I am a mother to four kids, ages 10, 8, 3 and 2. The older ones, not much of a problem; the younger ones, exactly what you describe! To get a quality workout in, I have to work out when they are sleeping. My kids bed time is 8:30, so I'll end up working out at about 9 or 9:30. Morning workouts are at about 4:30/5:00 AM on work days, or 7 AM on weekends ( they wake up early!). Other ways are just being active with them: putting on music and dancing with them (I try to "jump" dance, burns more calories), chase them around the yard, play games that require some light jogging, jump on the trampoline. Teach them to be active with you for a healthier active family.

NutriPure? Too many calories? Carbs?
NewSetOfCurves posted a topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
When looking through Prosource.com's site, it rated NutiPure as its top rated MRP. This Protein shake is 290 calories and it has: 16 grams of carbs 43 grams protein 100% DV of Vitamins A, C, E 80% DV Calcium 50% DV of Folic Acid, Biotin, Thiamin, and many, many more. I used to drink this during my fitness days (10 yeas ago), and I liked the flavor when blended with frozen fresh fruits; however, I don't know if this has too many calories for the full liquid diet phase, or too many carbs, or too many sugars (4 grams--60 cals). Any suggestions or ideas? -

I am hoping to be a June sleever. I find out on the 9th. Congrats on getting your date! -
I was just looking into this topic. I was thinking about finding a good liquid vitamin that I could add to my shakes or smoothies. I'm curious to see what people post.

NewSetOfCurves posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Great website for bariatric patients! They sell food, drinks, and vitamins that are specific for bariactric needs. I loved one of the vitamin supplements that was specific for hair loss and nail thinning. Anyway, thought I would share! http://www.bariatriceating.com/ -

Benefits of increased Protein intake
NewSetOfCurves replied to Newme48's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Have you thought of buying one of those tasteless protein powders and adding it to other liquids you drink, or foods (that are initially liquid based) before they're cooked? -
WOW!!!! You look AAAAMAZING!!!! Congrats to you! Thank you! I wish you the very best on your new venture!!!

Congrats on committing to this new goal! I think that is amazing! I'm about your height, do you happen to mind sharing a before and after photo? I haven't been sleeved yet and I have been trying to find sleevers with similar beginning stats to mine. Your beginning stats are very close to mine. Are you small or medium framed? Anyway, I understand if you're reserved about posting pics, but if you can I would really appreciate it...thanks!

Congrats! That's a great time, especially for your first time!!! I did my first 5K in December, the Dirty Girl Mud Run. This past spring I participated in the Graffiti Run, JailBreak, and Foam Run. So much fun and it's such a rewarding feeling

Products Specific 4 Bariatric Patients--Website
NewSetOfCurves replied to NewSetOfCurves's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Of course it's marketing;however, I liked that they also provide articles, recipes, meal plans, support, and other misc. items that deal with things specific to bariatric patients. One article talked about clear liquids and what they recommended (and their recommendations had nothing o do with their products). They had a page for each phase post surgery. It's a neat site, especially for those new to the sleeve. It's just a suggestion. The creator underwent surgery herself. -
Up calories to loose weight?
NewSetOfCurves replied to laughingheels's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
LipstickLady is right. When your body goes into starvation mode, it slows down your metabolism (the mechanism that burns calories in our bodies) in order to conserve more energy and "survive." When you consume more calories that is appropriate to your weight and expenditure of energy, your body begins to burn the appropriate amount of calories vs. conserving them. So in order to lose weight, your doctor wants you to get your body out of that starvation mode. -
Too funny!!!

I am starting to prepare for surgery and I am wanting to prepare my body for the liquid diet. Can any of you post surgery sleevers give me some of your best suggestions, other than broth and protien shakes? Are fruit smoothies an option? Maybe frozen into pops? PLEASE give me some tips!

Feeling awkward when people ask how much weight I lost
NewSetOfCurves replied to alisonsim's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I gained the same amount of weight after my first child and I did not leave my house for a year, because people would literally gasp when they saw me, asking, "Is that you? What happened?" It was very depressing. It took me a few years to feel comfortable in my skin again, and several more before I gained confidence and felt beautiful again. Some people are just crass and have no idea--or don't give a crap--about boundaries. -

I'm gonna start singing because this fat lady (me), is OVER it!
NewSetOfCurves commented on Flutterby's blog entry in Flutterby's Blog
Flutterby, I want you to know that the first time I spied your profile, I thought, "What a beautiful woman." You are very beautiful, and based on other posts and entries you are of seemingly really good character. Part of this journey is having the confidence in yourself and believing in how beautiful you are. Big women are beautiful too. You don't have to be thin to be beautiful. I used to be skinny and felt disgusting about myself. I have more confidence in myself as a size 20 woman, than I did as a size 4 misses. My students always compliment me on how they love how sure of myself I am; how I dress; my hair. Big girls can and ARE fabulous. I think my ability to LOVE myself, to believe that I am beautiful and fabulous...no matter what... made me realize that I was ready to take this step; ready to be a healthy, fabulous me. LOVE who you are now, because the woman you are now is beautiful; you don't have to be 150ish to share part of that beauty that is inside and all around you. -
Feeling awkward when people ask how much weight I lost
NewSetOfCurves replied to alisonsim's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I agree with Andi. With a pleasant smile, vaguely say, "I have lost numerous pounds and I am feeling great. Thank you." If they continue to pester you with the number question, say, "I appreciate your interest in my well being, but I would rather keep that private. Thank you, though, for noticing." Continue your pleasant smile and tone, then walk away with a wave goodbye. lol -

Weight Lifting at Night Yields Maximum Muscle Building Power
NewSetOfCurves replied to NewSetOfCurves's topic in Fitness & Exercise
As long as your "evening activities" are post weight session, your muscles should be fine. Of course the duration of these activities might lead to some muscle exhaustion; some might find that they are not able to perform to their maximum potential, but they should be fine--nevertheless. Lol! Don't forget to load up on calories...you'll need all the extra energy you can get! -
below BMI of 35 @ time of surgery
NewSetOfCurves replied to LillianneMcBeth's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I started off right at the 40 BMI, and asked that question. I was concerned that with the pre-op diet I would fall under. My doctor stated that they go with the initial weigh-in when you started the process. I am now at a 36.2 BMI. My surgery is not for another 6 weeks, but he says I will be fine. -
