in places like that right now because of the temptation. I do understand about being tired of the same food. Have you tried fish? Salmon has a ton of Protein in it, Tilapia has a good amount as well and there are many different and easy ways to cook them. Turkey has alot as well if your Dr will let you have it. I get the shaved deli turkey sometimes and just have about 3 slices ( pending on how big they are). Stay strong and fight the urge for fast food...You can do it. As for exercise, walking, running or biking is great for starting after surgery. I also use resistance bands for exercise. It won't build muscle but can help tone the skin a little to prevent sagging as you loose weight. Check out the fitness section on this forum, there are alot of people involved in alot of things. We are doing a 100 mile challange right now this month. I have walked and rode my exercise bike more in the last 3 weeks than ever before and loved every second of it. Check it out. Good luck buddy.

    Question about C25k

I am planning on starting the C25K program on Sept. 30th. That will be about 6 weeks post op for me. I know I will probably have to repeat some of the weeks. I will just be going at my pace that I can handle. In the last 10 years I have had 2 knee surgerys and one on my ankle for a partial torn achilles. I will not be in any hurry. If it ends up being a 12 week program for me...so be it. gamergirl...just go at your pace, what is comfortable to you. Try to stay with the program, but if you have some issues on certain days, just do what you can. If at the end of the week, you don't feel you are where you should be, repeat that week. I don't see any harm in that. None of us are trying to be marathon sprint runners this soon in the game so adjusting the workout a little to suit your needs shouldn't be a problem. As for your son, I would encourage the same for him. Maybe even see if he can at least walk 30 minutes on days he is away. Maybe work together to map a course for him or see if there is a track at the school near him that he can maybe walk or run on his own. Most tracks at schools are right at a 1/4 mile if I am not mistaken. I think it would be great if ya'll did that together. Good luck and keep us all posted.

    100 mile challenge

Today I walked 2.28 miles and just finished a 3.04 mile ride on my bike in the garage. I stopped because my knee that I had surgery on last year for a torn meniscus started bothering me. I had to listen to it and stop. No biggee, just needed a break. That put me at 5.32 miles today and a total of 66.4 miles for the month. Great job everyone! Keep it up!

    100 mile challenge

Ok...I already logged my ride this morning but today I walked a total of 2.85 miles and I just rode another 4.04 miles to make todays overall total including this morning to 9.39 miles and my overall total to 61 miles even. I pushed it pretty good today and I feel the burn in my legs but it feels great. I haven't felt that in years.
