    5 hours out - reporting :)

    Congrats and get some rest.
  10. Well, I sit here patiently waiting for insurance approval. It was submitted 2 weeks ago. I know it was submited because the RN for United Healthcare called to go over some pre and post op info with me. Even asked me when my surgery date was in which I replied, "I don't know, do you know something I don't?" No answer for that question. I have United Healthcare so not sure how long it will take, but the wait is killing me!! If I had hair I would have pulled it all out by now.

    Patiently waiting

Thanks for the info and actually, I called the Dr's office shortly after making my post and they still showed it as pending. She called me back a little later and said that she contacted insurance and they should hopefully have everything and an answer in the next day or so. I was hoping to have surgery the week after July 4th, but unless I get approved and start the pre-op diet by Saturday, I am going to have to wait til Aug. Atleast I will have a date then though. I really don't see July happening though. We shall see.
  12. WOW...sorry to hear about your misadventure. It will get better for you. Thanks for sharing the humor at your expense. I had a similar issue once when I had my gallbladder removed. Definately not a fun experience. Sounds like you have a great hubby there.
  13. As we all know, you are not supposed drink fluids while eating your meals. This is a big concern for my wife, who is also having the surgery, because she drinks fluids constantly every day and is afraid of how she will handle not drinking while eating. Did anyone else have this concern and how did you handle or overcome this fear after surgery? Any suggestions for her? Thanks.
  14. It has been 2 weeks for me so far. I talked to the surgeons office friday and they showed insurance as pending. They were going to check with them today about it. Then, about an hour ago, I got a call from insurance wanting to verify some information and make sure I understand who is and who may not be in network as far as Dr, hospital etc. They will be calling me back this evening. Hopefully not much longer.
  15. Ok gentleman, I have a question for you. I know that after surgery, one of the side affects can be hair loss or thinning. For me, the thinning of hair is not a major issue because my hair left the top of my head years ago so I shave my head now. But my question is, what about facial and body hair? I do have a beard and just curious if facial hair also thinned? Just wondering if anyone else had noticed.
  16. Looking great! My wife is going to have the procedure done as well a couple months after I have it done. We are both excited! I wish you and your husband lots of luck!! Keep up the great job!
  17. I got my clearance from my Cardiologist on Friday for surgery! Now it is just a waiting game on insurance. My surgeons office also called on friday and said that my status still showed pending and that they would call insurance on monday (today) to see if they could find out more information. Everything was submitted about 2 weeks ago. I am hoping to make it in time for vacation time I have scheduled in July, but if I don't get my clearance and start my liquid diet by the end of this week, I will have to put surgery off til August. Keeping my fingers crossed.

the worst thing about the sleeve so far...

Stay strong and stay focused and you will do just fine. It is kind of like when I quit chewing tobacco (I know gross habit) several years ago. I went without for a little while but then started having cravings and thought, well maybe just a small one. Well a small one built back up to a bigger chew and more often. Just have to stay focused and fight the craving. I did and have not had a chew of tobacco in about 7 years. Now I am ready for this challange. You will do great!

    July 2013 sleevers

I am hoping to make the July list! I am just waiting on a insurance now. Everything was submitted last week. I already have vacation scheduled in July so hoping it all works out and can have it then.
  20. I have been watching several posts here about hair loss after the sleeve surgery. For me, it is no biggie because I shave my head. But, my wife is considering the surgery as well and is greatly concerned because she already has thin hair. Does the hair loss happen to everyone who has the surgery or just a select few? I know she can take Biotin as well as eat plenty of proteins to help. She is really struggling with this issue. Can anyone offer some help or advice? Thanks.
  21. Thanks everyone. I will show her this tonight. Good luck to you all with your journey.
