Anyone feeling my pain?
antitoni replied to antitoni's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

I'm about a month out, had surgery April 16. I've now lost about 50lbs since surgery. Not exercising much. Get a little walking in. Currently I cannot eat anything with substance which sucks as I now have an petite. anything with substance causes too much gas which builds up in my chest and I'm throwing up for an hour (at least it seems that long) gas and finally the substance. So I'm having problems with getting Protein down. I'm suppose to have at least 64oz of fluids and not getting half of that. The gas pain is so uncomfortable that I'm afraid of eating or drinking anything that will cause it. I'm also tired of the liquid options. Don't eat Soup and so tired of the sweet tasting sugar-free options. Reached out to my surgeon who wants to see me this week. They said to keep getting fluids in and as long as I'm urinating I should be okay until then. Can tell you I'm not happy with the post op recovery, but looking forward to the end results.

Anyone feeling my pain?

Tried gas x chewables (125mg), but it seems like it makes it worse. Will have to try beano. My primary care dr gave me over the counter drops (20mg) for infants. I'm suppose to take 4 full drops after. Haven't tried them due to the issue with gas x. -

I was off for a month. Took the maximum days allowed by my employer. Stayed in town, but ran errands and got a lot of personal things done. I go back tomorrow. Figured I would be okay since my employer supplies me with most of what I need.

Help! I need some reassurance
antitoni replied to antitoni's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was actually taking an over the counter generic form once a day. I'll reach out to the Dr. for a prescribed version. Thanks.. -
From reading the different threads it appears that I may be rushing things. It also seems like everyone weight loss is different. I had my surgery April 16. I weighed 297 when I started the pre-op 10 day liquid diet. Three days after the sleeve I weighed 283. Ten days later I weighed 264 and 1 day later I weighed 262. I haven't weighed myself since April 30, but can tell I've lost more weight. I'm struggling with eating. Can't do purée. It's gross to me and reminds me of the food in Nursing Homes. I tried some thinly sliced turkey today with some light Swiss cheese spread and I had no chest issues which has been my issue. The horrible chest pain after eating certain foods. Tired of Protein shakes so has started on fruit smoothies with protein and Protein Bars. Vitamins are okay. My NUT told me on the 30th to start solids like Turkey, eggs, string cheese, grilled chicken, mash potatoes. Tried chicken & eggs and that didn't go we'll, or at least not at the second attempt. Tried scramble eggs with Applesauce and that didn't go we'll. I've decided to stay with liquids for the most part, but want to make sure I'm getting enough nutrients. I know, I know do as your surgeon instructs. Just wanted some feedback. Thanks!

Help! I need some reassurance

Thanks. I'm starting to think its how I'm eating more than what. I'm currently drinking a 24oz blended smoothie and its going down fine. I noticed I start my liquids late. Besides this smoothie I've only had about 4oz of liquids today. However, I do try to keep bottled Water with me at all times. Guess it just takes patience.... -

I saw the surgeon and nutritionist for the first time since surgery on April 30 and they said its time to start some solids. Maybe it's just my brain, but the purée foods are so gross to me. I like applesauce and mash potatoes. Will try the bake fish with mash potatoes. Had it with grits last night. I have no issue with Vitamins and meds. It's just the eating part. What about wine. Can we have that?

8 weeks out this week and feeling crappy
antitoni replied to Kitkat101484's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi all. My op was April 16 and I've lost 22lbs since the surgery. I started solids this week and is having difficulty. I no protien is important and has started drinking my shakes & smoothies. Actually the Dairy Queen smoothie with added Protein is really good and goes down smooth. It's a lot better than my at home blended Protein Shakes. I tried egg & chicken salad my mom makes without the extra fixings and that appears to b tolerable. Tried baked Talapia tonight and had the chest issue, which is my issue. I hate this part. What's the best way to handle this? I don't want to lose too much weight and have that drained older look. I actually like how I look now and only want to lose about 30lbs more. I'm 5'11 with a large frame and believe a size 18 Misses would be nice. -

Can only do straight liquids 7 days post-ops and having difficulty with 4oz in an hour. More like 3hrs. Started using hard candy as a supplement 5days post-op. Have no issues when I do. Any opinion?

Thanks for the great advice. I'll definitely try the many different recommended low calorie sugar free options.

I do try to drink more, slowly once I noticed I haven't in a while.
