I was told lots of strong coffee could irritate the new sleeve so I stuck to one flat white a day in the first few weeks post surgery. They had instant coffee on the tray in hospital so it must be the strong brew to avoid.

Yep.Happened to me as well on fluids-took a good week for any action and then another week before any bm routine.Keep up the benefibre.Try 2tspns in the morning and 2tspns in the afternoon.Puree stage will definitely help (as will movicol).I still use benefibre on my porridge 10 weeks out if needed.Good luck (Edited to add postscript) P.S: forgot to suggest prune juice in Fluid stage.

Yes I am sure you are right Sue.I honestly don't think people in general are consciously aware of it.In fairness we do tend to Celebrate achievements with food. The attempted sabotage is definitely coming from a friend and one family member though.I am surprised by all the attention my weight loss is getting.Get a life people! Lol! Despite all this I am still steadily losing about a kilo a week.Love my sleeve

My weight loss is obvious now and I getting a lot of positive comments.A bit too many at work actually but I figure that something more interesting will come along soon enough lol! And -yes-I am more visible to people generally. What is really unsettling me is the number of people and 'friends' who are congratulating me * then * bringing in entire cakes or chocolates or creamy pastries for me for no reason ( not a birthday or celebration). It is really, really bizarre.

Also watch the meals where you may have more carbs Helen as I find that I want to snack more afterwards. If you absolutely must have something to eat have a bite of Protein or half an Optifast bar/shake-it does help-especially if you hate opti like me.Lol!.

Saw my GP today.I am tired and wobbly cos I am severely Iron deficient and it looks as though my arthritis is becoming rheumatoid or lupus. So no issues with my trusty sleeve or calorie intake-thanks again for all your support and sensible advice. My GP said I had the sleeve done in the nick of time.No-one would operate on me now. 22kg down and only able to walk cos of the weight loss.Latest NSV: my knickers fell down inside my work slacks yesterday.Lol! Absolutely love my sleeve

Great advice as always guys. I will increase to 800 cals and watch my electrolytes. Now I think of it I was having 800 cals on the optifast stage when I lost heaps and that was considered to be *very* low calorie. Some days I am not making 650 cals.I'll let you know what my dietician says as well. Thanks!

    Attention ! Australian Sleevers

I am now going into week 7 post-sleeve and have *finally* started a 'normal' diet.I am averaging 600 -700 cals a day and am meeting my protein and water goals and taking all the vits/mins.Losing just over a kilo a week steadily I feel really tired and wobbly (blood test ok). What calorie intake is everyone else on? Am I too low? I know our diet is different now with volume but I am not sure how much or how little I should have.Any ideas?

Hurray! A NSV at last! My usual work pants started sliding down - too big even with the granny elasticised waist lol- and I now actually fit into a size 18 pair of slacks at a 'regular' shop. More importantly I ran...yes RAN ... up a small flight of stairs to catch my little boy AND I could still walk without limping too much afterwards or needing codeine for the arthritis pain.Huge achievement for me even tho it sounds small. Love my sleeve.
