When I started mushy foods we could have canned fruit. I have had watermelon, cantelope and a peach so far. But I'm eating regular food now. Haven't tried raw veggies yet.

What about 12 oz of gatorade? I was supposed to do this everyday while on liquids.
-
I'll remember till I do it again. I have a 4 oz dish I use. Sometimes eat itt all and sometimes not. I think it was the chicken breast.

I do try...but I had some chix breast this afternoon. I had to sit a while. Felt like I needed to wash it down with water ( I know better than that) or I needed to burp really really bad....People ask how do you know when you're full...you know...lol

My house smells like a pizzeria...I made the famous Ricotta Bake
dork replied to genepha's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for sharing. that looks yummy. -
I had something like that. My left leg in particular got a little numb feeling about 2 weeks out. I was scared it was a clot so I went in and had the ultra sound and all was good. I think it was a pinched nerve from being moved around after surgery. I'm good now. But i really did start drinking more liquids and gator ade for the cramping.

Searching for a good cook book
dork replied to dork's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Great information. Thanks all. I'm getting so bored I feel like cheeting...and we all know that is bad -
I'm getting tired of eating dairy products for the protein. I'm 6 weeks out now and getting bored with the food choices, although I only eat 4 oz at a time. I've been on Amazon looking for cookbooks and seems all of the books reviews say they aren't high protein low carb. Anyone have a cook book they really like? Or should I be looking for Atkins or South Beach books? thanks

Wow!!! congratulations. I hope I am as successful. I know what you mean about just a bite. I keep telling myself that the first bite is the best...after that it's just eating. -
How do you know when you are full?
dork replied to momo23's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I start feeling a little heaviness in my chest and sometimes I gurgle and burp. I use a 4 oz bowl. If it doesn't fit it doesn't get eaten. Depending on what I eat, sometimes don't finish half of it. -
Cottage cheese? Love it. As a kid I used to put a little catsup on it...ok...let's hear it...YUCK!!! Now, my grandmother was from the old country in Serbia. They mixed cottage cheese with noodles. I still do this and add a little black pepper. My kids ate in when they were in college as it was a cheap food...but good.

Why can't I just add protein to store bought puddings and soups?
dork replied to marfar7's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't know anything about buying products from the dr....but the pudding thing....get a box of sf choc pudding (or any flavor) put in 2 scoops of protein powder and 2 cups vanilla unsweetened almond milk. Mix very well and put into popsicle molds or paper cups with sticks. Makes a yummy pudding pop with protein. -
I drink motts for tots, less sugar and still go half and half with water. It just flavors the water a little. I hate to see you drinking all of those calories.

Surgery Experience: Dr. Kelly 6/10/13
dork replied to losingit2013's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Sad thing is...with my insurance....my dr can order tests but my insurance always denies everything. I'm 55, my dr ordered a bone density test..insurance said no pay for...you gotta be 65. -
We have people that do the same thing. I also have people that are really rude. I quit going until I take some weight off. I was getting snide looks and re-wiping my equipment after I just wiped very well. Seems fat people may have a disease they don't want to catch.

Dr. Ramos-Kelly: Positive testimonies but questionable rating?
dork replied to Ava324's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I used Dr Kelly. That was not on there when I was searching. It did pop up there when all this crap started about Nova Hospital. I was told the same thing by his office...the owner of that site is for the top 2 drs. I had a very good experience. -
For the first time ever, I dont feel like I am on a diet!
dork replied to Miss Piggy's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'm starting my 5th week and am eating real food Went out to eat before a concert. ordered cheese sticks, took off the breading and ate 1...way too chewy. I did eat 1 bite of my hubbies sandwich. It used to be eat the whole sandwich and a huge pile of fries. He made spareribs last night. Yes I ate 1 and 1 bite of coleslaw. Used to be I'd eat 6 or 7 ribs and half a pound of slaw. By the way...I do eat healthy too...but just saying that I can eat food...just way smaller portions which is wonderful. It doesn't fee like dieting...just getting fuller quicker. And another thing. I have a 4 oz bowl...if it don't fitit doesn't get eaten -

Hang in there. I am 4 weeks out and can eat real food. It's not as much as I used to eat...but I'm ok with that because I need to get fit. Keep that in your mind. Your health is more important than a few bites of food that will just end making you miserable. Every time I see a fast food commercial say oh no...that is so bad for you. Was at a fair last night with all that bad food and just kept telling myself how unhealthy it is. Keep telling your self your health is more important. You will be ok...

I had the same thing. I went in and had a blood clot ultra sound in my legs and nothing showed up. Some say its from getting jostled on and off the operating table and pinched a nerve. Mine lasted a few days bad and still get a little now, nothing bad. I started reading and found that runners get cramps from not being hydrated and low potassium. I drank gator ade and added more water...as much as i possibly could. Even half a banana for the potassium. I used to eat a banana a day. This seemed to help. But...talk to your doctor. This may not be the same thing.

When can I know that I'm not gunna have a leak?
dork replied to marfar7's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You will start to feel it in your chest. I have a 4 oz dish I use. Sometimes can't make it to 3 oz. When you start to feel it...stop. Don't force anything. -
Normal. I just have my hubby at home and he's been pretty good though. Just keep thinking there is going to be a healthier you. I had mine the day after you did. You will be able to eat again...just very small portions.
