Had my band to sleeve surgery on Tuesday
Staci27 replied to JohnC's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am sorry to hear about the pain. I am so very nervous about waking up and be in extreme pain. Yes, I asked if I would be getting a catheter or a drain tube, they said no on the catheter and a possible on the drainage tube. I will be getting sleeved on 28 May, I am just ready to get it over with and start my new journey. I am so very nervous about putting any weight on my stomach, they told me that i wouldn't be drinking anything the first day after surgery, but would start after my barium swallow to check for a leak, is that what happended to you? -
I googled some today and there was some bad reviews and some excellent ones.. I think it depend s ob the patient.. well I wish you the best of luck..

Well, just FYI.. I am right up to surgery.. and I just finished with my Educational Class and History & Physical, which were the beginning of this week. We have a leak test the follow day of surgery. They do a leak test which you swallow the barium, kinda of like an Upper GI. To see if there is a leak. My surgery is at Baylor Medical Center at Trophy Club, Dr. Holden is the one acutally doing my surgery. I have only met Dr. Kim once, and that was at my initial eval, which was back in December. I have received nothing but a great experience with him, I just haven't read any reviews on Dr. Kim and the procedure from other patience. Where did you get that information, so maybe I can read up.. Thanks!

Why are you wanted to change over to Dr. Nicholson. Has your experience been unsatisfying. I have my surgery scheduled for 28 May. I am very nervous too..

Staci27 replied to sherrypep's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Happy to hear you are doing so well.. I am having my revision on May 28th and getting more and more nervous the closer the day gets. I am having my cardiac clearance on this Monday and History & Physical. Getting all my ducks in a row.. I am so praying that my journey is smooth sailing. -
Good morning to all, ok another questions I know you guys can help me out with. I am 27 years old, I am 5'8" and approx. 251... I hold my weight pretty good, I am curious to the average weight people loose. Is there a point when you loose to much weight? Should I be concerned with this? How much is to much on loosing weight? And what can i exspect on the weight I might loose. My goal I think is 160, should I be aiming for something lower, like 145? Remember I am tall (see picture attached) Should there be questions to ask my surgeon, maybe not take out the entire 85% of my stomach? Please help. Thanks!

I have a daughter that I want to have energy with and play and enjoy her being a toddler. Thank you!

Good morning All, it is a beautiful day here in Oklahoma with a high of 80.. a few questions, hoping you guys can help (no doubt that you can't) ).... So, I was reading somewhere on here that the girl had to have a tube going into there stomach, to drain fluids.. ok, that scares me so much.. do they put that in when you are under anthesia? And if so, when do they take it out? This girl was advising that was the worse part, the removal and cleaning the incision.. Please let me know, what was your experience, what was the worst part after waking up? Also, I am having surgery in Dallas, Texas and I reside in Oklahoma City, which is approximately 4 hours away, any recommendation on my trip home, should I stay in a hotel an extra day after being discharged? What is the average stay in the hospital, 1 or 2 days? Thanks!

that is another thing, I have never had a catheter, which i heard those kind of suck too. I am getting so nervous, I just fear that I might be making a mistake, my Dad keeps freaking my out saying they are taking out 3/4 of your stomach and you will never get it back, never, and what if you can't ever eat anything without throwing up.. So lets put out that question, does anyone have any feedback on vomitting after eating or drinking. Please let me know. Thanks!

thanks guys..

BCBS Federal Denial. Anyone appealed?
Staci27 replied to college_chick's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have Blue Cross Blue Shields Federal PPO Standard, I have the lapband, so I am getting a revision from Band to Sleeve. I was denied on my first letter, but they request for me to do a 3 month program with my PCP, 1 nutionist visit, 1 physc. eval.. I was approved after resubmittal of paper work with all of the clearance from PCP, nutrionist and physc. My surgery is scheduled on 28 May. So I hope this helps, but you can do an appeal. Are you going for your first weight loss surgery? -

Good morning all, ok so my family is freaking out saying that the Sleeve hasn't been around long enough for the long term side effects to be layed out. I didn't really get the opportunity to ask my surgeon the long term side effects or leakage indications. Can someone help.. has anyone out there had any issues with the Sleeve, I want some feedback to give my parents and Husband positive and negative.. What has you experience been with the Sleeve, would you do it again, and please be honest.. good and bad... Thanks!

I figured it out. Thanks for your help and god bless you in your journey..
