If you had 2 surgeries.. What was harder?

I had a much harder time with band removal than with my sleeve!

    Tight sleeve in the morning?

I had it really bad with my lapband. That was the big difference I noticed between the 2 procedures... Well that and not puking constantly... I am 6 wks out and noticed that I am having that feeling again of morning tightness... But not as bad. It has just been the last two mornings!

    Stupid Question?

That's so funny!!! I felt the same way about where my dr wrote "sleeve" and signed his name on my belly.... Big and blue!!! It would fade but was still there for nearly 2 weeks!

    Vsg In Minneapolis Area?

    I couldn't find it either!
  8. They said the reason for no polish is that they check your nail beds for oxygen saturation (I think)!!! I have had several heart surgeries and they were always looking at my toes. In my pre-op class the nurse said to at least take it off of the big toes!

    Pain related to Surgery

An abdominal binder helps so much! They put in on me before I woke up. Ask for one at the hospital or order one. It really helps with walking and bumpy roads on the way home!!!

    First 24-48 Hours...

I was prepared to be in a lot if pain. I had my lapband removed a few years ago and the pain was intense.... I was surprised that the pain was not near as bad!!! I was sleeved on May 6th. The first 24 hours are rough, but for me I think that was mostly the anesthesia. That and the morphine help to blur out those hours. I did not have a pain pump but they kept up with it. They stopped it within 24 hours and I started on liquid pain relief. Walk as much as you can. I did not suffer from a lot of the gas pains until about 3 days after surgery. Those pains lasted only a few seconds each time, which made them more tolerable. My issue has been trying to get in liquids and proteins and being so tired all of the time. I have no regrets. The sleeve is just a tool. And with any tool you have to learn how to use it. It's a huge commitment and adjustment, but I have no doubts that this tool will help me be successful. Best wishes to you!!! Oh, and find out if they give you an abdominal binder. If not, get one beforehand. It helps so much with getting up and moving around!!!

    my sleeve 2morrow

In the pre-op room when they gave me my gown to change into, he asked if I was on my period. They give you an adult diaper if you are... So no worries!!
