  1. Surgery date: September 25, 2013 Day of surgery: 263 Current weight: 161 Down 102 lbs!!!! I am now wearing a size medium top and size 8 pants!
  2. I did okay as far as sticking to the diet for 10 days, which also included 4 days of Clear liquids. My diet didn't include salad, but did have the 3 protein shakes per day along with sugar free jello and plain Greek yogurt. I didn't really lose any weight, however, which baffled me. Dr. Cabrera told me that he could tell I followed the pre op diet very well as my liver was shrunk up nicely. Following the diet for two weeks, I'm sure you will lose what you need to. Remember if you get too hungry, you can add some lean protein to the salad. Good luck to you; you can do it!!!
  3. It was a good experience overall, both times I've been. There is a nurse on the 3rd floor who is great! She has had the surgery, herself, and she loves to talk about it and give recommendations on Protein, various recipes, etc. Be prepared to see Dr. Cabrera very little. You will be seen by a doctor daily, however. Walk lots! You will meet others out in the hall walking and it actually makes it kinda fun... something to look forward to. Do you have any specific questions? I had surgery in September with Cabrera, my sister had it in January with him, and we are both doing GREAT! Neither of us have any problems or complications.

    Anyone still on here?

I got it at the Vitamin Shoppe. They have the regular protein bars, plus the choklat bars in milk and dark chocolate. So good!

    Anyone still on here?

I had my surgery on September 25, 2013. Starting weight: 263 Current weight: 179 Total loss: 84 lbs. I've been in a stall for about a month. While the scale isn't moving, I seem to be losing inches. A shirt I bought at the beginning of last month is now too big for me!!! I've been so frustrated not losing weight, so I've stopped weighing as frequently so that I don't obsess over it. I'm eating between 500-850 calories per day and keeping carbs at 30 grams or less per day. Hopefully that scale will start moving down again soon! ETA: When you're craving chocolate, Power Crunch has a chocolate bar called "Choklat" that is delicious! It's like eating a Crunch candy bar. One bar is two servings. It's 100 calories per serving, 8g carbs, and 5g Protein. It is so good!

    Thyroid issues

I've had hypothyroidism since I was 8 years old... 32 years, now. I take 200 mcg of Synthroid. Losing weight has always been a huge struggle for me. The day I had surgery, 09/25/2013, I weighed 263 lbs. Now, I weigh 179 lbs. - 84 lbs. lost so far! My weight loss has not been hindered by my thyroid problem at all. I eat low carb, track everything I eat, and the weight has come off at a fairly rapid pace. It has slowed down some now, but that's to be expected. I'm very content with my sleeve!
  9. Not every room has two beds. Some rooms have one bed and a recliner. The room I was in had two beds, however. When I went back with my sister, they had initially put us in a room with only one bed until we requested to be moved to another room, on a different floor (3rd floor instead of 4th).
  10. I paid $4,500 for my surgery in Tijuana, plus an additional $500 for airfare for myself and my support person. We drank lots of water in Mexico... bottled water.
  11. I'm 5'2". I was sleeved on September 25, 2013. Weight day of surgery: 263 lbs. Current weight: 181 lbs. Total lost: 82 lbs.
  12. I fail a lot at getting in my Protein. I do not drink protein shakes, as they make me nauseous and I don't like them, so getting 60+ grams of protein a day in can be a struggle. My diet mainly consists of eggs, cottage cheese, Peanut Butter, shredded cheese or a slice of cheese, light laughing cow cheese, and meat of some sort (pork, beef, chicken, turkey neck, lobster, and shrimp). I know turkey necks sound disgusting, but they are high in protein so I eat them occasionally. lol. Skim milk is a good way to add protein, as well. I found "Hood chocolate Milk" at Kroger, which is low in calories and fat, and low carb. It tastes okay. Beef Jerky is also a good way to get in more protein. Just watch the carbs in it, because sometimes it has sugar in it.
  13. Sleeved 09/25/2013 SW: 263 CW: 187 -76 lbs. I've gone from a size 20-22 to a size 12 in jeans, and from a 2X to a size L in shirts. The scale has not moved in about three weeks. I am so discouraged right now.
  14. Are you tracking what you eat? If not, maybe start tracking so that you can see the numbers and see where you might need to make some adjustments. What about carbohydrates, are your keeping them on the low side? Usually when the scale isn't moving, the inches are coming off. You could just be a slow loser. Hang in there. The scale will start moving again soon!

    Plane after Mexico

I was given compression stockings at Mi Doctor while there, but I also took my own that I wore home. If you don't get up and move around while on the flight back home, do make sure you move your feet and legs around in circles or in a shuffling motion. Also. I'm pretty sure most surgeons give a blood thinner (Lovenox) during surgery.
