  1. Of course this happens on Sunday! I started having trouble on Thursday with not doing well with anything I had to chew so I scaled back to pureed, and kept at that on Friday and by Saturday night I decided to try a piece of grilled chicken. I had four or five tiny bites and threw it all up and it was this really gross thick, yellow sludge. I woke up today and felt alright, had my protien shake and halfway through church started shaking and sweating and kept getting lightheaded and dizzy. I can't eat anything (shakes are still ok) and all of a sudden now one of my incisions hurts like crazy (off pain meds for four days) and my left chest and jaw hurt. I know those are heart attack signs but I don't feel that crappy, just worse and worse. Hubby wants to go to ER and I want to go to bed. Thoughts?

    Emergency Room Visit?

Thanks for all the support guys! I just got home and after lots of IV fluid and few trips to radiology I feel a whole lot better. I will be fine, but the doctors LOVE to give you IV pain meds and then try to talk to you. Zero chance that I remember much more than 'scans look ok' and something about the phrenic nerve and the diaphragm and referred pain.
  3. Hi guys! I had my surgery on April 10th and have been doing pretty well. Today I drank my 11 ounce protien drink on my 45 minute drive to work and then a few hours later had a 6 ounce yogurt. Is this too much at a sitting? Am I stretching my sleeve out? I feel like I shouldn't be able to tolerate that much, but I can and I have zero symptoms from it. I can't tolerate near that quantity of solid food, I had a tiny piece of fish for dinner and had maybe four or five small bites before I felt done. Thoughts? Thanks!
  4. You should see a change by post op day four or five. It helped me to take a drink, hold it in my mouth and take tiny little sips once it was warmer. Wierd, yeah, but it helped. Good luck! And yeah, the liquid painkillers are gross. I gagged and choked and tried not to puke it up. Every time. Ick!

    Sleeved on 4/23/13

This is temporary, I promise! I had my surgery on the 10th and the first week was ROUGH but I feel a whole lot better now. I actually coded in the hospital, and I was back to work (I'm a nurse) the Tuesday after surgery. I know you don't feel like it now, but PLEASE make sure you keep up your protien. If you don't get your 60 grams, you'll feel like a truck hit you, backed over you and hit again for good measure, I felt so crappy right when I got home I didn't hardly eat anything and I could hardly get off the couch to go to the bathroom and laid on the couch and cried for three days. The fatigue was debilitating. I called a friend who had this ten years ago and she said I needed protien, and she was absolutely right. Also, set your clock for every four hours for your painkillers-DO NOT WAIT or the pain will get out of control and very difficult to control. Keep your head up, it does get easier every day. And weigh yourself-it'll remind and encourage you!
