Post-Op Care and Surgical Records?
dork replied to Canary Diamond's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
This is stated in the packet you get from Dr Kelly you will receive this....Just make sure you ask for them if you do not get them before leaving the hospital. I have also emailed his helper Lora and she got back to me pretty quickly. Luckily I have had no problems and my home dr was on board. -

dork replied to Canary Diamond's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Actually I used Dr Kelly.I was sent home with a copy of my blood test, a copy of my ekg, and a copy of my leak test showing 4 views from Angeles Hospital a letter stating my chest xray results. Also included was a letter explaining pain meds, a letter about dermabond, a letter explaining the surgery and a note about taking time off work. Just make sure you leave with them. -
Comparison Chart/graph on Mexico Drs.. anyone?
dork replied to Tris's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I also made my own...made a list of what was important....looked for those things and like they said above, it was pretty much narrowed down to a top few. Everyone should do their own research. I would hate to put info on a table etc and someone use my info and heaven forbid something happen. -
may sleevers....a month out...how r u doing?
dork replied to sleeveb430's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sleeved May 30th. The first 20 came of quickly. Now it is v e r y s l o w. I'm eating soft foods, but I think I may need to stay away for mashed potatoes (1/4 cup) and cream of wheat. May need to eat more cottage cheese and scrambled eggs. I'm about 22 pounds down. -
I too was worried at first. Our thing is getting together for dinner or big family gatherings. I go on cruises and vacations and eating is a very big part of my life. You talk about enjoying a soda at the park...have an ice tea. You can still eat at gatherings, just a small spoon of this and that instead of a meat platter full....You and only you can make the decision. Like the gals above said, if you are unsure, put it off and maybe talk to some people who have gone through it and had the same feelings. I hope you make the right decision.

Speaks English and Uses Dermabond
dork replied to Canary Diamond's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I had Dr Kelly. He spoke great English and uses dermabond. Very happy with everything. -
Good for you. We come to a point where we just can't struggle anymore. I was kind of giving up but didn't want to end up riding a hover round so I too had to do this. I'm so glad we have this tool to help manage and save our lives. In 3 weeks I am off my sugar meds and hope at the end of the month to be off cholestrol meds.

Keep up the good work!! -
Good luck. Sounds a lot like me...at 55. You sound like you have a strong will and mind. You will do fine.

You really need to discuss that with your doctor. Hope you get feeling better.

I felt so hungry also and my stomach was growling. the Dr said it was mental hunger...uh..I don't believe that. The 2 weeks of liquid was really a stuggle for me...jello, popsicles, gatorade. I had quit the nutra sweet and everything tastes so sickening sweet n gross to me. Finally on the soft stuff....and I really feel better. Just timing food and drink. But it makes you think of what you are putting in your body. Things will get better....it will

day of my first weight and measure May 16, 2013 -
I've had the gurgling and burping also. I'm 2 weeks out and eating soft foods. Every once in a while I feel a twinge in my stomach at eating. It's telling me to slow down....I also use Unjury and Syntrax nector. A choc shake with almond milk and throw in a couple of nice fresh picked strawberries...yummy. Good luck!

Wow, I haven't come across any of those posts. I too have had sneers etc, mostly at the gym I stopped going to but will resume in another 25 pounds. Maybe it was just me...I don't know. I do know that people in the gyms are there for their health and not to socialize. Even though I will lose weight, I still have many friends who are over weight. Hopefully the change I am making will help some of my friends.

What do I eat on the way home?
dork replied to Olivia23's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I bought a gatorade at the airport. Then on the plane I had the attendant pour me half glass of apple juice and half water. Was wishing they had jello, but all I could find was yogurt which I wasn't aloud to have yet. -
Pain medicine coming home?
dork replied to Olivia23's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
My doc gave me pain and antibiotics to bring home. My driver had a medical pass for the border, no problems or at the airport. -
Television in Florence?
dork replied to birdl0vergirl's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
There should be by now. When I was there on may 30th, there were many in Tijuana that didn't get their cable boxes from a change from analog to digital like we had in the states a few years ago. If you have an ipad or something, make sure it's operating system is at least 5.0 and you can stream videos from their wifi. -
First day of soft foods....what did you eat?
dork posted a topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery

Tijuana safety Qs for people who have BTDT ...
dork replied to chickadee73's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
We were at Florence hospital. My hubby ventured out to the 7/11 type store. Going to Lucerna Hotel thru Tijuana is a trip. The traffic is utterly crazy. At Lucerna there was a big VW car show going on across the street. We walked all down thru there and didn't feel a bit unsafe...probably the only Americans with a thousand locals. We also walked around down other streets. Just don't go down any dark alleys and use common sense. -
Surgery Experience: Dr. Kelly 6/10/13
dork replied to losingit2013's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I didn't get a fruit basket either...but wouldn't have been able to eat it anyway. You are probably a little more sore with the hernia repair. I had Dr Kelly do mine on May 30th at florence, leak test at Angeles and stayed at Lucerna also. Good luck, you will feel better soon. -
