Snowbird is right in her thinking. I would add a few thoughts: Are you drinking enough water? If you eat too few calories your body will be thinking you are in starvation mode and hold on too as much weight as possible. Make sure you get approximately 60 grms of protein a da. (some others have other ideas as to the amount of protein) 60 works for me. ALso, change your exercise routine and try something different. Above all, keep a positive attitude. Are you eating no more than 30 carbs a day? Good luck and keep on working out and eating healthy.

I think there are some areas where the differences between men and woman will always be there. This is one of them. I am digusted with the men this years also. They are so cocky! The women work as hard if not harder, they just don't have the muscile capacity of men nor cam they lost the % as men do. It wuold be nice to run a men and women competitin at the same time. Have a grat day

I live in Jacksonville and I know my physician does lap band at an outpatient clinic here and is considerably less. Why don't you try him. It would save you the cost of an air plane and also he is here if she gets in any trouble. His name is Dr. Cywes. Go to Home for more info. Good luck Sharon

Please share your tips for battling head hunger.
leedorr replied to bandster_1007's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have been banded over a year and I fight head hunger constantly. I call it emotional eating. I find that once I eat soemthing not "legal" it sets me on a binge. I have found that if I go back to 1 or 2 days of full liquids with my protein drinks as my staple and clean out the bad carbs, I can get myself back under control. Hope this helps. -
I am checking in. I have about 30 more to go and am having a hard time right now.. In am working at trying to eat without losing it. It's not the band....it's my head! Boy this is a hard journey but a good one. Take care

How is weight loss for people over 50?
leedorr replied to debi717's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
thanks for the suggestion I will see the Dr soon and ask him . PD -
Well, as far as insurance, contact them and they will tell you if they cover bariactric surgery or not. Then let your Dr offices submit the request if they do. Also, As far as sleep apnes, high blood pressure reflux and hiatal hernia that will be taken care of as youm loss weight. My Dr. told me he had to fix the hernia before he could place the band. Good luck It is difinetely worth it!

How is weight loss for people over 50?
leedorr replied to debi717's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Ok Here I am. I have lost 100 pounds, have had foot surgry that got infected, had to have fluid taken out of my band, have had one refill, but can't seem to get back on track. I am really disgusted with myself. I want to continue as I still have about 40 pounds to lose. Has anyone else fallen off the wagon so to speak? What did it take to get back on? This is drving me to despair! Help! -
Here is the truth about the band
leedorr replied to alysedg23's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Donna I am so sorry for your loss. My dad died in 1984 and I still miss him. Anyway, I do understand what you are going through. I had surgry on my foot a month ago. I got a really bad infection, couldn't even swallow water without pain. My Doc took some fluid out and them 4 weeks later he put some back, so now I am back on the rooad. It is not easy and I am having trouble getting back with good eting habits and my exercise routine. For me, stress does affect how much I can eat and what I can eat without pbing. Take it easy and grieve your loss but know that carbs like candy and cakes etc are not your friends. If you do any exercise begin with walking instead of eating. You are doing great! keep up the good work! -
OPINIONS PLEASE: On weight loss competitions
leedorr replied to mypov's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Personally, I think you ought to go for it. You and I know that you can gain weight very easily with the lap band if you eat the wrong foods. working out and eating healthy is the way to go. Since the owner knows and ok'd it. Go for it! Good luck! -
Welcome to the "At or near goal forum"
leedorr replied to Chickie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Chickie I guess as I read the responses, it felt like peole were arguing. My dr. says protein first, then veggies not potatoes, rice, noddles or bread. A minimum of 30grams of other carbs. Weight lost is quick and effective with that and exercise. I take vitamins and do not consider them "medications" they are supplements not quite the same. Since surgery other than my situatin right now, I have been very succesful. from378 to 206 right now. I had surgery so I wouldn't need "fast weight loss pills" and have embarked on a new life style. Isn't that what this is all about? -

WOW! I'm impressed! What dedication! Good for you! I do understand that pbing stuff. I had surgery on my foot, it got infected so I had fluid removed from my banded. It has been a diaster for me weight wise. I go friday for a fill and I can't wait! I was only 20 pounds or so froim my goal now I am up 14 pounds! Alot has to do with stress and antibiotics and me losing control with pain meds and all. BUt U made some relly unhelthy decisions. It is hard to get back on tract when I feel hungry so much. Friday can't get her soon enough for me! Sassy, I started at 378 lost down to 311 before my band. now I am 220 was 206 before my surgery. Nothing feels so good as going into a regular dtore to buy clothes! Good luck! This is a great site! -

Ok I just read all these responses and I am really confused. I am near goal but have had a difficult time right now. I had foot surgery developed a really bad infection had to have my band opened and now am having a really hard time sticking to prootcol. My doctor's program is eating protein first and then if there is room eat veggies. Take vitamins as a routine and exercise. I found I can usually do this. I have a fill on Friday and now want really badly to get back on track. I am in Jacksonville and also have a Dr. is awarded the cebnter of excellence. I use to live in St. Pete and know Palms of Pasadena Hospital very well. Worked there on occasion. Thaks for the in put.
