I have a prescription for them and do the shots myself or my hubby gives them. Easy.

Hi fellow chileheads, I'm in NM too, went with Dr. Acosta in El Paso, same practice as Dr. Lara. My insurance also required a center of excellence, and Del Sol is a great clinic. The staff is very knowledgable and helpful, and the hospital stay very comfortable. The doctors go to Abq monthly, but know that if you need to be seen more quickly you can get appointments much more easily in El Paso. I've done that once or twice.

No, you are a princess, says so right next to your name.....

To the newer folks: This is a public forum, hence, if you post here be prepared to answer for what you have said. As others have said, treat people as you would like to be treated, and if you dish it out, be prepared to take it. If you can't deal with that then public posting is probably not the best pastime for you. Now, back to the food porn.....

Remember to subtract grams of fiber from the carbs to get your net carbs. That makes legumes a better snack than you might think.

I'm a Fireball fan myself

When did you have an alcoholic beverage?
NMJG replied to guthsj's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think everyone is a bit different. I can drink a 5 oz glass of wine over an hour, no problems. I'm at 12 weeks. -
I was weak, ate Halloween candy. Luckily, Sleevette came to the rescue and I'm still under 1000 calories for the day. It's almost 9 and I'm eyeing the turkey meatballs in the freezer...I think that's a good sign.

NMJG replied to UK Cathy's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I second this. How many grams of fat do you average per day? -
Maybe a Diet Swiss Miss hot cocoa? Only 25 calories. Nice at bedtime.

Reasons to be cheerful!

Congratulations! Well done. On another topic, How is your reflux doing these days? I do hope it's better. -
Protein drink quandry...advice?
NMJG replied to Teachamy's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I bought Isopure drinks on Amazon in 8 oz bottles (combo pack of punch and grape). I find 8 oz much easier to choke down, but it is less protein than the big bottles. -
Has anyone purchased the Big Book on Gastric Sleeve Surgery ?
NMJG replied to nomorecupcakes's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
That can happen even with great nutrition. It's a response to the stress your body undergoes with the surgery. Some do and some don't. Making sure you get in enough protein is a big part of it, but even with that some people lose it. -
People think I am sick!

I like your mom! -
Do you look older since you lost weight?
NMJG replied to LynRN's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't know if I look any younger, but I sure feel that way, so that's all that matters -
People think I am sick!
NMJG replied to jmcguire55's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Jealousy. Post some before and after pix here and you'll get some affirmation. -
I got the "Lightly seasoned" and thought they were kind of boring, so I might try the more heavily flavored ones next time. The crunch is light and they kind of disintegrate when you chew them up. That's likely why they don't bother Sleevette.

Somebody? ANYBODY? Are my calories too high?
NMJG replied to outwithbenjiboi's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Looks to me like you are doing well. Remember, sleevers that are "more experienced in life" don't lose as fast as the young folks on here, and those with lower starting BMI's don't tend to lose as fast as those with higher BMI's, and last, women don't lose as fast as men. Your BMI at surgery was only 36. I will say that at 2 weeks I was only able to get down 500 calories max. I now keep under 800 calories at 12 weeks, which is easy to do. You are doing fine, keep it up. The only thing I would change is to try and get in at least 64 oz. of liquids. It does make a difference. -
Stupid Q Do you need a passport for TJ?
NMJG replied to rredrruby87's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Yes, you must have a passport or passport card to travel to Mexico or Canada, if you expect to get back across the border, that is. As Cindy said, the law changed some years ago. http://travel.state.gov/travel/cis_pa_tw/cis/cis_970.html -
I've never ordered from a kid's menu for that very reason. I usually order a side or appetizer. My kids used to order chicken and broccoli kids meal at Olive Garden, don't know if they still offer that. I usually order the chicken speidini small plate.

First month is the worst. It gets better, really. Chin up, you'll get through it.

This is going to be my saddest birthday ever
NMJG replied to Disabledaccount's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My birthday was a couple of weeks after my surgery. I had a massage, facial and pedicure. It was much better than cake -
From what I've seen on this board, the people who don't lose or gain back frequently eat slider foods and/or drink their calories in coffee drinks and such. They may also make poor food choices in general, but you can control these things.
