  1. So no hair loss yet, but the other day I noticed that I was due to color my hair, which normally grows fast, and i had no roots after 6 weeks. Got it colored last right before my surgery. Weird! This happen to anyone else? Is this the precursor to hair falling out?

    Fiber supplement

Yes, the GasX strips have been a life saver. So glad to know about the fiber requirement based on caloric intake. I eat beans and also just started varying my protein shakes with hemp seed high fiber protein powder. That gives me fiber and a good alternative to whey protein.

    Is this normal?

I've heard that in Europe the doctors don't believe in protein shakes and put you on solid food as soon as you can take it. For me, I just followed my doctor's orders and all has been well, other than being sick of protein drinks. Wy jinx a good thing? I figure my doctor and nut know more about this than info. Tomorrow is 6 weeks. I'm soooo glad to be past the first month. I still find that softer foods like fish and cottage cheese sit better. Unfortunately, avocados do too!

    Crabmeat?

I had shrimp, tuna and other fish at 3 weeks with no problem.
  5. Yes, your chart is similar to mine. I set my goal for 800 but rarely even come close. I have noticed that this last week (week 5) my avg calories have gone up from 500 a day to around 650 a day. I can eat more things now, but still can't get in veggies or carbs other than an occasional tiny bite at the end of my protein.
  6. 2 weeks today and I'm so sick of protein shakes. I have a varied selection of different brands and flavors, I even got a range of SF Torani syrups, but it is like torture to get them down now. Hopefully will move to soft foods after my dr visit on Thursday and graduate to cottage cheese and blended soft meats. Anyone else in this boat? Suggestions?
  7. Today I tried a couple of drops of cinnamon oil to my chocolate shake and wow! The sharpness of the cinnamon overpowers the nasty gummy protein quality, but don't use more than a drop or two in an eight ounce cup. Use true cinnamon oil, not ground cinnamon. Yummy!
  8. I had them a lot early on. At 4 weeks I still get every few days.
  9. Green tea in the mornings for me, too. After dinner it's chamomile and peppermint to settle me before bed.

    Nuts, seeds, berries, greens

I'm bad . I ate some pistachios a few days ago (4 weeks). They are soft and I chewed them well. No problems at all. I wouldn't be so brave about almonds or other hard nuts, though. Will wait a bit for those.
  11. I had sashimi this weekend. Heaven! Went down easily, but could only eat 2 of the 5 pieces (largish pieces).

Too much food making me angry

This is such an interesting topic. I do eat out, but I usually share an entree with my DH or sons. They love that because I eat about 2-3 tablespoons and they finish the rest. I also like ordering appetizers or side dishes. One or two poached eggs ala carte works for me. Olive Garden has a newish "small plates" menu with a grilled chicken skewer that's around $3 or $4 and is perfect for a sleever (I still can only eat half of it at 4 weeks, but that's much better than wasting a whole dinner plate).

    CLOTHES, CLOTHES, CLOTHES

Dresses and "butterfly" tops work for me. Pants with drawstring waist. And thrift shops.
  15. She trims them too? Do they grow? ....just kidding
  16. I'm at 4 weeks, too, and this thread is encouraging. Thanks everyone for posting.
  17. I've lost 20 lbs and sagging already at 4 weeks. Tummy and arms are the worst. But, I'm 53, had two babies 20 years ago, and not the most athletic person in the world. I think young people bounce back much better than us old folks.

    Easy food for travel

Jif to-go cups. They have 2 tbl of peanut butter, low sugar, and 6 g of protein. PB2 peanut butter powder is easy to carry and you just mix with water to reconstitute. Non-refrigerated silken tofu is shelf stable. Have a wonderful vacation
  19. everyone is different, but personally, I could not have done it at 2 or 3 weeks. At 4 weeks, yes (and I would be as tired as the new mama after it was over LOL).

    Best and worst "compliments"

Wish I had junk in my trunk! I'm going from a big blob back there to flat LOL
  22. My dr said it was fine to take biotin supplements to help ward off hair loss (along with keeping my protein up) but I don't know what dosage to take.. Anyone out there take it with success? How much did you take? I'm 5'4 1/2" female over 50.
