Feeling Physically drained everyday
Healthiernewme replied to roundy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It definitely gets a lot better, but make sure you are taking a good liquid multi-vitamin. Your body needs all the help it can get to recover. Also, tons of plain water in addition to your protein. Sipping all day should now be your full time job:) -
Funny Restaurant Experience
Healthiernewme replied to jandseakin's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I just came back from a cruise and this happened at every sit down meal. I kept telling the waiter that all I did was eat so I was never hungry. But, I did have to keep reassuring him that the food was great:) -
Yes. Pork is also hard for me. I would try again in a couple of weeks. I do fine with lean beef.

Horrified by my near-nekkid pictures
Healthiernewme replied to gamergirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I never recognize myself in pictures. Like in my head, I really don't look like that. This is why I rarely take any pics. It dampens my mood... I'd rather think I look cute... lol:) -
Congrats:) Take it really easy for the next couple of days and remember to just keep sipping and walking.

Simply amazing!! Congrats:) -
Thanks, Fiddleman. That information would be very useful. I just really can't see how we can get the potassium in, given that we eat a reduced amount of food now.
-
I know Salmon and Spinach are high in potassium. Also, bananas, avocados, white mushrooms, yogurt and dried apricots have good amounts.

SerendipityHappens: Please tell us how you manage 3,000 mg a day... Even when I drink the coconut Water, I still come under 2,000. Ugh:(

Stage 2 diet, What do you order at a Restaurant?

I stuck to soups when I went out (and took out all the chunky stuff). You can have more stuff later on. -
Awesome!!

stall and weight gain?!
Healthiernewme replied to Onesassychick79's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ditto to what other people already said. Just keep up with the protein and water as best as you can, your weight loss will pick up when you're body is ready. Don't get frustrated, it will happen. -
Yes, yes and yes. I would keep an eye on your iron levels until your cycle evens out. Remember we have all these crazy hormones floating around, so until we lose our weight and keep at a consistent weight for a while, it will be a little crazy for a couple of months. Also, surgery is really hard on our bodies. Hang in there:)

Great progress! You even look younger:)

Three and a half years later
Healthiernewme replied to Keys Pirate's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Thanks for coming back and posting:) It is very informative to hear from someone who is 3+ years out. -
If we are supposed to get approx. 4000 mg of potassium a day, I can't understand how it is possible to get it from food/drink given how little we eat. Does anyone keep track of how much they get a day?

Ok... so I was cleaning out my files and found some of the ridiculous diets I've done in the past. For fun, let's list all the fad diets we've tried in past (of which some did work, but we gained all the weight back as soon as we were off of it). Wow, can't believe I actually thought some of these were good ideas:) These don't even count the popular ones like HCG, Atkins, South Beach, etc. Here goes: Grapefruit diet Miracle Soup diet (i.e. cabbage soup diet) Sacret Heart Hospital Diet for Overweight Heart Patients (summary: 7 day diet in which you ate specific foods - Day 1 - all fruits, except bananas; Day 2 - all veggies, no starches; Day 3 - eat day 1 and day 2 foods; Day 4 - eat up to 8 bananas and 8 glasses of skim milk, you can have the cabbage soup; Days 5-6 - beef and veggies; Day 7 - brown rice, unsweetened fruit juice and veggies. Cleveland Clinic Diet (summary: 3 day diet that must be followed exactly - works on chemical breakdown)

That's some crazy weightloss!! Congrats:)

HUNGRY A LOT OF THE TIME?
Healthiernewme replied to TracyAnn15's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I still feel hunger as well, but nothing like pre-op. If I eat denser proteins, I stay fuller for longer. -
1 month out and I feel like I have no sleeve
Healthiernewme replied to richj242's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
If you stick to denser proteins, you will feel more restriction.
