Got in 4 miles walking today. That puts my total at 30.54 miles to date. Picked up my new toy after work today! Tomorrow...I ride!!

She is doing great. No pain, sleeping decent and holding down shakes and water with no problems. Every day is a little better than the day before. She has been a little slow on starting to walk but she has her pace and I respect that. I will just have to lap her...lol Thanks for asking. Georgia...sorry about your setback. Rest up and get well quick.

Slow day for me today. Only got in 2.75 miles today. That puts me at 14.92 miles so far. I probably won't get much in tomorrow. Going to take my Mother-in-law over to Dallas to catch a flight. I am gonna check out Performance Bike while there though. Have a great weekend everyone!

Hello there...well I walked 2.35 miles and rode the recumbent bike for 4 miles today. That puts my total at 12.17 miles so far. I learned a good lesson today...you get what you pay for. I was looking at a Trek mountain bike. I decide to save money and go with the Mongoose brand from Walmart instead. Well, that was a joke. Piece if junk and didn't fit my 6'2" frame. Well that is what I get. So I took that back today and went and bought the Trek like I should have to begin with. I get to pick it up Monday...being assembled brand new out of the box! Woo Hoo!!!

Happy hump day everyone! Hope everyone had a great day. Been busy today with the wife. She was discharged today and is now home and resting comfortably. Soooo....I have been repaying my debt to her. You see, I have had 9 surgeries since we met 15 years ago. This is her first. She has babysat me thru 9 so I am taking extra good care of her on this one. She deserves it! Thank you everyone for the well wishes and prayers. She says Thank you! As for my walking, I was able to do a total of 3.05 miles today which puts me at 5.82 miles total. Not as much as I want to have a this point but best I could do so far. BUT...I just finished checking my tires and everything on my new bike that I haven't had a chance to ride yet. I will be breaking it in tomorrow for a few miles. Great job everyone for what you have done so far. Like I said, it doesn't matter if you do 1 mile or 20 miles a day, just do what you can. It is not a race. And drink your water, water water!!!

Hello everyone! Been a long day at the hospital with the wife and I went in and worked 4 hours today as well. Not as much time to exercise as much as I wanted to but I did get in 2.77 miles today. I will take it! Great job everyone and it looks like a great start to October! Keep it going!

I was 6 weeks post op yesterday and I started this past weekend doing some short running segments in my walking. I started a light jog for about 50 yards at a time. Damn I run hard footed. I felt like Bigfoot running thru the forest hiding from the cameras. I will continue to increase my distance a few more yards at a time. I was going to start the Couch to 5K program this week, but with my wife having her sleeve surgery yesterday, I have decided to push that back to start next week. I cleared starting that program with my Dr. first.

Well folks..it is now October 1st! It is awesome to see so many new faces with us this month! I also love seeing some new faces who are pre op! Trust me, you will all have a blast challenging yourselves and accomplishing things you never thought you could do. Trust me, that was me last month. Welcome to you all as well as last months participants! Have fun, pace yourself and log those miles! Good luck everyone! Let the madness begin!

Glad to hear everything went great buddy! Drugs after surgery are a wonderful thing!

Sorry it took so long to respond but everything went great! She has had very little pain and I just got home from the hospital where she was asleep like a cute little baby! There was a delay getting her into surgery for some reason so she didn't even go back til 11:30am. The Dr. was very happy with her surgery and her progress so far. I have no doubt she will be up and at it as soon as possible. Thanks for asking.

Hey there everyone. Today has been a great day. My wife's surgery went great and the surgeon was extremely happy afterwards. I have spent the entire day at the hospital, lots of waiting and walking around between the waiting room, cafeteria, the car, her room, etc. I was able to get a total of 3.06 miles in today which puts my final total for the month of September at 126.9! I still can't believe I was able to do this so soon. Thank you everyone for the motivation! Great job and I can't wait to see everyone's progression next month!

The funny thing about this is that I have Afib and cardiomyopathy. So, my heart usually runs fast but apparently when I sleep it slows way down more than usual. The highest my heart has gotten is 190 bpm. That was pretty scary. Thank goodness for meds. Loosing weight won't really help this, but won't hurt.
-
Welcome aboard to all the new faces! Glad to have you. Just go at your pace. This is not a race or a competition. Just a friendly challenge that Butter started and I just want to continue because it helped me so much to see everyone's progress and see my own. It is very motivational!

It was funny, when I had my sleeve, my resting rate at night was 43. The nurses kept asking me how I was feeling and I kept telling them fine. The 2nd night, the telemetry dept called the nurses to alert them that my resting rate was down to 50. They laughed and said, just wait it will go to low 40's.

I got in 1.80 miles today for a total of 123.8 miles. I am not sure how much I will get tomorrow with my wife having her sleeve surgery. There will a lot of time and waiting so I will be walking the halls for sure. I have already started the October challenge link. I hope to see everyone again next month as well as some new faces. Great job everyone!

Thanks, she is very excited. She was due to have surgery 3 weeks ago but it was delayed by the cardiologist. We are excited to take this journey together.

3 more miles today...puts me at 122 for the month. I still can't believe I have done this much. Kind of hard not to with this much motivation. Great job everyone. I will start the October challenge link tomorrow.
