  1. Hi fellow lap banders I had my band put in 10 months ago. In the first 5 months I lost almost half my weight which was 12kg. I am on the lighter side of lap bander. Lately I have rediscovered the treats and gotten lazy and regained almost half of what i lost. I feel like I am failing and I dont know how to get myself out. I am scared to go get readjusted as I dont want to discover exactly how much I have put on and have the doctors tell me to exercise and eat right because I tell myself that every morning and its not working. I feel terrible as I am only 19 and my parents paid for me to have this operation and I am wasting there money and the more depressed I get about it the more I eat. Has anyone experienced this or got through this feeling maybe you can give me some helpful tips. Thanks Chubby Chloe!

it sounds like you have way more reasons listed than i did on my forms. I think list anything that being overweight has caused problems with in your life. I was the same lost a lot of weight on a pill felt all good looking and got looks from guys and then it was all back on again probably lost and gained my weight again about 4 times before I gave up. My mum had the lap band 9 years ago has lost 40kg and is the happiest shes ever been if she hadnt of had it i wouldnt have known about it and have it now and would be miserable still. keep me updated on any other questions that worry you. from chloe

Hi Christine, when I filled out forms with my reasons for getting the band the social and mental health aspects were my main reasons. There were frequent occasions where I didnt go out because i just looked disgusting and I have always had thin Gorgeous friends to compare myself to.This lead me to a mild depression that has followed me since I hit puberty & started getting bigger. if you express to your surgeon how being heavy effects your life it should be reason enough. I really hope your surgeon is as good as mine. Im 4 days post op and lost 2kg and although the first few days were bad i can already feel how good this will be for me. I think people like us just dont have the motivation or commitment for diet and exercise to work so this option makes it alot easier for us. Good luck with everything keep me posted on whether or not you go ahead with it. From Chloe

    Lower BMI patient

I was banded with a BMI of 33. I dont know when labour day is for you guys since im in Australia but from experience I feel that after 2 weeks I would be able to go out but ive only been done 4 days ago so im just judging on how im healing so far. My surgeon had no problem with my low BMI in fact the less weight you have to loose and the younger you are means that you are most likely to achieve good results than older heavier people. Im only 18 so in a similar boat! Good luck with everything and keep us posted. It is SO worth doing it!!
  9. I was banded Monday been out of hospital 4 days. I find the shoulder pain goes away if i lean in the other direction so as its my left shoulder I sit so my right shoulder is higher and for the back pain Ive been using heat packs. I know with all the pain and discomfort you may be regretting it but I just keep telling myself a couple of weeks this pain will be over and ill be on track. Ive already lost 2 kg! Best of luck to you Ses. Chloe
  10. Hi I am 18 years old obese and have 12 days until my lap band and I am getting nervous!! :rolleyes I just spent 2 of the most humiliating weeks in Thailand were fat people are rare! I was asked what I eat how did I get so fat and many more 'fat questions' loudly, in front of lots of people that really left me feeling crap! Im scared of needles but I think everytime I have to have one I will be remembering the little Thai men and their comments and it couldnt be as painful as that. If anyone has any advice or things that were helpful to them before the operation let me know cos I am getting So nervous and scared! Thanks everyone Chubby Chloe
  11. Im Chloe Im 18 from Australia and overweight. My Mum got a lapband 10years ago and has now lost 30kilos. I've always been big but I've now realised there is no non-surgical solution for me other than more weight gain and trust me i have tried! So on July the 30th I am booked in for the lap band.I cant wait. FIFTY SIX DAYS!! :nervous The thought gives me hope and a real release from alot of sadness that being a young overweight person has caused. i hope to meet other young people in my situation or who have had the lap band.:clap2:

Im very grateful for all your support & Im very happy to have found someone in Melbourne! How long have you been banded and where did you get yours done?

    Six days 'til sugery....

sounds like all is going to plan. Im undergoing the surgery in 56 days (not that im counting!!) im apprehensive and knowing others feel that way is very reasuring! The surgeons are so experienced and careful it is very unlikely anything could go wrong. Good luck with your surgery and i hope to hear great results soon!
