Congratulations on 4 years clean. Best thing is to talk to your doctor. I quit taking all pain meds the next morning after my surgery. I guess I was one of the lucky ones. He will know what is best for you. Stay clean

I'm not a fast loser. My dr said no more than 1200 ever.I'm at about 5-600 and I'm about 7 weeks post op. I can only consume so much...but I see my dinners getting a little larger.

I quit using them a long time ago. They gave me headaches and brain fog. When I want to flavor a water, I basically really really water down a low sugar fruit juice to the point of little taste.

46 pounds lost, and wearing the same clothes?!?
dork replied to megansmommy123's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have lost and gained the same 60 pounds 10 times and still have never gotten out of my 22's. It is frustrating. The only thing people see is a thinner face. I always say that I lose from the neck up, elbows out and knees down. -
Self pay sleevers: BMI of 30 or close
dork replied to Tripletmom's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I had always heard you had to be 100 pounds over weight. I was losing and gaining 60 pounds every 3 years or so. I wish I would've known about this at one of my low points to help continue losing and not gain it back. I've lost and gained probably 1000 lbs over my life time...I'm 55. -
Oopsie rolls? Has anyone tried making these?
dork replied to megansmommy123's topic in Regular foods (stage 4)
Thanks for sharing that recipe. My friend who lost over 100 pounds without the surgery posted that a year or so ago and I was looking for it. She said she ate those when she needed a little something sweet. -
Mom usually takes me over night, then the next few days are smooth sailing. I'm not eating enough yet to eat fiber one etc. Still trying for the high protein and water.

Knowing What You Know Now, You would/not have...
dork commented on morninflower's blog entry in morninflower's Blog
I would do it all over again in a heart beat. I have recommended to many. I did use the gas x strips when getting that pain between the shoulder blades. Small plate, baby spoon...and reading these forums are a great help and support. I have never had any remorse or anything like that about eating. I'm 55 and have yoyod and lost and gained 1000 pounds over my life time so I am really good with this. Don't know how good my hubby is handling though. He has to eat left overs a lot and sometimes finishes what I don't eat. We had company the other night and the hubby makes the best ribs. I ate 1 rib and about 1/4 of a corn on the cob. I used to eat 5 or 6 ribs and 3 or 4 corns.....The grocery bill is soooo small...I like that, but I was a fruit aholic and I miss my fruit. Plus the best part is I'm shrinking, off all of my meds...sugar, cholestrol and arthritus and feeling very good -
I'm about 6 weeks out and haven't tried it yet....still trying to get in protein. 2 weeks before surgery the doc had me eating everything but chewing very well to practice chewing. I could chew iceberg lettuce ok, but leafy stuff just didn't work to well.

Thanks for sharing Cheri. It's good to hear from people years out and see how they are doing.Your baby is beautiful. Love that retro Cherries top too. I know it will be a long struggle for me also. I'm a boredom eater.

Did you feel like your laptop was safe?
dork replied to Canary Diamond's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I didn't have any problems either. I did not leave anything sit in the open while we went walking at the hospital and also had things tucked away at the hotel. Just like being in the states, use common sense. -
***WARNING*** PLEASE READ
dork replied to newgrandmother's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was getting leg cramps or tingling especially in my left leg. Started reading an found that runners drink gator ade or power ade so they don't get leg cramps. It's lack of potassium. Before surgery I ate a banana every day. I have it...but dilute it. -
Wow!!! 2 months??? Good job. Keep a goin

Preop liquid diet question
dork replied to dustin551's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've read so many different things from different surgeons. 2 weeks pre I was to just watch what I ate and chewed my food really good. The week before was on liquids and cream soups. It may also depend on your weight and bmi. -
Artifical Sweeteners and Headaches
dork replied to lash44's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I quit drinking diet products a few years ago because they are very harmful and I had bad headaches and brain fog. And now I have started them again, but have to be very careful. Aspertame is known for causing you to want more sweets and wait gain. I would rather dilute my low sugar baby juices than to put that stuff in my body again. I do use stevia. -
I feel like crap. I think I would rather have hunger pangs then the overeating pain in the chest. UGH!!!

May sleevers! How much have you lost so far?
dork replied to mrsplusamericajacksonville's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Surgery May 30th. Including 2 weeks preop 39 pounds. My hubby says he can see my clothes hanging off of me. Don't want to buy new ones till next spring. I stalled in week 3 also. Then a pound here and there. Two days ago the scale started moving again...3 pounds at a time....yippee!!! -
I bought a rotisery chicken the other day that was so moist it melted in your mouth. This was left over and not so moist. Maybe that was it....
-
The gatorade helped me to get thu the leg cramps. I had some pretty nasty cramps for a few days and read up on runners cramps. Said I needed electrolytes and in a few days they were gone.....(actually I was drinking powerade at 15 for $10)
-
I too had the dry heaves for a few hours after surgery. I did not want to throw up. The first few days are the worst. Then you get over that liquid diet and things do get better.
