  1. There are tons of posts on this you should search and some very good explanations of why it occurs. Be strong! I'm with you (sleeved 8/12) and we'll make it through. You can do it

    Greek Yogurt

Fat free and sugar free. There are a ton of brands. Also try Icelandic yogurt at Trader Joe's and Whole Foods, it's even higher protein than Greek.

    Feeling full!

I'm finding it really unpleasant. I used to look forward to meals and now I just want to skip them. Feeling full is so icky now.

    Breath?

My dr recommended Listerine strips and they really do help. Ketosis breath is just nasty, I agree.

    So discouraged

Chin up and back on track, you'll be fine. It's just the dreaded stall that most people go through. It will end eventually, just be strong. You can do it!

    Meal ideas

I was sleeved the 12th too, just started on soft foods and I've made plenty of mistakes! When I make a mistake, it either comes right back up and/or I'm miserable for an hour. Stuff that worked: Tuna salad Quail (make sure it's moist) Cottage cheese and yogurt Sweet potatoes Soft cooked cabbage Soft cooked carrots Seafood (haddock, catfish, shrimp, tilapia, it's all good) Beans, refried, mashed, whole, puréed etc Snow cones with sugar free syrup (a blessing on a hot day) Not so good: Cheesy Soups Melted cheese Soft Cooked spinach Soft Cooked broccoli Mashed white potato Good luck!

    New Activities

Volunteering someplace you enjoy (animal shelter, museum, zoo, etc.) is a great way to spend time with friends. I love tea time myself, which is just tea (no food). Game night is always a blast (cards, Scrabble, Monopoly, etc.). Book clubs are good, too.
  9. Believe me, you'll know it! I just started solids a few days ago and have vomited at least once every day because I overdid it, either eating too much or too fast. It's definitely a learning curve.
  10. Guess I fit into this category, too. Never thought of myself as a lightweight LOL. I think the weight loss could be different for those starting with lower BMI's. I started at 36. I am always in awe of the huge losses I see from people with higher starting BMI's. I've done all the math with my base metabolism, etc. and I can't see how I personally could lose more than 2-3 pounds of fat a week, maybe 10 lbs a month. I'm happy with that, though, the important thing is keeping it off. I'm so hoping this is the LAST time I have go on a diet and the sleeve + good eating habits + exercise will "cure" me for good.

    hard day

I sympathize. Full liquids just sucks, but eventually it's over. Baby yourself and pat yourself on the back for being strong. It will end soon and you'll be on to the next step.

    Artificial sweetners

I thought I heard somewhere that calorie free sweeteners still raise glycemic levels and your body treats it like a regular sugar except for adding fat. Anyone have any facts on that?

    Shakes

I used to like some of the shakes, including the Premier Protein, but now they all gross me out. I have to choke them down. I'm just over 2 weeks out and starting cottage cheese, Icelandic and Greek yogurt, bean purees, and other sources of soft protein to meet my minimums. I still choke down one shake in the morning. Blecchhhh!

    Beans and carbs

Personally, I love beans, lentils, split peas, etc. It's a great way to get protein and fiber and vitamins if you are vegetarian/vegan and if you like them, of course. If you don't like them, skip it LOL, there are other ways to get the same nutrients. I just think they are really tasty and I love how many different ways you can prepare legumes.

    Pickles?

I did this the other day. I worried that the vinegar would upset my tummy, but I took little sips and it was fabulous to have something sour and salty. Didn't have more than an ounce or so.

    How to use tofu.....

I like silken tofu cold with soy sauce or firm tofu served hot in pasta sauce (tomato sauces may be too much early on). It's also good heated with a touch of olive oil and herbs, salt and pepper. I love to throw it in Ratatouille. Looking forward to being able to eat that again.

    Two weeks full liquid stage

My dr and nut said when you are on full liquids, the ban on liquids during meals doesn't matter since the full liquid diet moves right through and don't hang around. Once we get to soft food we have to start with the no liquid during meals. That said, doctors vary, so I would ask your nut for clarification. I am supposed to keep to around 4 oz for soups, which is about what I do. Can't get much more down, unless it is broth.
  18. Ick. I am majorly annoyed and need to vent. My doctor's office requires the liquid diet (for two weeks post op) to include 3 to 4 protein shakes a day made from 3 scoops unflavored Beneprotein and half a packet of sugar free carnation instant breakfast. I'm at the end of day five and having trouble getting down one more disgusting drink. I spent a month trying all the protein out there and loaded up on the ones I liked. I was thinking, no prob, I can do this! Now I have to drink this nauseating concoction instead of the protein drinks I like. The nurse said I couldn't switch because if something came up, they need to know exactly what I've been having. Poor me! Play the violin......
  19. Yes, El Paso. I've tried switching to other proteins, since I figure it was better to have one they didn't like than be short on protein.
  20. Thanks, everyone. I'll try some of Gamergirl's soup recipes. I've been having soup, but mostly strained or blended vegs or beans. Haven't tried blending any protein. Can't wait for scrambled eggs, that's going to help. I'm even getting sick of Greek Yogurt.
  21. My dr had me on Bariatric chewable probiotics from the start. I think that helps. However, I noticed that after taking iron I was getting constipated, so I take a Colace on iron days. I also have puréed veg soup.
