  1. try www.bjsbariatrics.com they have Syntrax Nectar shakes that you can buy as a sample pack. They are on sale right now. I really liked the Apple, Grapefruit and Iced tea. They mix with water so they are more...'fruity' than 'milky'. Hope this helps
  2. While I was in Florence Hospital I was given a bag of fluid that didn't have MY name on it. Fortunately is was just regular 'fluids' and it was the girl across the hall from me that I have gotten to know very well. I noticed that she had more bags of fluids on her IV pole each day than I did. It was an antibiotic that I only got ONE time that I keep noticing in her IV. I asked to have my records checked to see how often I got it they said more than once. I Disagree! I only sabot in my pole one time. My mom is with me and she said the same thing. Now that we're back at the hotel I am required to take antibiotics in pill form. It was Cefalexin- within 30 minutes I blew up in hives and a rash on my arms and torso. My ear canals were swollen shut and my face was swollen. I called the on call Dr and they had the pharmacy send up an antihistamine-it cured all the symptoms. So now the on call Dr. comes to remove my staples. Mind you AFTER the other girl-you would think I would be a priority. Anyway the on call Dr tells me to continue to take the Cefalexin because they don't want to change my antibiotics and mess up my system!!!!! Seriously!!! Oh just keep taking the antihistamine with it. So I'm supposed to take this crap and get on a plane and worry that I will go into anaphylactic shock!!!! Um...yea... no!!! But do I want to get an infection??? No!!! What the hell!!!???!!!

    Pissed off and scared

I am fine now. The new antibiotics that I had to demand to have were just fine. it happens-no long term issue and it's over. My advice in regards to my IV bag being wrong and nothing else, for ANYONE going to ANY hospital is to ask what meds you are going to given and make sure they are given to you. I honestly DO NOT think that I was given the appropriate antibiotics while in the hospital. Again I am fine now, so far so good anyway. I realize that his can happen in NAY hospital in the world not just Mexico! Doing 'your homework' and researching Dr's and hospitals is great but you can never foresee an error from anyone at anytime! I have no hard feelings, I just wish it didn't happen. Enough said. Now if I could just get all this protein in my belly:)

    Feeling good

Awesome, great results, you look wonderful!
  5. I am the one that posted the pissed off and scared... I had no choice in my hospital - originally it was supposed to be Mi Hospital and THEY changed it to Florence- said it was an upgrade, a better hospital without any extra charges- LUCKY ME! Ha! I have no way to compare the 2 hospitals. All the pics I saw of Florence are not of the bariatric floor. They had to be another part of the hospital. Dr. Garcia , the anesthesiologist Mark and Eduardo from Ready4a change are Great!!! The hotel and the coordinator at the hotel, Irene ...great! But all the in-betweens-Not so much!

And as far as I knew I had no allergies. I don't take many antibiotics on a normal basis. And I did look at each IV that came into my room. The one that was put in with a different persons name was the 'usual fluids' in the big bag -thought nothing of it until morning when I noticed the wrong name on the bag.

And PS- the pharmacies won't just give you anything without a prescription. Pain meds and muscle relaxers yes- antibiotics no! At least at the one we went to. I wasn't necessarily going to get something that MY Dr didn't prescribe to me for a new antibiotic.

I'm not a nurse but I'm in the medical field and I argued with the on call nurse until she agreed to give me something else to be delivered to me. Mom and I walked to the pharmacy and spoke to someone who had nothing to do with my situation and he said ' the antibiotics they gave you at the hospital were not EXACTLY the same as pill form PLUS in the hospital they gave a histamine with your meds so you would have seen a reaction.' Although thinking back there was a night that my blood pressure was abnormally high and my face and neck were so red but not itchy. The nurses that day were 24 hr shift nurses and didn't speak English. They said, it's ok it's ok'. On a more positive note I took my new antibiotics 50 minutes ago and I'm fine. Problem solved. The pharmacist told me the new one they were giving is better anyway. Once per day for five days. Levofloxacin.
  9. Being sleeved by Dr. Garcia at Florence hospital tomorrow. Everyone here at the Marriott has been great. Samuel the driver was very nice, Irene the coordinator is a pleasure to speak with and the staff here at the hotel are very helpful. Anxious for tomorrow to be over!

    Women HELP

I haven't had my surgery yet (it's in 2 days) but my friend got her period right after her surgery also (twice in 1 month) and they told her it was because of the stress of the surgery. Hope this helps and you are okay.

    Muscle milk light

Most GNC stores will let you taste a pre-made shake before you buy it. Lean Shake Vanilla and Chocolate are yum-don't care for the strawberry but didn't have to spend the money to find out:)
  19. I would get a passport card in you live in the US. It's cheaper and allows you to go into Canada, Caribbean, Bermuda and Mexico at border crossings. In a few months you won't look like your $135 passport so why spend the extra money. Passport cards are $55
  20. Has anyone filled out any paperwork In MX Florence hospital regarding NO BLOOD POLICY? No need to comment if you haven't. I asked Alma at Ready4aChange if they have this type of paperwork and she said yes. Just wondering if anyone has ACTUALLY filled it out.

    He says the meanest things

Punch him in his face-ok not really-violence is never the answer! (only in my dreams) Talk to him about it-conversation is the only way to know how someone is feeling. Does he work? why is he home while you are working 10 hours? If he isn't working-is that the problem? HIS problem-and he's upset that you are questioning what he is doing all day? so he throws some verbal garbage at you to make himself feel better? Hmmm...I don't like it one bit-NO ONE should feel bad about themselves because of something mean that is verbalized by a person that claims to love them!

    Pre op diet starts today!

The other thing to remind yourself is that staying on the pre-op diet and following it strictly will make your surgery and recovery better. It's helping 'shrink' your liver which helps the surgeon have better access to your stomach;) YOU CAN DO IT! Mind over matter! I can say this because I haven't done mine yet-Ha! I believe you can do it! It's only 2 weeks of the 52 in the year! Remind me of these things when I am on my pre-op
