Food thinking...All in my head....
Healthiernewme replied to fccm04's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm a little over a year out and I eat all of my favorite foods, just in moderation. Bad feelings usually only come if I go overboard, or if I drink too soon after eating. -
Almost 2 years - how is everyone doing?
Healthiernewme replied to jeepermom's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Sounds like you know what you have to do:) Journaling is key. I'm about 14 months out, and have wrote everything I've ate since, even when I go overboard. Sometimes I will log in what I'm going to eat before I eat it. Makes me think about it a little more. Good luck to you:) -
May sleevers results so far!
Healthiernewme replied to lexi6510's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It's been about 7 months since surgery. I'm about 11 lbs. from goal, which I might revise after reaching. Even though my weight loss may be slow compared to others, I only had 70 lbs. to lose. No sagging skin thus far, which is a big bonus for me. The sleeve is definitely working:) -
My Top Ten List for my first 7 days sleeved

You are hilarious:) Love it. -
Like everyone said it really depends on your genetic make up, age, and how long you've had the extra weight. I'm 38 and so far with almost 50 lbs gone have no extra skin. I still have about 30 more lbs to go, but so far so good. I'm also a slow loser so maybe that's helped me out too. Good luck to you:)

help I need solutions to solving my chocolate cravings
Healthiernewme replied to joanne2013's topic in Food and Nutrition
I like Wondercocoa. It's just pure cocoa and it's actually good for you. I use it to make hot cocoa with water (or skim milk) and stevia. It curbs my chocolate cravings. -
I would try warm liquids, like tea, etc.

Dr. Alavrez patients...
Healthiernewme replied to devine.adon's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I hope you're doing better:) I'm so sorry things didn't go more smoothly. Please update us on how you are doing. -
Well, first of all, I can't believe it's been 4 months already. I'm really loving my sleeve. I'm down -41 lbs. since pre-op diet. Went from size 16 to very loose size 12 pants. Have already cleaned out my closet once, but soon I'll have to get rid of the 12's too. So happy about that. Also, went from XL shirts to M. Lessons learned ... I don't have a great metabolism. I have to exercise (and do so about 3 times a week) and watch my carbs to lose weight, and even then it's pretty slow progress. As soon as I just watch calories, I don't lose. I don't gain either, which I'll keep in mind for maintenance phase. I can eat just about anything, so I really have to chose to eat the right things. Only things that give me a little trouble if I eat too fast and don't chew enough are: salmon, thick cuts of beef, dense bread. I don't eat bread anymore, but I did try it once or twice. I also have to space out my supplements. If I take too many at a time, I get the slimees. I have about 29 lbs. to go for my initial goal of 140. I will reevaluate how I feel/look at that time, and may lower my weight goal... who knows. I would highly recommend that all new sleeves look at this surgery as an opportunity to start over and live a healthy lifestyle. If we were to keep our old ways, the results might not be as permanent as you think. Sure, you will lose a whole bunch at first because you just can't consume as much as before... but, even amount of food you can consume will change. It's those permanent (and healthy) changes that will help us get to goal and stay there. I don't know.. just my thoughts. Not lecturing or anything... really just self-reflecting. I really don't want to ever be in the morbidly obese or obese range again. I already feel so much better physically and mentally, and still have a ways to go.

It's horrible
Healthiernewme replied to DanielleSleeve's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This was a tricky one. I tried to always sip on some coffee or tea while cooking to help the temptations. It was still very hard, but the warm liquids helped me feel better about it. -

Welcome missvickie:) Good luck to you on your upcoming surgery! -
I think I may literally be starving...
Healthiernewme replied to marfar7's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was hungry on soft foods as well. I didn't really start to feel full until I started solid proteins. Maybe split your soft foods so you're eating every 2 hours -- seems like you'll be always eating, but perhaps this will help with your hunger?? -

Wow... what an awesome success story... congrats:) -
Drink all of your water. It helps, if your an in ketosis.

So, this morning I grabbed an almond croissant with the full intention of eating half of it. (TMI: I am seriously PMSing and was craving stuff (not to mention I was also really hungry).) I went back to my desk and stared at the delicious pastry; then, I proceeded to wrap it in a napkin, squish it, then throw it in the trash. Yay for me!

What a supportive spouse:) Love it! Your support will help her in so many ways.

16 days out, so dang hungry today. Normal, right?
Healthiernewme replied to gamergirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are you kidding me, I was counting the minutes until I could have "real" food. I think it was eggs -- which didn't feel great, but I tried ... And tried again:) -
Interesting find ... what stage are you on?

Can you see any difference?
Healthiernewme replied to Sleevin'It's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Wonderful progress!! Very big difference! -
Can you keep down creamy soups? I would insist your doctor run some tests to find out why you can't keep soft foods down.

How important is it to eat
Healthiernewme replied to angry's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You're post op Day 3... I would concentrate on your liquids, then protein at this point. You will slowly work your way up to the protein requirements.
