    Apparently I disappointed someone...

I want a give-a-shitometer. Do they come in hot pink? I bet if we marketed those they would be a big hit. Sorry, mrs. r, didn't mean to go off topic, but that was really too good to resist.
  2. Carlotta, I am with you. i visit family for a week or two several times a year and it always messes me up. I don't get in enough Water or Protein, I drink too much alcohol, and my carbs are too high. In March I only lost 2 lbs because of my week back home. I didn't get in enough exercise, either. We need a good strategy to deal with this.
  3. Try unjury chicken broth flavor. It is a great alternative to the sweet shakes.
  4. Very interesting. I wish they had more data, and I wish they had data on people starting with BMIs lower than 40. Regain is my #1 fear.
  5. Hi Y'all, I am curious how many people that are 6+ months out have found things they cannot tolerate, and what those are. I know there are a lot of people that can tolerate anything, but I'd like to hear from those who have found problem foods. I have found that strong cinnamon (like Good Earth tea) and sour candies like sour gummy worms (yeah, I know, I shouldn't be eating them anyway) cause actual pain in my stomach within a couple of minutes of eating/drinking it. I like sour stuff and cinnamon, so I'm a bit sad to give these up, but every time I try I really regret it, so they are off the list. I can eat pickles and drink Chick Fil A diet lemonade just fine (lemon juice, splenda, water) because it isn't terribly sour. However, some of the other diet lemonades (made from citric acid, not lemons) are not pleasant at all on Sleevette. I take Omeprozole every night to control acid. What's been your experience?
  6. Interesting that ice cream is popping up here a lot. Unfortunately, not one of my problem foods. Now, if ice cream, sugar and chocolate disagreed with me, all would be well
  7. Chad, I can't add anything that hasn't already been said, but I wanted to show my support for you. Sending hugs.

    Repetitive and Circuitous Topics....

Oh, I'm delighted with this thread. Something different! Personally, I've been enthralled recently with kindle's fecal transplant and the thread on sunlight in the early morning keeping you slim. But I've missed you, Revs. Your witty banter always brings a smile to my face. Let the new topics begin! Oh, regarding food addiction, Laura-ven started a very good thread on that topic a while ago if anyone is interested in searching for it. I must say, I do miss her feistiness on here.
  9. Came upon this today, thought I'd share with y'all. It shows the number of WLS surgeries in the US over the past 3 years. 179,000 WLS surgeries in 2013. http://asmbs.org/2014/03/estimate-of-bariatric-surgery-numbers/ Interesting how RnY and revisions have stayed fairly stable, but Band and Sleeve have traded spots.

    Is there a slower loser?

Kmo, I don't want to highjack this thread, so I'll pm you.
  11. Of course it gets better. It is a stair step progress, not linear. Stalls can last a couple of weeks to 4 or more, but it will pass. Stay strong and come here to vent and be petted. Stalls suck, no doubt about it. Sending hugs.
  12. How interesting! Guess I'll make more of an effort to take my walk in the morning instead of the afternoon. There seem to be so many facets of weight loss and maintenance. It's no wonder we were all overweight. Wonder what they will figure out next, type of music you listen to?
  13. Great thread. I have read about this procedure, so curious to hear how it turns out. Thanks for sharing with us and keep us informed on your oppootunity Sorry, couldn't resist....

    Old Feelings

Terri, I feel for you. We've all been there. Sending hugs. Eventually you will see pictures of yourself and not realize at first that the skinny b in the picture is you
  15. This is so interesting. There appear to be few to no similarities in our collective experience with this. Bizarre! Well, we always say every body is different with the sleeve, and this just proves it again. I wish I had an ice cream problem, but oh, no, ice cream and Sleevette like each other just fine.....

    Is there a slower loser?

Egg, I'm glad to hear it it's picking up for you. I was not a quick loser either, being post menopause and with a 36 BMI to start with. Some tricks I have for picking up the pace a bit: Don't sit for more than an hour. Get up and walk around for 5 minutes at least once an hour. It's a pain, but it really helps. Walk every single day, even if only for 15 or 30 minutes. Two 30 minute walks a day or even four 15 minute walks a day helps a lot. If you haven't already, try altering your combination of carbs, fats and protein. I switched to very low carbs, about 40-50% fats, and 40% protein. Some people are just more sensitive to carbs than others. Good luck to you
  17. Good for you! That's awesome!
  18. I wish I had that problem, BKLYNgal. Unfortunately I can eat a brownie or small square of cake Banana bread......yummmmm.....sigh

    Second Thoughts

Corkiseg, if you are having doubts, I would say don't do it. While I personally am thrilled with my sleeve, my own opinion is that WLS is like marriage - if you have doubts, hold off. You can always do it later. Unlike a marriage, there is no divorce from the sleeve. You better be pretty sure it is what you want to do and you are very aware of the risks and requirements to both lose and to keep the weight off long term. Good luck to you however you choose.
  20. Stay off the scale! Don't get back on it for 2 weeks. Let yourself heal up a bit and stop being so hard on yourself. You just had major surgery, for goodness sakes. Do try and get your liquids in, it will help with healing. Try and walk around even if it hurts, you will heal faster if you are up and about rather than just laying there. Feel better soon

    Down 100 Pounds

Good lord, that's amazing fast! Good for you! (says to self "I hate men and their ability to lose fast...grumble grumble grumble")
  22. There are several types of these new treatments. I tried it and wasn't too impressed, but then I didn't do 8 treatments, either, which they recommend. Fairly pricey. I'm going for surgery when I can. Thermage (uses RF) Viora (uses RF) Youtube video on using lasers
  23. I'd take care of this sooner rather than later. While you will "go" much less frequently now (you aren't eating any solids), two weeks is too long. IMHO I'd stay away from the fruit juice, it's just empty calories and a real laxative will work much better. Try Milk of Magnesia, Senna, Dulcolax or similar. Calling your doctor is a good idea. Are you still on pain killers? They are terrible on constipation.
