    August 2013 Roll Call

Well, I am 1 week post op, 11 pounds down, 1 pant size down, I am feeling great, holding down my protein shakes and liquids and getting excited about the soft food stage. I have my follow up appointment weds the 28th. I am a total of 30 pounds down from my pre op diet and post op. My wife starts he pre op shake diet tomorrow. I hope everyone else from the 19th and all other dates are doing and feeling as great as I am! Life is great right now!!!

    Pre made shakes

I used the GNC Total Lean shakes for on the go and lunch at work. They taste great and were a life saver for me. The vanilla bean is the best in my opinion. The chocolate was not to bad and strawberry crème would be my 3rd choice. You can get singles there at the store and try the flavors before you go and buy a bunch of a flavor just to find out you don't like it. They have 25g of protein, 2g sugar and 6g fat.

    Food Scale on sale

LOL...ok you beat me. That is pretty cool though.
  4. I just wanted to pass on something I found today. My wife and I decided we wanted to use a food scale to accurately measure out and plan our meals. We went to Bed Bath and Beyond to find one and they have a decent one on sale. It is the "Biggest Looser" TV show food scale and it is on clearance for $14.99. We even used a 20% off coupon my wife had and got a little more off. So, if you have thought about getting one yourself, now is a good time to get a decent one without spending a ton of money. Here is a link to the website to check it out. Enjoy. http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/store/product/The-Biggest-Loser-reg-Digital-Kitchen-Scale/1015947047?Keyword=food+scale

    August 19th

Hello to all my 8/19 mates! I hope everyone is progressing nice with your recovery. I have to admit, for me, the first 24 hours after surgery was the worst. LOTS of gas pains. I still get them occasionally but not as much. I have been walking and have not had any issues keeping down my liquids and proteins...you just have to sip slowly! I even went shopping with the wife yesterday for about an hour. I followed her slowly holding on to my own shopping cart. I started to use the handicap scooter but decided it was a great time for some exercise walking. So far so good and down 7 pounds since surgery day. Everyone keep on the liquids and the walking!!!

    August 2013 Roll Call

Hey everyone, I am glad to hear everyone is doing good. 8/19 was a great day for me. So now 3 days post op, drinking my 8oz shakes (3 a day) and my 6 8oz glasses of water a day. So far no issues, no nausea, no vomiting. The first 24 hours was pretty tough but after that it has been a breeze. Lot's of gas, but doing a lot of walking is helping that. Even went to the store with my wife this morning and walked around holding onto my own cart while she shopped. Felt good but definitely tires you out. I hope everyone else from 8/19 is feeling as great as I am. I have even already been taken off of my metphormin diabetes meds. I just have to monitor my sugar 3 times a day to make sure my levels stay good. Stay strong everyone, get your liquids down and walk...even if just down the driveway and back a few times...walk often.

    August 2013 Roll Call

Well, had my surgery on the 19th. Not much pain at all except for gas. I could inflate a blimp right now...lol I had to stay 2 nights and got home this morning. I slept great last night, about 10 hours. So far so good on getting water and shakes down. How are all my other 8/19 mates doing? Great I hope.

    August 2013 Roll Call

Well, tomorrow is the big day and I get to be the first patient of the day for my Dr. I have to be at the hospital at 5:30am. I am so ready to start this new chapter of life. Yes there has been nerves and second guessing but in the end, I know I am making the right choice. I have lost around 23 pounds during my pre op diet and I am slowly starting to feel a difference already. All my chores are done, yard is mowed and I have made arrangements for someone to mow for me next week. Now it is time to sit back, relax, enjoy some lime Jello, chicken broth and water (I am on clear liquids only today), and get ready. Good luck to all my August 19th surgery mates! I hope and pray that we all have flawless procedures followed by minimal pain and discomfort! Speedy recovery to everyone. Now bring it on!!!

    The Incedible Shrinking Biker!

Thanks for the great read on your adventure and progress. I am due to be sleeved on Monday the 19th so I am getting excited, nervous and everything else that goes with it. I love all of the comments and such from the lovely ladies here on the site, but it is nice to see a guys story occasionally. Something I might be able to relate to a little better I guess. I like the goals you set and marked off. I may have to steal that myself. Thanks for the updates and great job so far. Keep the updates coming.

    August 2013 Roll Call

I had my pre op yesterday. Passed all tests and all cleared for Monday's surgery. I am down 16 pounds so far in a week and a half. It is getting closer for sure! I am past the nerves and second guessing...it is time to make a change and take control! And 1gorgeousgodzilla, it could be worse...we could be Bama or Florida fans...lol GEAUX TIGERS!!
  11. I am 1 week into my pre op diet and I have to admit, it has been tough. I also admit I had a couple of slices of smoked turkey lunchmeat (a protein) and a couple scrambled eggs. Hopefully that will be the end. So, my question is, who else cheated and did it cause any issues for your surgery?

    August 2013 Roll Call

WOO HOO!!! 1 week from tomorrow for me!! I am down 10 pounds so far from my shakes. How are all my August 19th surgery mates doing on their pre op diets so far?
  13. Well, today is day 3 of my preop diet. So far I am down 7 pounds...all liquid, but hey, 7 pounds is 7 pounds. The shakes flavor have alot to be desired but I am making the best of it and adding some fruits here and there to make them a little better. I ordered some of the Unjury Chicken soup...that should be here tomorrow. Sure hope it is as good as everyone says. I can defiantely feel the effects of not eating near what I used to...a little weak. But keeping my shakes going with an ocassional sugar free Jello and plenty of water. I got this...bring it on!
  14. What brand are you using? I have been using the Bariatric Advantage brand chocolate and vanilla powders at home and the GNC ready to drink vanilla at work. GNC RTD is great...the powders need some work to make them any good.
  15. Well, everything is starting to feel real, all the tests done, meetings done and tomorrow I start my 2 week preop diet. I actually started drinking some shakes last week for breakfast each morning. Tomorrow though, it starts for real and I couldn't be more excited about it! 2 weeks from today I will have my surgery and can't wait! I am definately looking forward to my new life and all it has to offer! Then, 3 weeks after mine, my wife will be having hers. That makes it even better!!
  16. Well, I am headed out for my Endoscope appointment! Then, my wife has hers done this afternoon. Things are just falling into place and that is great. We are both extremely excited about this new journey together. Hard to believe I am 1 month and 11 days away from surgery!
  17. It was a piece of cake for both of us. It really sank in that this was the first major step in our journey. We have had the meetings, the appointments and all, but this was the first real step towards our procedure. It's a great feeling.

    Got my date

    Congrats!!! August 19th here!

    Leanshake from GNC

I purchased some of them yesterday to have as shakes quick and easy at work rather than the powders which I will use at home. The vanilla bean was good..my wife liked the strawberry and crème but I didn't care for it. Our Dr. really pushes the Bariatric Advantage brand, (sure he gets a kick back) but I haven't decided which one yet.
  20. I love this. My surgery is August 19th and I will be following these guidelines for sure. Thanks for sharing.

I am one of THOSE people!

Lower food cost is definately a plus. I have already started adjusting my grocery buying habits and I am still about 7 weeks out from my sleeve.
  24. Give them a call...get the ball rolling. Just don't give up.
