BMI over 60? and sleep apnea. I don't know what insurance you have but that would have been enough to be approved for me. I hope you get approved. If not don't stop trying! Being banded has been the best thing for me! -
Sorry to hear about your band slippage. Glad that things are going better. I'm in Jacksonmville but lived in Clearwater from 1979 till 2000. Hope things are going well for everyone down there. My kids still live there so I am there quite a bit. Good luck to everyone!

I found a great trainer also, who use to be a weight lifter. Pushes me and for an old lady lol I do really well. These no nonsense trainers are the best for me. Great results also! If you can afford them, I highly recommend them. -

I have Aetna and it took me 4 months. I had to do 3 months worth of visits before I fulfilled the requirements. I lived in Clearwater until 2000. Who is doing your surgery? I was a RN and worked at Largo Medical Center for about 8 years and then as a rent a nurse for a while. Good luck. I am 59 -
Best wishes. You are on your way. Is he at St. Vincent's?

Slight Ddespression due to not being able to eat
leedorr replied to TrimKim's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Kim, I have been banded for a little over a year. I have finally realized that it wasn't the food Imissed so much as the associated of events that went with the food. Also, you are grieving for your old life style. So yes, you are normal!!!! Imknow others have told you the same thing. As you progress, other foods will taste good to you, and as you see the transition of your body you will be happier than ever before! ALso, with the carbs out of my body, I think better, have more energy and really am enjoying being able to buy clothes in the "regular" store! Good luck and keep going you will be fine. Just ride the wave!!!!!!! -

If you are not hungry and stillm losing weight why have a fill. I have a 10cc band and have only been filled about 4 times, others have been filled to the limit. Each one of us are different. You'll know when you need a fill. Trust your body. -
Hi Edd My brother and my niece had Dr. Grossbard do their surgery. They really liked him. I had his friend and colleague here in Jacksonville do my surgery. Goodluck. Sharon

Yvonne I think you just need to take a breath, get through your divorce and care for yourself and your children. There are men who don't care about skin. There are clothes that can camoflouge your body. But please take care of yopurself and your children dduring the transition period. -

Dear Smiling apple Take a deep breath! Try to relax! The key to losing weight is consisteny. It is also directly connected to your way of thinking. You are the only one who puts food in your mouth. Maybe you need a little counseling to help get your mind in the right place. Keep focused and you can do this. On the other hand, the reason you want to be banded is because like me and most of us, if we could do it all by ourselves we would! Talk with your Dr. Work on getting your mind focused on you and quit worrying aobut others and their sabatage effects! -
Welcome to the first day of the rest of your healthy life! Good luck!

Not banded, worrying about-PBing or Throwing up
leedorr replied to michiganer's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I second that! I have had some pbing No big deal. It tells me that's I've eatend to fast or too much. I lern from that! Some peole have a lower pain tolerance than others. Pleae don't let one person's post determine your decision. Shopping in the regular store and being able to walk certaainly out weighs a little pbing! Good luck with your decision. -
2nd fill, not sure if the bands works for me ?
leedorr replied to pjrugby's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It takes sometimes 3 or even 4 fills to feel the retrictionand not feel hungry. I was restricted immediately after surgery because I had a hiatal hernia I didn't even know about. I have only had 4 fills in a year. I lost 100 in this past year. I am almost at goal. You definitely need to get enough protein in first of all and stay away from carbs like bread rice potatoes and noodles. Get moving! exercixe and get your mind off food. alo, drink that water you will see results! Good luck -
Here is the truth about the band
leedorr replied to alysedg23's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Having the band is a new way of eating. I have learned to eat slow, small amounts . Sometimes chicken is ok sand sometimes not but that doesn't stop me from eating with friends some know and some doesn't. Some people have all the issues you did but some do not. Perhaps you could title you info as "the truth about the band as I know it" Good luck I hope you can get to a point where you can eat almost everything except bread for right now. -

Don't get discouraged! Remember to get protein in especially when you are exercising every day. When you lift weights get your limit of carbs in also. Drink plenty of water that's also a key! consistency! consistency! You can do this!

lap band surgery/hiatal hernia repair combo
leedorr replied to sweet_liberty's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a hiatal hernia. Dr. said that he had to repair it before he could place the band. Make sense to me because then the food wouldn't back up. Anyway, I found I had a certain restriction after surgery even before the first fill. I didn't know I had it but then I was already trying not to eat after 7 pm so I didn't really have any symptoms like most people, I didn't eat things that caused acid reflux. Anyway, it really worked to have it fixed for me -
I want to go into Victoria's Secret and buy the sexiest set of bra and parities in the store! Red! I can probably do that now but I want to be a size 10-12. Right now I am a size 14 down from as size 3X or 26 (tight fit) !!!!

I don't not because I can't after a year, but it taste so bad to me now! Hope it taste better for you!
