Sharp pain between breasts? Normal?
nessieberry replied to BriDawn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my gallbladder out last year, so I know that's not what the sharp pain is. -for me that is. But it's a similar pain except I felt like the gallstone hurt in my back too. Reminded me a lot of labor pain. This is more on the front between and under the breasts. I'd say it is too strong to be gas pain, but it gets better when I burp. I hope my body leans how to process food and Water again. This sucks. -

what have you tried? I have Gas-x strips (they say they are cinnamon flavor but they lie) My doctor gave me hyoscyamine(levsin), and hydrocodone. The pain pills take the edge off a bit. Have you found anything better for the gas? Right now I just push agains my chest where it hurt and force myself to breath-if i don't I will hold my breath and that hurts more. I also find yelling helps sometimes. -

I'm feeling this too. It hurts a lot but it passes quickly. Does it do it with every food you eat or drink? I finds that it's not everything and varies a lot. Water hurts the most and seems to be the absolute most unpleasant thing to drink. pudding is fine, a pop cycle was terrible. For a few days I did best when I warmed up my Protein shake, but yesterday I did that and it hurt like mad. I also had painful diarrhea. I hate to say it but the only time it feels good to digest is when I'm walking. But I can't walk all the time-though I have been trying! Oh and I am doing okay with Isopure bottles. The nurse gave me a medicine cup and I take an ounce every 10 minutes. I set a timer on my phone and just keep snoozing it. it's the only way I can finish those drinks. I have ADD and could easily space off or become engrossed in something for hours and forget to drink. How are you fairing otherwise? I had my surgery on 4/22/13. I've been very restless. I keep cleaning my house-I never clean. I'm trying to make myself relax and watch some netflix. How are you doing? -

I got sleeved on 4/22, so I'm 5 days pre op. my back is hella messed up from however I was positioned in surgery. My super awesome fiend who is a masseuse is going to work on it later today. If it doesn't hurt can I lay on my stomach? I have a fear that if I lay on my stomach and she pushes on my back that I will burst. That's not possible right? Also is this dumping? I drank chocolate Protein milk with sugar in it and then pooed liquid for 6 times about 10 minutes after drinking it. I also screamed when pain shot horrifically through my abdomen and chest. Pacing and deep breathing helped.

6 days. 4/22/13 -
I talked to my NUT about the real sugar. She said its fine in these beginning stages because I'm not taking much in. Once I can eat food it will be nice to move to Proteins and fruits and vegetables. I'm down 12. How many calories are you aiming for? I seem to very wildly depending on what I can tolerate, buy try to keep it between 6-800. Yesterday was rough and I could only get in 500.

Day 5 Post Sleeve and still nauseous!
nessieberry replied to jessinoz4's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What state do you live in? I had a completely different medical issue in August and I couldn't take pain meds but had to b/c it hurt so bad. My friend made me pot brownies and it was a life saver. It really helped me with the nausea. I don't do recreational drugs but my friend talked me into it. It didn't take much talking into-I was desperate to stop the pain and the nausea. -

Are you using pain meds? It took me years to figure I was allergic to codeine it made debilitating nausea. I'd suggest asking your doc for a different pain med. zofran is awesome. Phennegrin isn't too bad if you don't mind being drowsy. Seriosly look into the pain meds. -
No drinking 30 minutes before or after meals?
nessieberry replied to nessieberry's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well...my plan of doing 1 ounce shot of ISopure with a chaser of water every 10 minutes is really working. I set my phone to go off with a really obnoxious song-drink it- and hit snooze. Yesterday was get your freak on and today is no diggity. Mwa hahaha spell check changed that to no dignity. Love that. -
Glad to hear it's getting easier. Each day you should feel improvement, I know I have. And this board is a great resource. Just message again if you need some support.

I wish I had practiced too. Can someone help me get my mind around this. I feel lik it would be easier to follow if I understood it. Is the issue that if you drink before and with a meal it will push the liquid and food through your stomach so you don't get or stay full? or is it the exact opposite-you will be full on Water and not have room for the food? I do better when I logically understand things. Also last night I ate cream of wheat and got horrific shooting pain in my chest right between my boobs. Horrible. It passed with in a minute but it scared me big time. From what I've read on here this sounds like gas. Let me know if you have any other idea. And a zillion thanks to everyone who is helping answer these questions. This site makes me feel so much better about my surgery. -
I got sleeved 4/22, monday of this week. I'm feeling good, keeping down liquids and drinking my Water and Protein. I have one problem. I'm full of nervous energy. I've been pacing my apartment, feeling like I need to things Worrying and fretting over things. But I don't have anything to worry and fret over. I'm off work, I finished everything before my leave, my son is at his dad's. I should be relaxing and watching loads of television and I can't sit still. My heart is racing. I called the doctor and they said it wouldn't be a side affect of any of my meds...but I'm usually a pretty chill person. well somewhat chill. Any body else feel this way?

Super antsy and anxious?
nessieberry replied to nessieberry's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Agreed. I think it will be really helpful to talk to other people with similar surgery dates. How is food going for you? I can't tell when I'm hungry but I'm mentally hungry. I'm trying to drink water when I feel that way. -

I'm trying. If there is one thing I am good at is laying around, being lazy, and enjoying naps. Somehow I couldn't do any of that today. Not that cleaning and organizing is a bad thing, but why am i doing it now? I took a bath and that helped relax me a bit. Tomorrow I'm going to get started on my netflix queue. Maybe that will help me relax. -

If you are okay with having more calories Naked and Bolthouse make drinks that are 30 grams of Protein for about 400 calories. I've found that the isopure drinks are tolerable if I drink them in a certain way I have a little 1oz shot glass. I set an alarm to go off every 10 minutes. It goes off and I do the shot and follow it with Water. Sure it takes like 3 hours but I don't have to deal with the taste. The isopure's are 190 cal for 40 grams of protein. . -
I agree. I had my surgery 4/22 and each day gets better. I wanted to die on 4/22. The nurse asked me on a scale of 1-10 how much it hurt and I said 400. I'm a bit melodramatic. But I woke up in recovery puking and my head was swimming. She came back later and asked -now how do you feel. And I said I still want to die. Today...only 3 days later and I feel great. Or well- great in comparison. I'm still using pain meds to get around. When I was you on day 2 I still needed a lot of rest but it really helped to get up and walk when I could. I'm actually surprised they sent you home already. I'd think they'd want to keep you on IV liquids. On the bright side at least you can sleep in your own room and not be woken by people every hour. Be sure to get all your liquids in. I set an alarm on my phone and every 10 minutes I drink one ounce of Isopure or Water. I found that warming it up made my stomach tolerate it more. Have you taken a shower yet? That really helped me feel better. Keep us posted on how you're doing. It really does get better each day.
