  1. Yes, I have raised my fat intake considerably from the 30 grams I followed originally. New research shows that higher fat (half your calories from fat) provides more satiety (important as you progress down your sleeve road and hunger starts to come back). Higher fat has a lot of positive health benefits, just google high fat/low carb eating. Higher fat diets to not necessarily give you heart disease or high cholesterol. The old "eating fat makes you fat" is not really true. I see that you are newly sleeved. After you have been doing this a while you will likely find that you want/need to change it up, and that's fine. Your body will change so it makes sense to alter your diet to suit. The key thing is keeping Protein levels good. I take teh majority of my fats in the form of nuts, nut butters, seeds, chia, cheese, 2% milk and yogurt, olives, and a variety of oils. I don't eat a lot of dairy butter, but I don't avoid it, either. I have it maybe once or twice a week. I might eat bacon on occasion, too. Some people go to 5:2, some people follow Atkins/low carb. Not too many people still do the old low fat/high carb diet, but some do. Different strokes for different folks.
  2. From the album: NMJG

Loss after 6 months, now a size 10, 153 lbs.
  3. You also might have been in a stall. Good luck and let us know how it works for you. You started with similar stats to mine. When you start with a relatively lower BMI like us (under 40), we don't often lose fast like the higher BMI folks. But it does eventually come off. Also, the closer you are to goal the slower it goes and you aren't far from goal at all. You have lost 50 lbs in 3 months, so you must be doing something right.
  4. If you want another list to compare to, here's mine. Just a tad different from Rev's. I log everything, good and bad. Keeps me honest. 3 meals a day and 2 Snacks (morning and afternoon). Roughly 800 calories a day (I'm 53 and don't have a fast metabolism, so I don't lose at 1000 or 1200 calories a day). I shoot for around 200 calories per meal and 100 calories per snack. If I eat light at one meal I might make it up at the next. I do have the occasional glass of wine (bad bad!) 60-70g Protein (this was 80g when I started, but I've lost enough now that my protein needs are lower) 50g carbs (I try for less but it just doesn't happen LOL) 35-40g fats 64 oz Water Vitamins: B12 injection monthly Multivitamin chewable daily Calcium citrate/vitamin D chewables 500 mg daily Iron (don't take it within 2 hrs of any calcium)

    quick and easy foods

I'm thinking it was Tyson grilled chicken breasts. They have them in both the fridge and freezer sections at the store...
  6. Seela, that is so awesome! Congrats! It's the little things like that.... they really make your day..
  7. Yeah, I had a pizza moment, too. I love good pizza. Just can't do more than a half slice eaten verrry slowwwly anymore, which is great (although my bad self is still ticked off about it).
  8. Me too. Size 10 and the butt bones are starting to hurt. When I was a size 8 10 yrs ago I didn't have it, so I think it is loss of muscle, although I never had much junk in the trunk to start with. More exercise that focuses on glutes would be the ticket, I suspect.
  9. Don't compare yourself to others! It is a recipe for disaster. Just do your best, it will come off. I'm down to losing a pound a week UGH! At my best I only lost 2 lbs. a week. Comparisons will only make you dissatisfied with your progress (spoken by one green with envy when I read about people who lose 3-4-5 lbs. a week). Look at your last month's average loss and try using that to project your summer goal weight.

    quick and easy foods

Pre-cooked/grilled chicken strips are easy to add to anything. I usually have pre-cut fresh vegetables around, easier to just throw in a dish. Stir-frys are very easy - toss in the cut up vegs and meat or tofu with some vegetable oil. After cooking on high heat add some soy sauce (stay away from sugary teriyaki sauces). I have canned Beans on hand - easy to make chili or Indian chana (chickpea dish) Lentils cook relatively quickly - throw a bag in a pot with 8 cups of Water, carrot, celery and bay leaf. Good for crockpots, too. Ham steaks cook up fast, just pan fry or broil with thyme sprinkled on top. Add some microwaved broccoli or green beans on the side. Spaghetti squash (just nuke it then scoop it out with a fork), add Pasta sauce (lower carb/lower calorie brand - read the labels - some are very high!) Add some precooked turkey meatballs (in your freezer section) and parmesan cheese. Fast and very tasty. Personally, I mostly stay away from cream soups when trying to lose weight (except when I was doing liquids). Lots of calories and not much nutrition. Just my opinion.
  11. Yep, it gets better. It really sucks the first few months. The further out you are, the easier it is to eat, which is good and bad news
  12. When you get a little further down the road, you can buy dried edamame (Crunchamame) which is a great snack. High protein and salty/crunchy but not bad on the sleeve.
  13. Sending hugs. WLS can open doors that we've been banging on for years. It can make us happier if health and normal size are the things we needed. What won't it solve? Self hatred and lack of self respect, unhealthy relationships, addictions, ignorance, prejudice, and true mental illness. Therapy isn't a bad thing. Give it a try and see if it helps. Only you can say if it is what you need. Shedding the weight may be all you need.
  14. I felt like sh#t the first month. I am amazed you are on a treadmill already, good for you! That said, do what you can and don't over-do it so that you won't keep it up. 15 minutes is fine. Keep it up and add a little more every week. By 3 months you will be feeling so much better and will be amazed at how much you can do.

told I can't be on a vegetarian diet.

It is very hard to be 100% vegan or vegetarian during the first 6 months of the sleeve. I could not do it and get in enough Protein, however it is becoming easier the further out I am. I always include non-meat Proteins, but I did have to have at least one meat/fish or whey or dairy item every day to meet protein minimums. Vegan protein ideas: Amazing Meals protein powders - hemp protein and pea protein Nutiva Hemp Protein powder (unflavored) Lots of Beans lol. Edamame, black beans, lentils, split peas, northern white beans, garbanzos, Nuts (peanuts, almonds, pistachios), nut butters Soy products (tofu, seitan, tempeh, TVP, soy cheese). There is soy protein powder but I don't care for it. Other: green peas, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, quinoa, chia seeds I also purchased a number of Low Carb products from Netrition (flour, baking mix, flat bread, bagels) that have very high protein and low carbs. You might take a look and see if anything appeals to you.
  16. I've found that the best thing it make sure everything is logged. Tomorrow, when you are feeling better, take a look at your log. It will motivate you to have a better day and stay on track. Forgive yourself and consider it a learning experience. It happens to all of us.
  17. At 8 weeks I ate sashimi and miso soup and edamame. Even had a touch of ginger pickle on the sashimi. No rice, noodles, salad, teriyaki (sugars), tempura or other stuff like that this early out. I do eat salad now. You will be amazed at how little sashimi it takes to fill you up now. Cheap Date.

    Can't Get Motivated to Exercise

OK, I went to the gym and I really did feel better! I even went for a walk afterwards because it is such a pretty day today. My weight routine is 6 weeks long. This is my last week before my torturer (oops, I mean Trainer) changes up my program again, so everything is about as easier as it gets. Next week I doubt I'll be so cheerful!

    Am I stretching my sleeve?

Fiddleman, when is the best time to to test out eating salad? Im almost 8 weeks....i love it an miss it....also, when do most people begin eating leafy greens like cooked spinach and kale? Thanks! Shel I'm not Fiddle, either, but it was 4 months for me with small amounts of raw foods. I gradually built up. Have raw veg/fruit almost daily now at 6 months. I had a horrible dumping event with a couple of raw strawberries at 10 weeks out. Made me cautious. Cooked greens I had at 3 months with no problem. I just couldn't eat a lot of it.

    Am I stretching my sleeve?

I noticed last week when I was ill and returned to liquids for 2 days that my sleeve seemed to shrink. Once I went back to regular foods, it seemed like I couldn't eat as much as before the two liquid days. Not a bad thing to try for a few days if you think your sleeve is stretching a tad. That said, I can eat more salad volume wise than I thought I should, too. I agree, it shrinks down once you ingest it. It's the blue cheese crumbles, carrot bits, and other toppings that fill me up with salad.

    Can't Get Motivated to Exercise

Oh, Lumps, you can do it! It really makes a difference. You've done so amazingly well so far. Make the most of it! You know the drill. Just do it, girlfriend Maybe changing up the time of day? I can't get myself going in the morning at all. OK, now you can motivate me. I'm supposed to leave for the gym right now and instead I'm writing this LOL.
  22. I've been researching and found some new alternatives to surgery: radio frequency treatments that stimulate collagen. The brand names are Viora and Thermage. Plastic surgeons and dermatologists typically offer services in most larger cities. The prices really vary, so shop around. I found a deal on Living Social for 3 lower face treatments or 2 tummy treatments for $225. Some doctors charge $400-$500 per treatment, though. The manufacturer websites recommend 4-8 treatments for best results, and maintenance treatments twice a year afterwards. The pictures online are pretty impressive in regards to loose skin. My saggy jowls look significantly better after just one treatment, and I have two more to go. May try the tummy treatment after that.

    Vomited vitamins

Bariatric vitamins are disgusting. My doctor's office prescribes them but I have much better luck with the following: Trader Joe's High Potency Multi chewable Kirkland (Costco) chocolate calcium citrate chews with vitamin D or Trader Joe's calcium citrate Injectable Vitamin B12 (prescription from my doctor, inject them at home once a month, very easy, no pain) Vitamin C Ester (not ascorbic acid so no tummy problems), Kirkland/Cosco

    When did you stop?

At 6 months out, I still have Protein shakes around 4x a week. Otherwise it is difficult to get in enough protein and get in vegetables and Fiber foods. I know many vets who continue to drink Protein Shakes even after a year. They aren't necessarily something you want to give up. If you are sick to death of them (we all go through that phase) keep trying different brands. I currently use unjury protein chicken broth (sometimes I add seasoning or sliced mushrooms or a little milk), Chike coffee Protein powder (alone or with a tablespoon of cocoa powder) and Amazing Meal hemp/pea protein shakes, along with the occasional Premier Protein shake or Muscle Milk if I am really desperate.
