My surgeon gave me antibiotics in pill form to take right after surgery. Bigger pills I felt uncomfortable swallowing until 10 or 12 weeks out. So happy I dont have to take chewable calcium anymore!

Did you use one of those little ice cream makers you pre freeze? I have to try this- I have Fage that needs using up.

You can get around that too. In the 80s my bosses friend got her mouth wired shut and gained weight. She was living on milkshakes and scotch. Separately of course.

I do like them- I have not run or exercised in them. LOL I bought an expensive pair from a biking online store and two cheap pairs from walmart. The expensive pair might have held me better if they were tighter but I wear those 3 pairs all the time at home. I like the way they make me less jiggely and yet are comfortable enough to take a nap in. My old shorts were from when I weighed 298 a few years ago and they got too ridiculous to wear.

Yea that! It is kind of annoying when you go to a profile and there is NOTHING there. Not that mine is the greatest mind you. But I want to see surgery date and starting weight and current- thats all I ask. More is good too.

I'm afraid of soft bread & fruit. I did try two pinches of the inside of a bun that had melted cheese on it and that made me nauseous. I figure I should follow my instincts for now.

Girl you need to find SOMETHING you can drink. You can't go on without your fluids. Don't wait until you feel thirsty- just keep sipping whenever you can. I feel terrible for you but we have to have our liquids. Like it or not, feel like drinking or not- you NEED them.

Don't worry too much until you talk to the Dr again. Make a list of questions. Find out how much he expects you to lose and what kind of diet. If it were me I would be cutting out the bad carbs and carbonation now. Good Luck!

I was thinking of following South Beach, how long have you been following it and do you think it works well for us? I got an offer in email today for a South Beach book free with $4.95 shipping so I thought I would look into it.

I'm just over 4 months and I still feel full in my chest not my stomach. Its not as uncomfortable as it was, I was going to say unless I overdo it but I just realized I guess I have not been overdoing it lately. A week or so ago I started feeling like I could eat more but I still eat the same amount usually. Maybe I am just getting used to the full feeling but it doesnt really bother me now. I only get heartburn on occasion, I take Prilosec everyday and add the generic form of Zantac as needed. Things do get better.

Unless you have nutritional deficiency why else does it matter if you lose too fast? Did your Dr give a reason? Kind of jealous, I want your problem. Sent from my iPhone using VST

I had the soap thing with everything for days at a time. My best friend said it was the anesthesia, she had that after gall bladder surgery and that's what her Dr said. I also have the dirty penny taste all day some days still at almost 4 months. People say that's Ketosis but I have had it after whole grain crackers so- after more carbs than usual. I also said WLS was for other people and not me. That was before I knew about the sleeve. I have been overweight all my life and over 200 since the early 80s though I was also 250 when I was 18. Whenever I lost 60 or 80 lbs I could never go further. Then after keeping a 60 lb loss for 4 years I started gaining and nothing I did would stop it. I second looking into Mexico. I was turned off by what I read about Umbach- couldn't afford him anyway. Its a 5 hour drive to San Diego, I parked in the Border parking lot by the 24 hour attendant and the Van picked me up there and returned me there afterwards. Medical Tourism is a big thing there in TJ. Everything is included in the price and they keep you in the hospital 3 days and then a nice hotel for one more. The way they do things there make a lot more sense and seem a lot more caring than hospitals here. I'm sure Mexico isn't for everyone and there are a variety of Drs and hospitals there to look into. I'm just saying its a great option.

I only had intense pain 30 hours after surgery. I was on pain med in the hospital 2 days and I took meds 2 more days.

I am definately an apple and I was getting upset thinking my big belly wasnt going down at all while my legs had gotten way smaller but then I measured myself and had lost 5 1/2 inches around my belly button and 6 inches at my natural waist. That was either at 2 months or at 3, my little book is at home. The main part of my fat is my belly so I think it will be the last thing to go. I'm waiting for my 4 month mark to measure again. I think I might have to take the legs in on my jeans.

I couldn't swallow capsules comfortably until I was 12 weeks out.

I take the Generic form of Prilosec that WalMart sells. Its Equate Omeprazole. Its such a slim little coated pill that I could swallow it even right after surgery. I've never seen a chewable PPI. I think the real OTC Prilosec might be as small- been so many years since I bought the name brand I could be wrong,. WalMart also has chewable Simethicone for gas. Its cherry flavored and not bad. Same thing as Gas-x.
