Great job! Looking great! -
Ok...I did about a mile today test riding bikes and 2 miles on my recumbent bike tonight so that's 3 miles today which puts me at 16.5 for the week. I will be mowing tomorrow so lets see what I get with that on Map My Walk.
-
I won't hold that against you...lol Arkansas is my 2nd favorite I guess. I have family in Texarkana.
-
I took it kinda easy today. Went and ran some errands and visited my brother-in-law in the hospital. Nothing serious, he is all good now. I may jump on the bike later while watching the LSU game. I also went and test rode some bikes today, man they have gotten pricey! I have settled on a Trek Marlin 29er. I test rode 3 bikes for about 1 mile total so I will claim 1 mile towards the challenge...lol I have a question, I use a push mower to mow my yard. Can I count the step distance I gain mowing towards the challenge? If not it is ok, I just wanted to verify. Thanks and happy exercising everyone!

Looking great! Great job! -
Well, been a weird day today but I was able to get a recumbent bike ride for 2.6 miles in this morning before work. I also got a 1.2 mile treadmill walk in after work. That's 3.8 miles today and a total so far of 13.5 miles. All I can say is...I can't wait for cooler weather so I can walk more outside.
-
LOL...I was wondering the same thing. Looks like he is taking care of business.

I am also on my 2nd day of soft foods. I can eat about 2 medium scrambled eggs with a little salsa on them and just start feeling full about my last bite or so. Everyone is different and it depends on how big their Dr made their pouch. I was told to expect anywhere between 4 to 8 ounces. The key is exactly what you did, when you start feeling full...STOP! I pushed it a little to much last night and hated it. I felt extremely full. I never threw up like some people say they do but once or twice I wanted to to relieve the pressure. I went for a short walk and that helped...2 hours later I hit the exercise bike for a couple miles to see how I would feel and felt fine. I now know for sure what being that full feels like and will definately not push it again. When I first feel full...I will stop for sure.

Thanks. I am definitely motivated by everyone here. As we all know, we didn't have this surgery and change our lifestyles just to go back to being a couch potato. I enjoy seeing everyones miles posted. As a matter of fact yesterday when I posted my total for the month of 9.7 miles so far, I was like really? 3/10's of a mile? That's all I need for double digits? I almost went back out to the garage for another small ride...lol If I can motivate, I am happy to but everyone her definitely motivates me. As a matter of fact...time to go ride before I shower for work. Have a great day everyone!

Wow...been a long day today but I managed to work in a 1 mile walk at work in the warehouse at lunch and just rode 2.15 miles on the recumbent bike in the garage. That is 3.15 miles today which puts me at 9.7 miles so far this week and the challenge. I am gonna step it up tomorrow, I have decided to start riding a couple miles each morning before work, walk my laps at work at lunch and then either walk or ride in the evening. It was almost 100 degrees today, I can't wait for cooler temps so I can enjoy walking the track or around the blocks again.
-
Just rode the recumbent bike 3.11 miles in 13 minutes averaging 14mph. That puts my total at 6.6 miles. I should break double digits tomorrow. My lower incisions started aching a little after staple removal today but feeling GREAT!!

Staples are out and Iam officially on pureed foods now and approved for walking and riding all I want. Basically if it hurts, don't do it...lol I will be going for a nice walk tonight for sure. Time to play so catch up!

Pre-op diet and diabetes
lsu2868 replied to Baristaboy75's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was on a 2 week pre op diet of shakes and clear liquids, all sugar free. My numbers slowly started coming down to the point I did crash down to 55 3 days before surgery. At that point I was taken off one of my diabetes meds. I had my surgery on the 19th and went home on the 21st of August. My numbers were running between 90 and 120 almost immeditely. My Dr. took me off my other diabetes meds and I just have to monitor my numbers to make sure my body is still adjusting correctly. So far so good, numbers have been between 89 and 95 this week. Just watch your numbers and call you Dr if they start getting to low. -
I am only 2 weeks post op so I am still walking and building up my strength but I have given myself a start date of Sept 30th to start the C25K. I can't wait. Good luck on your training and stay strong...you got this.

Thanks Laura and tparker, I started walking around the corner and back the day I got home from surgery after 2 days in the hospital. 3 days after surgery I got bored and went to the garage and set up the treadmill (which my wife was not happy about because of my no lifting restriction...oops!!). I started walking in 5 minute intervals at about 2 mph roughly. I would do about 3 or 4 5 minute intervals a day to start. I then moved them to 10 minutes. I also started walking around the warehouse at work the day I went back. The staples have never really been an issue, it has been more about getting tired so easy and fast. I just go til tired and stop but I plan on trying to push myself a little more each day. This morning I did 5 minutes on the treadmill for about .32 miles and then tried the recumbent bike for the 1st time since surgery and did 1.5 miles with no problems. So I did 1.8 miles so far today which if I am not mistaken puts me around 5 miles total. I have along way to go but will get there. Now time to go get these staples out and have a scrambled egg...lol Have a great day everyone.

I have a quick question for those of you who have Blue Cross Blue Shield. My sister and brother-in-law are both seriously considering being sleeved. She called their insurance today, BCBS and was told that they don't cover weight loss surgery. My thought is what if their Dr. prescribed or recommended the surgery? Has anyone else who has BCBS encountered this issue and if so, what steps were taken to finally get approved? Thanks in advance for the help.

Great job! What was your before and now weights and how far post op are you if you don't mind me asking? Keep up the great work.

Well, doesn't look like I am gonna get to much walking in today. I have had the headache from hell all day. I didn't walk the warehouse at lunch as planned. I plan on jumping on the treadmill for a little while tonight but also plan on crashing early. That just means more to do tomorrow but never giving up! Great job everone on your numbers the last few days. Very impressive. I can't wait to get back to full strength so I can get my numbers up there. Best news is, I get my staples removed tomorrow and move to the pureed stage...real food! I am so tired if sweet shakes. I will still have 3 or 4 small shakes to get my protein but so glad to also have real food again. Remember, drink drink drink your liquids!

Threw in a 4/10 mile walk on the treadmill this morning before breakfast. Today is the day I add one more lap to my daily walk around the warehouse. And of course I will be walking this evening after work. Have a great day everyone!

Just walked another .83 miles in 16.83 minutes. Still small but a start. I just have to keep adding to it every day.
-
Gee...I wonder why...lol Hope you feel better soon. Hard falls do suck.

I downloaded the "Map my Walk" app on my phone. My wife and I went and walked at a track not to far from the house. We walked .78 miles. I know that doesn't put a dent in the 100 miles, but it's a start. I felt good and wasn't as tired afterwards. How do I go about sharing or is this the honor system...lol?
