I'm a Gandsas patient 10 months out... Lost 100.. HW- 350 SW- 339 CW- 250 Surgery- July 11, 2013 I weigh 287. I am almost at the point that my paperwork can be submitted to my insurance. I am praying they will approve with no hold ups. I'm happy to hear from one of Dr ggandsas patients. I wish someone would start a site giving details from beginning to end. How do u think he was and how was your recovery? Sonia.. I'm not going to lie.. First 3 days was hard and terrible. But I will tell you this I was able to go back to work after 7days. I was a little weak and that's it. The hospital took care of me very well. Within 4 weeks I was at the beach. I had my surgery in July 10 2013. By the end of August, I had my energy back. I wouldn't change a thing. Nothing to be scared about.. You will get through and wonder like everyone else why it took you so long to have the sleeve.Yeah.. It would be nice to have a website to go too.. There are two Facebook pages you can go to.. Search Maryland and DC bariatric. If you can't find it let me know.. I was lucky I befriend someone in Arianne nutrition class and we did the surgery together and corresponded daily..if you need anything or advice you can message me.. I know how it felt when I first decided to do the surgery.. Nervous, scared.. Hoping the insurance pay for it, anxious.. Want to cry... So on... You will be ok.. Take a breath.. I was in your shoes a year ago.. And today... I feel like my life has been given back to me.

I'm slowing down too.. I started drinking more Protein shakes. I've been drink green shakes with unflavored Protein powder. I found out that kale has more protein in it than chicken and fish. And I limited process food like triscuits and wheat thin.. Anything process. I was also eating a handful of nuts everyday.. I slow down on those too.. For the month of January I recorded what I ate in fitnesspal. I was so shocked to find out that I was eating 1600 calories! So realized that I needed to slow down on foods I eliminated above. I haven't recorded my intake in awhile but going back to shakes, eating fruit, veggies and protein is working now. I lost 5 lbs since January.. I'm going to start working out again too. SW-350 SW - 339 - surgery date - July 10th CW- 257 -

Last Friday was my 6 month sleeve anniversary. I didn't lose the 100 lbs but lost 85 which I'm very happy. Hopefully I can lost 15lbs soon. Losing weight is not easy.. But I'm keep going.. Most interesting think is the increase of appetite. But I try my best to eat Protein dense food...Congrats to all the July sleevers that made it this far! Also thanks to the veteran sleevers for the advice and the will to keep going! Weight before pre op diet- 350 Weight after pre op diet (two weeks)-339 Surgery Date: July 10th Today's weight- 265 Height 5'10 Total lost- 85 Haven't been this weight since the middle 90's. I'm not going to lie to you...but the whole process was overwhelming but exciting at the same time! The staff is very organize. Jeanette has that big binder and will keep you on track. Arianne is there help with diet and Gandsas is there to monitor you and do the surgery. Everyone has a purpose. I also did BOP...which got me started excercising. One thing that you have to remember about the sleeve that it is a tool not a miracle drug/surgery. You still have to do your part. The faster you complete the work in the binder..they can schedule a surgery date. Surgery date depends on your insurance company, but make sure your insurance company covers it and what are the requirements from the insurance company. Some insurance company cover all the prep work but not surgery crazy right. I started the program the same time has you year ago. I was nervous didn't know what to expect....what a year! I have about 85lbs to more to get to goal. It's work but the sleeve makes you want to work at it. Why have the surgery and not at least try. The sleeve helps you through the hurdle of the 15-20 lbs that you loose but can't get the willpower to go pass that.... I can't tell how many times that I lost 25lbs in the last 20 yrs. ahahahaha. Read... Read.. Read... Every blog.. This forum... Get to a support group.. There's a DC and Maryland Facebook pages. I was unable to attend AAAMC Support due to schedule . Read the veteran stories. They are real stories that will help you. Get your mind ready. I finish most of my prep work in one month. I had my first appt with AAMC team the first week in January 2013. I had a 6 months waiting period. Don't miss an appt.. Also one more thing, I meet a buddy at Arriane dietician class. She was my rock.. Someone to bounce ideas... And rant.. Tell them how scared I was to do the surgery. We decided to do the surgery on the same day. She was the first and I was the second on our surgery date of 7/10/13. We went through pre-op diet to recovery. We still talk today. If you have anymore questions, let me know PM me. I'm a little slow in responding to message but I will answer any of your questions. At times you are going to feel lonely. But you are not alone in the process. Good Luck!

I'm with you guys on this! I had a co-worker bring her hateraid to me. Don't lose to much weight.. Whatever.. I can't wait until I finish losing this darn weight. That's exactly why I don't want anyone to know that I had the surgery . I don't know why people can't be happy for you. If you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything. Keep your jealousy to yourself! -
How long after 6 month diet is Surgery usually scheduled?
Tabby Closet replied to miamax13's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Once I fulfilled the 6 months requirement I was schedule the next month...so it's like 7 months, because the NUT has to submit the paper to the insurance company at 6. I knew my date at the 5 month mark though. -

Best and worst "compliments"
Tabby Closet replied to Healthier2day1227's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I had a annoying compliment from a old co-worker. She ask "are you losing weight". My reply "yes". Co-worker "how much have you lost"? My reply "not sure. I'm not a slave to the scale". Co-worker " well don't lose to much weight". My reply in my head" what the $&$&? Coworker probably morbidly obese. Myself morbidly obese. Weighed 347.5 start of the journey on 6/22/13, sleeved 7/10. Now 290. I have a lot of weight to lose. Why can't people be happy for you. I have secretly been jealous of others losing weight but would never tell them to not lose weight. I have told them Congrats.. And secretly wish it was me.
