    Sibling Rivalry

Oh honey, I feel for you. Remember, every body is different. If you lose slower your skin won't shrink as much and it will be easier to keep it off. You are learning a new lifestyle, being healthy, and doing well with your sleeve. Congrats to you for doing a great job! Your time to be in a size 10 or 8 will come, and you will be the one getting all the praise because your achievement is so much greater. Best wishes to you. We witches have to stick together
  3. I'll add to the list: meatballs (beef or turkey, low fat) Chili (with or without meat) Unflavored Kefir (Trader Joe's) very high in protein Icelandic yogurt (higher protein even than greek yogurt - Whole Foods) Low fat cheese A glass of nonfat milk before bed ....mmmmmm Hemp powder or seeds, chia seeds and the like added to soups and sauces My 10 calorie rule: a gram of protein should not "cost" more than 10 calories. For example, something with 100 calories must have at least 10 grams of protein. My best options are ones like low fat deli ham with 20 calories and 5 grams of protein per slice. I

    Fast Weight Gain :(

Also remember to eat your protein first in case you've gotten out of the habit, then veg, then starch. Are you drinking with meals or keeping to the 30 min before / 1 hr after rule? Good luck!
  5. My clinic has the same rules. When you are all healed up, for long term success grazing doesn't work for a lot of people and leads to overeating. That said, I'm in the same boat as you at 10 weeks. Takes me forever to eat protein, and I still eat a lot of soft foods and protein shakes. I almost never get to the veg or starch. I eat one little thing at a meal, then I eat a tiny snack two hour later, so I have 3 meals and 2 snacks. Even with that I am under 800 calories a day and couldn't eat any more. So, I'm going with what my body tells me. I can't stuff down enough at a meal to meet any sort of nutritional minimum, I have to snack. But, I don't graze continuously and a little snack (1 oz of nuts, a glass of milk, a cheese stick) lasts several hours.
  6. Just make them yourself. You can get those frozen molds for popsicles anywhere or online, or use a small glass with a spoon in it. Use unsweetened fruit juice or Water with a tiny drop of extract. You can also mix the juice and water half and half to make it less caloric. orange juice cherry juice water with mint extract grape juice skim milk with almond extract and a touch of cinnamon

    Insecure husbands?

    Try these http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2700826/ http://www.healthcentral.com/obesity/c/276918/148486/soar-necessarily/ http://www.aamft.org/imis15/Content/Consumer_Updates/Bariatric_Surgery.aspx http://www.obesityaction.org/educational-resources/resource-articles-2/weight-loss-surgery/relationship-challenges-before-and-after-weight-loss-surgery http://seattletimes.com/html/health/2015195540_bari02.html
  9. My clinic also will cancel surgery if you don't meet your goals. Since I was low BMI (36) I was order to not gain anything. Others had to lose a certain amount to shrink their liver before surgery. If you have gained weight, it adds complications to the surgery because your liver gets in the way of removing the stomach. Chin up and do what you need to do. Best of luck to you.
  10. Hi Jane, Enjoyed your post. If you get really bored you can take selfies and post them for us Is this Dr. Saucedo? I was thinking of going to him when I get done. Getting anything else interesting done while you are there? Facelift? Arms? Take care and quick healing to you.
  11. Has anyone tried green coffee extract to boost loss for slow losers? I saw this article http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/20064576 There does appear to be some success in studies with chlorogenic acid, found in green coffee, with weight loss. My resting BMR is only 1345 calories per my nut, the result of years of yoyo dieting. I would really like to to lose more than a pound or two a week. I do walk for exercise but with bad knees, arthritis, etc. it's not easy to burn more than a few hundred extra calories a day. I'm also off caffeine since presurgery.
  12. OK, last post and I'll leave this topic alone. After researching green coffee bean extract, it dawns on me that it works because it breaks up carbohydrate chains so that they don't become glucose. With little blood glucose, your body accesses fat stores for energy. Sounds great if you eat a lot of carbs, but we sleevers don't! We eat protein, so it's not going to help for speeding up weight loss. I suppose it might still work for lowering cholesterol and blood pressure, but it's not going to any help for slow losers (unless you are eating carbs and not getting in your protein).
  13. I found that pre-sleeve I would sabotage myself because my body wanted carbs or sugar, or whatever. Now, my body wants its Protein NOW and when I get my couple of ounces down, there is no room for anything else. In 3 hours or so, it wants protein again, nuts, soy nuts, yogurt, glass of milk, Jerky, refried Beans, etc. I still listen to my body but it's sure a different story these days. It wants its Water on time, too. I was a huge sugar eater/lots of candy prior, but now I can take it or leave it. If I do indulge (for old times' sake) I don't really enjoy it the way I used to (although Starbucks Skinny Mochas 12oz are pretty good!) I prefer savory things now. chips and salsa are a problem, though. I can get down 6 chips with salsa, but then I can't eat my protein, so my son has to keep me away from the chips and warn me that I won't have room for the entree.

    What full feels like now

This is a hard one. It's easy to describe what one bite too many feels like! I'm still working on full. My brain has not yet caught up with Sleevette. It rejects the idea that I am full on two tablespoons of food. I'm celebrating this week because I can get down 3 oz of protein at a time (have done it twice, verrryyy sloooowly).

    REGRETTING.....

I feel for everyone here who is still having problems. I regretted it the first month but kept hanging in there because of all the support I got here. It gets better for most people, but there are risks for every surgery and it sucks if you are the 2% or whatever the statistic is for problems. Emend is a great anti-nausea med (used for cancer patients) and Reglan helped me a lot with acid backing into my esophagus. Every body is different. Hang in there and best wishes to everyone. Let us know how things turn out.
  16. Thanks for posting, more people need to hear from successes like you!
  17. You might drink a little extra water to flush it out, but I'm sure you'll be fine.
  18. What weight did you start at? Congrats!
  19. I'm 10 weeks, haven't been craving anything really. Heavy carbs or fatty/creamy/buttery things are too much for me, can't handle more than one bite or two then I feel ill. I'd mentally love to eat pizza, but the thought of actually eating makes me feel ill. Wish I could get more veggies down. They agree with me (cooked ones at least), but I just never get more than a bite after my protein, too full. I have found that ice cream, roasted pumpkin seeds, and alcohol (all no-nos) go down just fine I can't stomach carbonation at all, not even the tiniest sip.

    Peppermint or Wintergreen?

This is correct. If you are having any trouble with acid backing up into your esophagus (many sleevers do), then maybe trade mint for ginger or chamomile tea. I used to drink a lot of peppermint tea, but have since stopped. http://umm.edu/healt...herb/peppermint
  21. Thanks, Bell. Anyone who loses 15 or 20 lbs a month wouldn't need it with the sleeve. The effects on triglycerides and cholesterol, as well as A1C were very interesting.

    Sushi

Sashimi for me, went down well at 3 weeks.
  23. Check Gamergirl's recipes in the search function.
  24. Happy vacation and great post. I think Mexican food is the easiest cuisine to eat healthy, for me anyway. Have a wonderful time!
  25. It's probably because you are very attractive, combined with your height, as others have mentioned. You know it is unhealthy, so bravo for you for making a decision to change it.
