  1. Personally, I can't lose weight at 1200 calories, I just maintain. I would talk to your nut if you are concerned. Also, do you log your food and exercise in MFP or something like that? Your net calories after exercise may be much lower than 1200. Do be careful as the first 6 months I believe are supposed to be your prime time to get the most amount of weight off. Also, WLS diets and regular diets are different, so be careful about using standard weightloss logic after getting your sleeve. Can you go to nut classes or workshops at your doctor's office?
  2. Go to the doctor, honey. Also, you've got to keep up with your water and protein or you will do yourself real damage. Some vitamins need fats to be absorbed so any of those aren't getting taken in, no matter how many you take. There are lots of old posts in here about how to get the water down. You aren't the only one who has trouble getting it in. Also, you should try some different shakes so you get one you like. It will help so much getting them down. Vitalady.com has single serving packets of dozens of types so you can try different flavors and brands. Good luck
  3. Blooming, my nut and dr said no caffeine because 1) it makes you hungry and 2) it dehydrates you. When it's a struggle to get in even your minimum water, I guess caffeine just makes it worse. Other people may have alternative reasons for no caffeine. I've been working on giving up my caffeine habit so I'm off completely before surgery. I like green tea, too, and decaf green tea is nasty.
  4. I'm so glad this thread came up, since I was going to purchase the Bariatric Advantage vits. I currently use the Trader Joe's chewables and have no problem with them. Guess I'll stick with those but take them twice a day.
  5. Kapu, are you able to get all your protein in? How many grams are you shooting for daily?

    420?

Getting back to the original post, can you make tea? That would alleviate the smoking/healing potential issues that some people brought up, and get your fluids in.

    Doubters

Congrats on getting your date. You go and keep on being a proud, healthy girl!
  8. Yeah, making sure they don't give you morphine in your IV because it's routine could be an issue.
  9. I've had the (not) pleasure of several surgeries and hospital stays, and I have found that pain meds like vicodin, morphine, etc. make me very, very constipated. After my car accident in 2006 the constipation was so bad, I stopped the pain meds and went cold turkey and the constipation stopped. I have read a lot about people having terrible constipation after their VSG surgery and I'm thinking I will just suffer through the pain rather than subject myself to that again, given that my tummy is already going to be pretty unhappy after surgery. Please share your experience. Thanks.

    Sugar

You should still check with your nut though, all the doctors seem to be a little different.

    Pain

Lol, it could be right side. My main point was that it could be serious and she should see a doctor.

    Pain

sounds like it could be appendicitis, if it continues go see your doctor
  16. Thanks folks, this is encouraging. Looks like I'm not the only one who hates narcotic painkillers.

    MY 521LB LIFE part 3

    what a darling baby
  19. This is an interesting topic. As a pre-sleever, I really appreciate all the knowledge I get on these forums, and sure, the glamour stories are awesome. However, for me, the best stories are from people who have kept the weight off (the longer the better), not how fast they lost it.
  20. Walking is the best, I agree. I downloaded a great Android App called Accuped that makes your phone into a pedometer. It rocks! I find myself checking it all the time lol. I think it eats batteries, though.
  21. This is hilarious. You really brightened my day.
  22. Globe, I so heartily sympathize with you. I'm not in the same place, and goodness, you do have a major situation where you are located now, but I do have an interesting story. In my mid-30's I decided to go power blonde. I'm naturally medium brown. As soon as I went blonde, people treated me so differently, it was just bizarre. Men suddenly took much greater care of me, such as personally showing me where things were in the grocery store instead of saying, "it's in aisle 9." I also saw a huge difference in the way women treated me. They were rude! I mean, total strangers were actually rude to me. So weird! And I also couldn't get a job for months. I was in Technology at the time. I remember one job fair where a recruiter said to me, "you aren't really technical, are you?" I dyed my hair red and got a job a week later. No particular lessons from the blonde experiment, but I thought you'd find it interesting. And you blonde ladies out there, try a dark wig for 3 months and see how the other side lives! Good luck to you, Globe, and stay safe.
  23. really, you look great. Look at those collar bones!

    Touch Shyness

When you feel comfortable enough to try it, there are special massage techniques like myofascial and Rolfing that work on muscle memory that could be good for you, based on your last post.

    Week 2 whatcha eating?

Friends, be strong! From what I hear, the first 6 months are your best opportunity to get the most weight off and it's slower after that. Don't sabotage yourselves by not following doctor's orders when you have put so much into this. If you find yourself sliding, come online and the group will help you.
