    Attention ! Australian Sleevers

Hurray!Good to hear that the scales and the clothes sizes are on their way down for you:) I have had the barium swallow which was icky and involved a hospital gown that showed my undies :/ It is the first real step towards the sleeve which is in early July. I am finding it very hard to comprehend the tiny portions I will need to eat but I am staying positive.I have struggled with my huge appetite, no matter how much weight I have lost, all my life.

Fantastic photo Jimbo.Thanks.It is really helpful to see your incisions and get my head around the reality of what is going to happen. Hard to imagine that there won't be heaps of pain but I have heard the ward walking/shuffle is really important.I actually like the idea of the morphine high though sueoco. It will be the first decent rest since my bubbies.Lol!

Thanks sueoco - I shall store your good wishes up for after my surgery I am still running around having presurgery appts. Saw the dietician Jason last week.He was thorough, and, most importantly for me: non-judgemental.Actually all the staff at Canberra Bariatric are lovely. Then I have a barium swallow, blood test and an endoscopy (this one is taking ages and has an additional preadmission appt). If all is well I am booked in for July 3rd for the sleeve.Whew!

Hi Sunette!I have only just joined but I want to say that as a 'pre-sleever' with a 40.2 bmi I think that your 10 kg total loss in such a short time sounds great.Have your cm changed much in the last few weeks?

Thanks for this info mistysj. It is really reassuring to hear Dr Mosse booked me in to see the bariatric dietician on Friday to discuss preop diets so he can't be too concerned.I just wasn't expecting all the tests he ordered!

Nessa,I would have thought that meeting your cousin after a 45kg weight loss would be a great surprise!S/he may not recognise you! On a different note I have a question for the general thread.I know that reflux after sleeving is a recognised side effect. Is having reflux *before* the surgery a contraindication to having the sleeve done?I stopped the anti-inflammatories 5 weeks ago when I got reflux and my kidney function started dropping (blood test last week shows my kidneys have recovered but the reflux persists).I am quite worried now that I won't be allowed to have the surgery if my tests are bad.
