I'll be getting mine at the Florence Hospital with Dr Kelly May 30. It just felt right and my doctor looked over his credentials etc and was fine with it. He agreed to do my follow ups.

My name is Cindy. I am going to be 55 in August. I have battled weight all of my life. I have to do something as I can't live the rest of my life gaining weight. I've done all the fad diets, weight watchers and have lost weight but can't keep it off. I have probably lost and gained over 1000 pounds in my life time. My insurance won't cover the surgery. Self pay around here is about $22,000. My daughter had the bypass a few years ago. I went to meetings and have watched her so i know what I am up against. I have told my 2 kids and they were skeptical at first, but my one daughter is getting married the end of August and wants to help me pick out a dress I have been researching, reading, looking at youtube videos for a few months now. I chose Dr Kelly at the Florence Hospital. I liked his credentials and the hospital, the number of surgeries performed and success rate. . This morning I took copies of all the paper work and credentials etc to my pcp. He is a big health nut. He organized a program for our town to lose weight and a walking program too. He looked over all of my paperwork and had a few questions. I told him my husband is on board and when I quit smoking he smoked elsewhere till he quit himself. This will be good for him also. He is very supportive. The doc said to go for it. That the benefits outway the risks and wants to see me 1 month post op. I'm so happy for this. He wasn't skeptical at all. I sent in my paperwork this morning. I really don't see any problems and hope to schedule real soon. I was nervous at first, but am so excited...especially since I have all those blessings.

Thanks. I have slightly elevated cholestrol and sugar and yes I have knee and joint pain also. I'm looking forward to walking the dog more than 15 minutes at a time

I am just now scheduling my surgery for next month. I had an appointment this morning with my doctor and took all of the info in with me I printed out...stuff on the hospital, the doctors credentials, info on the surgery pre and post op. He knows I have been battling my weight for the 20 years i have been going to him. He said to go for it....he said the benefits outway the risk. My doctor is a health nut and has started a program for the town to loose weight and walk. He wants to see me 1 month post op.....find someone who will help you!!!!

I was looking into locally having the sleeve done here but my insurance won't pay. Been researching Mexico but am overwhelmed. I keep coming up with new fasilitators and doctors. Is there one website out there that lists all these companies, the doctors and their ratings etc? I've been reading all of these posts, most sound pretty good, but I'm kind of scared about the ones who are not talking. I was reading 1 post where it left off she was going in for surgery a few weeks ago and hasn't left another message. I feel like I'm going in circles trying to research. There is just so much information out there.I thought maybe starting a list....Please put the Doctor, city, the hospital, the hotel, days at hospital and days at hotel and the company you used.... I'm hoping this list will help us newbies in getting information in one place. Then we can all do our research on each. Sorry I haven't responded lately. I've been so busy. I wanted to get this done this summer but I think more likely the first of next year. Daughter getting married, 2 cruises and running 2 home businesses...need more time to research. There's some very good information here and I will keep on reading for a while and taking notes. Again, thanks all. I have so much to look at. I'm really not reading anything too bad yet. As for price, under the 20 grand they want here, but care is what is most important. I want a few days in a hospital, a few days at a hotel, safe area, hospital not clinic, someone with lots of surgeries under their belt, only do a few a day. No deaths...least with complications, you know....what everyone else wants

Thanks Kat, I too want a hospital to stay a few nights then atleast a hotel for a few more. I was looking at one in Juerez which I don't see anything so far on this board thru belightweight which I don't see mentioned here either. They are like in and out the same day. That scares me. It seems like Tiuana is the place to go. I have a lot more research to do yet and other website boards to read. Thanks for your imput.

Absolutely I think talking to people. I am reading this board and will be reading others. I see different facilitators with the same drs and the same hospitals. What makes one better than the other? I've started a spread sheet type paper and am taking notes of the drs and hospitals etc. So far I'm hearing the most about Dr Garcia. I see he is under ready4change and alighterme and at Florence hopital and midoctor. I'm hearing more about Midoctor and alighterme. Where can I go to actually see their credentials, if they are posted, how do you know if they are for real? How do you find out how many surgeries they have done? how do you find out about a death or complications toll? I appreciate all your help. Cindy
