You may not even have surgery if they do a drug test preop for nicotine. My doctor will not do surgery if you have nicotine in your body. And yes they can do that. I highly suggest you never have another cig before surgery. I am not being mean but honest. Hopefully if you can quit prior to surgery, you can quit for good. I know it is hard, been there done that. Good luck! HUGSI don't plan on having anymore, I can't afford to fail a test if they do one, I need thus surgery. Since it was only a few after having it out of my system I figure it will probably be gone by today actually, hopefully. -

Are you drinking too much at one time maybe -
Your life will change forever, it is normal to be nervous, scared, excited, worried, and second guess yourself. But don't let those nerves change your mind. Almost every person I have ever asked said they didn't regret a think and would do it all over again in a heartbeat. I am right there with you and going to have surgery soon. It's hard to imagine life any different than we are used to so it kinda tends to take over our thoughts.

I have surgery in a week to two weeks (date hasn't been determined yet) and I am struggling with quitting. Believe it or not I quit for a month started up again for 3 weeks, then off a week, then had a pack, off for 5days had 4 cigarettes, now 2 days without. I can't keep going back and forth but hell it is hard. I am using a 0mg nictotine vape and it helps but the mental urge is the problem. Idk if I will be tested before surgery or not, but I do not want to take the chance and continue smoking and possibly being turned away for surgery. What scares me the most is as soon as they put you under anesthesia they know you are a smoker because you will have a difficult time maintaining a certain oxygen level. -
Well I was told yesterday I was approved for surgery and now I need to make an appointment to see the surgeon and he will then give me a surgery date. Waiting for them to call me to make that appointment. Did anyone ever feel like they couldn't see themselves getting the surgery or for whatever reason they were undeserving of this surgery and therefore expected something to go wrong that would cancel the whole process? I thought I would be denied, not because I had a reason to but simply because I can't see myself smaller or healthier. I feel like I self sabotage in a way because for whatever reason I am undeserving of being happy healthy and thinner. Seems like I have dug a self hate hole with my obesity that I am going to have to work on climbing out of. Anyway did anyone ever have feelings like this and if you are post op have you felt more deserving of this blessing of having the surgery?

That is very true, these days it seems like you save a buck but gain a pound with all of the processed foods being cheaper than healthier alternatives

Wow 180lbs is an amazing accomplishment. Ill be honest I cant loose more than 10 to 15lbs without getting discouraged and throwing in the towel. It seems I have never felt I was worth investing the time in.
-
Soo true, I honestly cant even picture my body 100lbs lighter

I am also afraid of not being happy with the way I look after. I also worry I won't ever be happy with the way I look no matter what.

Outside of being healthy, what are you looking forward to most...

Crossing my legs again, being able to make it grocery shopping without being exhausted, buying sexy undergarments and lingerie, having my husband pick me up when we kiss, not having to tell people I skipped a meal as an excuse for wanting to eat when no one else is, keeping up with my kiddos, taking the kids out to do more activities, start accepting offers to birthday parties or gatherings with friends that I would otherwise be uncomfortable going to, the list goes on and on -
I heard chap stick is a big one and a pillow too Happy re-birthday, that is cute I like that

Thank you for sharing your story that means a lot. It feels better to know I am not the only one who has had negative feelings about myself on this journey.

elrios1 replied to elrios1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I purchased some of the really small disposable ones with lids, kinda like the ones they put condiments in sometimes for to go orders -
So just found out I was approved and happen to be going shopping today. Please help me come up with a good list of things to get for pre or post surgery and the first month or so post op. Favorite fluids, broths, etc. I have my protein drinks and vitamins covered but what else might I need for surgery or after surgery. Spam me with your favorite items.

Anyone have suggestions on decent tasting proteins
elrios1 replied to jms7e3's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is worth a shot girl but is the serving size 2 scoops or one, sometimes it can be hard to dissolve a few scoops in a small amount of substance. I say make a post on here asking if anyone has tried it if they like it etc. If it has an aftertaste idk if u will be able to choke it down. I was willing to pay more for geenepro because everyone in the fb groups raved about it being undetectable dissolves great.etc. Ask around see if anyone has tried it. -
If you do not need any support you should have taken your 'rant' elsewhere. I think you need to honestly look how you handled this entire situation and see who is really acting like the "lil girl". *drop the mic* "bye Felicia" I am done here sweetie, goodnight and god bless

I think the real question is why are you being so hateful. Obviously you do not understand her demeanor and she didn't understand your's. She did not mean to offend you I am sure but you Did intend to be rude to her. Every single person who has responded you have had something rude or tacky to say. You need to check your character if you believe that bringing others down will make you feel better. If you need to talk to someone about the hatred you are carrying around with you, I don't mind listening, but seriously enough of the bs you will never find friends to support you on here with attitude like that.

She was confused by what you were saying because you didn't explain as well as you think you did. She literally thought you wrote a drunk post or you were having other issues going on because it seemed as if you were rambling and she didn't see how your story tied together. You in turn were very disrespectful and did not have to talk to any of these people the way you did. Grow up honey, while you are over here getting defensive and being rude to everyone, we are all just trying to translate what the heck we just read.
