    Pizza cheat!

I tried the zucchini boat way but it turned out pretty squishy & messy. I cooked the zuc in the oven first then put the toppings and baked some more. Do you do yours differently? I used to make the portobello pizza years ago, have to go get some of those. So far I haven't been that satisfied with pizza toppings yet, just doesn't taste as good as they used to.

    Pizza cheat!

They have corn syrup in the sauce. In other words processed sugar by another name. Anyhow...because I cant eat much I just put some sauce that I make myself in a small oven safe dish and put toppings & cheese on it and then stick it in the oven until its hot & melty. I try to make it small but it always ends up 2 servings. Also I freeze most of my sauce in ice cubes trays and then keep the frozen cubes in a freezer bag. That way I can add 2 cubes to something easily.

    The journey begins today.

Just think about what you CAN have, not what you cant. Congratulations on your upcoming surgery.
  5. You should be scared, it means you are taking this seriously. If you think you can do it by a liquid diet and then transition into healthy eating you should give that a good shot. I'm 54, I have been fat my whole life and never lost more than 70 lbs and never kept it off. For the last 4 years it has been almost impossible for me to lose and I was gaining at times when I was not overeating. I AM ashamed at myself that it had to come to this but I figured I have been dieting for 43 years and I would have done it by now if I could have. If you arent sure you have given it your all then give it one more BIG SERIOUS try. This is hard, the last month for me has been miserable but now I am hoping things will get better.

    TICKER?

In the upper right where you see you user name theres a little drop down arrow. In the drop down box it says tickers, when you open that page to the right it says create or new or something like that
  7. How long until we hit the chocolate phase? If you let it melt in your mouth its liquid right?
  8. Thanks everybody! I lost another 8/10 of a lb this morning and then tonight I weighed a little less. I have seen some people say it really got rolling for them after 7 or 8 weeks so I am hopeful that my loss has picked up at least for awhile.
  9. So today is my 2 month check-in and I weigh under 230 lbs for the first time since somewhere back in the 80's!!!! I have lost 37 and 1/10th lb which brings me to 229.4 Actually once I hit 232 I was lower than I had been since the 80's but getting under the 230 mark seems like a bigger deal. This past month was the hardest part but things are starting to go more smoothly now. Thanks for listening.
  10. The truth is there are many very good surgeons in TJ. I agree with you about avoiding the ones in a strip mall that send you to a residence after surgery as being a no go. The level of care is different there and I really appreciated that. Decide what things mean the most to you and then narrow the Drs down to those that fit. Beware of anyone that wants to help you decide on their surgeon only. Good Luck Sent from my iPhone using VST

    Poop problems

Personally I don't like to get constipated so I followed my Dr's advice and took some Milk of Magnesia. That was either 4 or 5 days after surgery. It worked pretty well. It took about an hour for things to happen but it wasn't hours of horrible diahhrea like things I had taken in the past, it was maybe 3 "visits" over the next 2 hours.

May sleevers! How much have you lost so far?

Today is my 2 month check-in and I have lost 37.1 lb and now weigh 229.4 I have not been under 230 since the 1980's!!

    Magnesium citrate down the hatch...

I feel for you! I was so relieved I didn't have to take a laxative or have an enema or anything. I just had to do 2 weeks of liquids and the last day was clear liquid. Good Luck tomorrow!

    so fed up right now

So sorry you are having this issue, how disappointing. Its never made sense to me that people have to lose weight to have the surgery. I see you lost 46 lbs in a year? That should be considered great for someone that hasn't had surgery yet! Keep fighting for it! Good Luck.
  15. I wasn't given a goal weight either. I figure play it by ear, I'll know where I want to be when I get there. I too chose from a chart of healthy weights for my height. I consider it to be a ballpark figure. Its just a number, how I feel and how clothes fit mean a lot more.

    Woah...

I too am having a hard time eating slow. What happened to doing something for 21 days makes it a habit? I'm fine most of the time but at least once a week I take a "normal" bite, sometimes I catch myself with it still in my mouth and sometimes I don't! Same thing with drinking, especially if I'm trying to take a pill that I think is small enough, I still want a big old gulp of Water to get it down. Sad to say I have not yet eaten with anyone! I'm still eating alone even though I live with my DH & DS and have grandbabies over 4 days a week!

    Citrus

Gotta love some of our instructions! Like mine...it says "avoid nuts" there's no point at which is says I can have nuts- it seems to expect me to avoid them forever! However...I could have citrus fruits without the membrane at 4 to 6 weeks, I guess that means I can have the membrane after 6 weeks. the only fruit I have had so far is banana.
  18. I think all these vitamins and protein are making my hair thicker. Hopefully it will offset my loss some when that starts. I'm 8 weeks out today.
  19. My surgeons instructions kind of stop at 6 weeks and up to 6 weeks it said avoid nuts. So presumably after 6 weeks I can eat nuts. Does that sound about right? I know people eat nut butters earlier- would there be a reason to put off nuts longer than 6 weeks? I could see seeds getting stuck in your incision but nuts? Well chewed of course.

    When could you eat nuts?

Thank you all, I was looking into healthy fats to help my hair before it starts to fall out. I guess I better stick to avocados, tuna & salmon and maybe a couple olives here or there.

    two month follow up today

Thanks for posting this. It sounds like some good information and I like his way of thinking. I will keep the healthy fats in mind more, I don't have any hair to spare.

I am giving up on chicken.

Good description of that feeling. I've been saying it feels like I swallowed a brick but yours is better.
  23. Well today is 6 weeks after my surgery and 8 weeks after I started the liquid pre surgery diet and I have lost 30 lbs. Its going a little slow but its GOING. It took the last whole month to lost 10 lbs. I know 10 lbs a month is good- it just feels slow while its happening. I want other people with crappy slow metabolisms like mine to know they aren't alone.

    Meals for one

I thought about getting a little egg pan but it doesn't bother me to use the big fry pan. It would be nicer to wash though! Anyhooo.....my Surgeons instructions suggested something I really like. When you make food that is more then one or two servings freeze the rest in an ice cube tray. So far I have done this with sauces and gravies. After they are solid, pop them out into a freezer bag, then you aren't wasting most of a jar of spaghetti sauce or whatever.
