The Incedible Shrinking Biker!
vegasneon replied to ShrinkingBiker's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Congrats Biker! Looking good! Will you still wear all black when you get skinny? I think I will. I just read your entire Blog, good info there and enjoyable reading. -
pre surgery I thought Papa Johns was very thin and good. I'm so glad piercedqt brought up Papa Murphys- they are not close to me but we used to love them so much. I see a delite chicken Mediterranean in my very near future, like Friday or Saturday when I'm off.
-
Hey we all have to have an occasional treat.
-
I used to complain about the weird pizza at work because it has this crackery crust. Not like good thin crust- just weird. Pizza is the one thing I have been wanting and just toppings have not been very satisfying, last week they had pizza at work again and I could actually eat 3 bites! Now I like it. Of course NOW it is very rare that they serve it which in reality is a good thing. I do fantasize about buying a thin crust pizza and wondering how well it will freeze and how many months it will take me to eat it.

I was sleeved in Mexico so I don't have a local Bariactric surgeon or group. I haven't been to a Dr in several years and only went to a clinic then. I want to go to someone for my 3 month post surgery to check me out and do labs. Would you fellow sleevers go to an Internal Medicine Dr or just a General MD? Or would you go to a Bariactric Dr even though you didn't have surgery with him? I can go to pretty much anyone I want, there are a lot of preferred Dr's in all categories and I don't need a referral. I don't have Diabetes or ..........anything, I'm just fat. Advice would be appreciated.

Finding a post op Doctor
vegasneon replied to vegasneon's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you both, I'll have to call around. -
Jessica what are you keeping your carbs under? I haven't eaten any of those kinds of things and I'm not losing as well as you. I finally had a piece of whole grain toast this week but no "bad" carbs. I think I need to eat more and start eating some green vegetables.

I was just looking through all that clearance and thinking its too bad I don't know what size I will be next summer. Then I realized- I hope I'm not Lane Bryant size next summer! They have some cute Maxi dresses.

Five Months Post op and finally....OnDeRlaNd!
vegasneon replied to jacee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You were sleeved 3 months to the day before me. Also I started one and a half lbs heavier than you. If I do as well as you someone will have to peel me off the ceiling! -
I never thought about the arches because I have always had incredibly flat feet. I did think less weight on them could be good but if I get some arch too that would be great. For several years now I have not been able to wear anything but Birkenstocks without pain. On the opposite end my DIL told me her bones were still growing (at 26?) because her shoes size had gone up a full size. She was not happy when I said it was because she had gained weight. I had never even mentioned that she was easily twice as big as she was a couple years ago if not more. She doesn't believe me that this is even possible.

Forced restaurant outing, still on soft diet
vegasneon replied to Daydra's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I would go with the shrimp & avocado sandwich too. Like you said there's 3 things in there that we can eat and it's usually easy to discard the bread. If it were me I would plan to eat only the fish inside the breading of the fish & chips but would possibly break down and eat some breading and a chip or two. I've only eaten out once, 4 days ago and I was so scared I would eat too fast or too much or get the foamies. We took our little Granddaughters out for Mexican food and they don't know about my surgery because I think they are too young. I knew if I had to run to the bathroom to spit they would come with me. Everything was OK but a bit nerve racking. -
After you have lost over 100 lbs you will have usually lost one to one and a half sizes.

How does this happen? Real food vs fake?

Can I go eat at your Mom & Dads? I need something to jump start me. -
I NEED HELP ......I'M AT A STAND STILL AND CAN'T GET RIGHT
vegasneon replied to LHT's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Do you eat 3 meals plus 2 Snacks or just 3 meals or what? I've been losing so slow but usually only eating 2 meals and no snacks and I think I need to eat more. I'm usually between 500 & 750 calories. I don't think I'm getting enough liquid either, still having trouble with plain water. I thought maybe I needed more calories but I see you have done so well under 800. Also I have barely eaten veggies and almost no fruit. I don't eat anything on your "bad carb" list, I mostly eat meat, cheese & drink Protein shakes. BTW you look awesome in your profile pictures! -
Do you have any Netrition suggestions? I need to order more unflavored Protein powder from them and I was going to try some Quest bars and now I will likely try the above mentioned flax crackers. I get these little flax crackers from Winco (grocery store). The only ingredients are flax, corn meal & oil. I can't even finish a half cup of them. Plain but good.

Whats funny to me about my baggy jeans is how long the front pockets really are. I guess my huge gut was holding up my cell phone coz now it goes so far down my leg its annoying so I have to hold my phone in my hand while I walk on my breaks and listen to podcasts.

I always notice there are a LOT of nurses and other medical professionals. I however am a switchboard operator at a hotel & casino.

SO does you fat giggle like JELL-O now?
vegasneon replied to nursesettie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
On my favorite Low Carb Forum people often talk about their fat getting looser and more liquid like and then having a big loss. I was already pretty squishy. Not seeing any extra squishiness yet. -
My surgeon kept saying he made my stomach really small and so I'm going to lose really good. He said it so many times it made me nervous that I was going to have trouble eating at all.
-
yes, I do. I never take a break from it. If I forget then I gag when I brush my teeth and sometimes vomit. If I feel worse than usual I will also take the generic form of Zantac right along with the omeprazole.
-
Oh you are so lucky! I told the surgeon I wanted to see it but if he showed it to me I was too out of it to remember. I really wonder what my stomach looks like now!
-
I looked up long term effects just last week because I have been on it for years. I didn't find anything to worry about. I'm sure I will be on it for at least awhile more. When I was real low carb in the past (4 years ago) I actually got to where I didn't need it.

Sleeved 7/22 & Struggling!'
vegasneon replied to amsenegal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You sure you can only eat yogurt? There couldn't have been a misunderstanding? Do you have a print out of instructions? I've never heard of anyone being put on just yogurt. Jello has sugar free pudding in the refrigerated section. I think they are around 60 calories each. I was allowed pudding, cottage cheese yogurt & soup. Maybe even other things, cant remember offhand. -
Liquid diet today...my orders, not the surgeon's!
vegasneon commented on vsginkc's blog entry in vsginkc's Blog
Just focus on what you CAN have. I had a 2 week pre surgery liquid diet but on the first week I was allowed up to 4 oz of meat once a day if needed. I only did it 3 times but if it gets too rough in the first few days you might want to try that. I really didn't mind the liquid diet. I too went a little crazy eating the month before surgery so I was ready for the change. -
You're only 6 months out, I think you are doing fantastic. No reason to give up or be discouraged, it will just go slower now. OP: You look great! Congratulations. Its always cool to read the long term results.
