  1. I rhymed but used bad grammar lol. Finally got around to it: http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/topic/78280-tijuana-vsg-dr-kelly-and-me/
  2. I had my surgery 12 days ago, I feel good but I imagine it will be a while before I wear jeans. How long postop did it take before you wore jeans?
  3. All of my postop weight loss doesn't include the gain either. I just totally wrote it off!
  4. Oh yah! When I weighed myself post op after losing 11 lbs pre op 7 days of starving I was MAD. Don't worry, since 4/16 when I started the pre op I've lost exactly 30lbs. 19 of that is post op, but the entire 11lbs came back before it went away! It's just water!
  5. Great Explanation Serendipity! Where did you get your scale?
  6. You aren't 2 weeks yet because my surgery was the 22nd and I'm 2 weeks exactly today. Don't get ahead of yourself That being said I've lost 19lbs post op. I'm also a higher BMI 49ish at surgery and have always lost weight pretty quick. I think that makes a big difference.

    Left side pain

I put a word into the surgeon just minutes ago, but sometimes it's nice to hear a few "me toos" I was thinking about incisions too but it's clear over on my far left side, a good 3 inches horizontally from any incision, probably 6-7 inches away from the incision it would be in line with.

How does it feel to be full?

I was lumping satiated/full together and thanking of the eating too much as stuffed. I think I got it yesterday. I was eating some ricotta and I measured out 2oz. Didn't even come close. I just felt like I didn't want to eat anymore, and honestly I rarely felt that preop. I did not push it
  9. Ok, I'm just starting really mushy purées or full liquids is more like it, and I was wondering how it feels to feel full. I asked my lovely coordinator earlier and she had a neat description. I know it will feel different and I'm not about to push it since I'm only measuring 2oz per meal and leaving the rest to liquids. I'm just curious how you would describe the "full feeling" 6 weeks out or longer.....
  10. I've found if you don't praise a select few surgeons on here that you are immediately suspect. My review disappeared after a few days. Thanks for the info, this is the self pay AND Mexico forum.....not just for MX. I hope you have great results. I've very glad I went to TJ but hey, 12.5k isn't bad for the states at all. I had originally looked at surgeons in the states before I found a very experienced Dr I was comfortable with.
  11. I have no clue. It took me a long time to write it.

    Family Support

My thin brother asked why I didn't just diet and exercise. Oh geez, never thought of that. They came around and my mom who was my support person was super impressed with TJ and Florence/Oasis after retiring as a RN after almost 30 years in the states. She was super impressed with me having my surgeon's cell number. That just doesn't happen in our health care system lol!

    my experience with dr Garcia

Glad you had a great experience! Congratulations! I had a different Dr but had pain meds and Zofran around the clock. You did need to ask the nurse for them. The nurses treat all the patients the same regardless of Dr. I had ice chips the second day until my leak test, but that's because I got the upgraded leak test at Hospital Angeles at no charge. I could have done the barium swallow at Florence and saved money. Not gonna lie, I snuck apple juice. Just a tiny bit lol. Congrats again, and welcome to being a sleevster!

    Wearing Jeans again.

Lol, my incisions are high too but I'm short waisted. I bought soooo many maxi dressed, planning on taking them to the seamstress every month for a fitting instead of buying new clothes constantly.
  15. I was nauseated only for 12 hours, never vomited, and have lost 15 lbs in 12 days post op. You'll be so excited!!!!

    Wearing Jeans again.

Lol, I've had a bra on since my release from the hospital but I'm looking at my jeans like-Nah!

    Pain Mediction

I was given all IV pain meds. All NSAIDS. My antibiotics, PPI and pain meds were all IV until I left the hospital. One the second night I had a headache and they gave me a shot of something stronger. I had 2 shots of heparin in my abdomen to prevent blood clots (he's very for preventing blood clots, they do this in the states in large patients also). I was also given the Mexican tordol sublingual for pain after. I only took it here and there.

    I can't pick a Dr! Help!

I used Dr Kelly. Loved him. Olivia, there is nothing Almeter hospital has that Oasis/Florence doesn't in regards to Bariatrics. It is comparable to a small town hospital in the states. It was between Dr Kelly and Dr Aceves for me. Even if you end up in florence you could spend another night in the hospital for 500 if you wish and still save 2700. That would go for Dr Garcia also, but I wanted the most experienced. I paid $5500 and saved the extra 3k for a vacation June 1 I liked the fact that he served in the armed forces, trained in the States and has almost 7,000 surgeries. The statistics show the more surgeries a surgeon has the less complications are likely. Good luck with whoever you decide, and make sure they are a member of FACS and the American Society of Bariatrics ect. They have done vigorous research on the Drs for you.

    Dr. Garcia vs. Dr. Aceves?

I had Dr Kelly, but that doesn't change your nurses. My nurse got my IV in first try and I am horrible to find a vein in. Also, if your deciding factor is how long you could stay in the hospital you are welcome to stay in Florence for another night for $500. I originally planned to do that if needed but the morning of the second day I was like get me outta here! Loved it but I felt great and wanted to explore TJ a bit etc.
  20. I need to find a timeshare or trade that someone likes living in FL in the summers and here with the 2ft of snow in the winter haha! Not gonna happen. I love FL Sept-May!!!!
  21. My husband ordered pizza, mini pepperoni rolls and cheese sticks. Probably my favorite bad meal. My mouth watered but I wasn't really hungry. Milk and protein shakes REALLY helped. I don't know how your surgeon suggests food but I was allowed 4oz of milk on days 8 and 9 then onto protein shakes. It was the first sense of fullness I've felt.
  22. No sugar added Luigis Italian ice. Ugh so good and better than Popsicles. Oddly enough I've discovered my local hospital has amazing beef broth. Go figure...
  23. You are welcome! It's a tough stage to get through! Well sorta, you probably aren't hungry.

    Immediate food nausea.

Thank you, so basically you are saying this could happen at any time and it's just a part of healing? I went from perfectly fine to so grossed out and sick in like 5 seconds. I'll be careful where I try out new stuff!
  25. Ok, I've managed to make it through the liquid phase and add in protein shakes....still love the ones I loved before the surgery. I was told to add in 4 oz of milk day 8 and 9 before I started protein and it went great. So today I went out to buy my favorite non-homogenized grass fed milk and was craving it and going to have 4oz. I took 2 drinks and immediately ran to the bathroom. I thought of all the happy thoughts I could and sipped on some apple juice til I was in the clear. What if I would have been out in public? Any suggestions when it hits this hard?
